Chouaib | 21 comments Hello readers!

The idea is simple, each one of us who just finished a book, describe in some lines his view about it, which will give us an idea about the book and we can also discuss about it.

So let's start, I just finished The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy and I'm happy to found this kind of books, it change and correct our ways of thinking, it's the first time that I discover this super power of my subconscious mind, I remembered some experiences on the past and I discovered that I used it without knowing, the author describe the ways that can help us on life in everything to reach our goals and dreams and with many real examples, this power exceed the imagination and can cure the hardest diseases in this world, can help us to succeed in our professional life, family, relations with people, our weaknesses... and more and more, I'm sure that I will read it more other times... I will not say more to keep the suspense of the book.

What about you friends?
By the way if you have any question about the book you can post it.

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments The mind is a complex thing. The capacity of the human mind is fascinating. It sounds like an interesting book. Though discussing it without reading it would be somewhat difficult to do. This is a subject that has always been interesting to me but not necessarily one that I have ever had any interest in doing any research on. What peaked your interest about this topic, if I may ask?

The last book I finished was Water for Elephants which was a re-read for me. I liked it a lot the first time. I think I liked it even a bit more, and perhaps appreciated it a bit more, the second time.

I thought the way that the issue of domestic violence was addressed in the book was an interesting commentary on that time period. There are a number of instances in which the main character has to remind other people that the female victim is, in fact, a victim and not overreacting to some minor offense of her husband.

But the greater theme, of course, is human rights (and animal rights) altogether. In any event, it interested me. I'm not sure how historically accurate Gruen's portrayal is of what life on a circus was like in the 1930's but it is something I think I'd enjoy reading more on.

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments The last book that I read that is worth talking about was Norwegian Wood. I absolutely loved it - there is something about Murakami's writing style that really captured my heart. His characters were so beautifully written, and felt very genuine, as opposed to many other characters that I've read with mental illnesses. I am definitely planning on reading more by him!

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3266 comments The last book I read was Little Girls by Ronald Malfi (sorry, I don't know how to link to the page). It was my original pick for "A book that scares you" from the Popsugar Challenge this year, but I ended up picking We Need to Talk About Kevin to fulfill the requirement instead. I had to special order Little Girls from my library and I wasn't sure it was going to arrive in time to complete the challenge.

The book really was very scary for me! I get scared very easily by ghost stories (if they're well written -- this one definitely was!) and psychological horror. This was by far one of the creepiest books I've ever read, and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected...even if it did give me some nightmares.

It's about a woman, Laurie, who returns to her childhood home after her father apparently committed suicide. As she starts to investigate his death, she starts to suspect that there was something deeper going on. At the same time, and what really made it creepy for me, Laurie's neighbours have a young girl who strongly resembles a childhood companion of Laurie's, however this companion died when they were both kids. I can't say much more without giving anything away, but it is a really disturbing book.

Valerie | 383 comments The last book I read was Tobermory and Other Stories. Bizarre! Surprise! I could never guess the ending to any of the short stories in this book. Each, either through satire, humor, the macabre, has an unexpected, breathe-taking little twist at the end. Mainly, the stories feature animals and their unique methods for getting back at humans. You all know that your cat punishes you for going away for a weekend, so get set for other clever animals. I always thought that they liked us, but apparently I was mistook.

I was with a friend a couple of years ago when he talked about this subject, I had no idea before about the capacity of our mind or how to use the max of it, I saw some documentaries about this subject that showed many interesting things and I become more excited in this way to know more and more... Recently, by chance I found this book who describe very good the best way to use our subconscious mind.

Your last book look good, I will add it to my list of next reading, thanks!

Nice! interesting story, it's normal that people get scary but there are often a special suspense, I have seen some movies like this but I had never read a book in this genre, maybe it's time to do it, thanks Rachel!

Manju P | 17 comments I have just finished Everything, Everything. I liked it but I got a bit confused also. I didn't feel the depth in some characters in the story. I liked the heroine and I can understand how she feels. But other characters... No... I felt something missing when I finished the book.
