Well, it looks like many of us are on to the next section, as am I. At the end of the last, there was a surprising spontaneous fire in the hot dog grill that may have injured Jackie's boyfriend Kyle. One of Merry's presumptive beaus, Alan, jumped to the rescue! What (and who) is trying to ruin the livelihood of Rudolph? It is Sue Anne who is so desperate to become mayor by trashing the current mayor? Is it someone from the adjoining town who wants the Christmas business?

One thing that makes this mystery a little different from some of the series we have read in the past, is that with the series, we are pretty sure that a number of the recurrent characters are NOT guilty. Here, every one is new so we don't have that luxury.

Oh, and we will discuss the culprit in a final thread, so don't give anything away regarding that in this one!

Sounds great, Pghfan. As for me, it feels it's coming from other town or Rudolph's wannabe mayor. Not exactly sure why I feel so but there it is. If I had to guess (and guessing is what it is) I'd go with either of those. Thing is if it is a Muddite, which one? The whole town? lol Hmmm?

Pghfan, all PI's, off yet on topic...to weigh in on The Den, an annex to The Parlor. Do you agree, approve, will you participate, think it a good idea?

I'm a cozy gal for sure. Think Nancy Drew, Christie, Murder She Wrote and many others. But even Christie's work had a bitty bent on the grittier (very little but occasional) material in her stories. And sometimes I find some of the new mysteries border on cozy/harder material. I often passed up projects that were enticing thinking it might offend our cozy leanings. The Den would allow us to explore fare that may straddle that line, offering more choices as frankly, some cozy stuff is getting too silly to be taken seriously. I had a former PI opine that they just found some choices lacking and they've moved on to more serious or adult fare.

Anyway, Pghfan and all PI's what say you? What do you think? Your opines are welcomed.

I'm not a gritty fan, and another post for these discussions are great with me!

Okay, thanks, Pghfan. Just to clarify - no slasher/gashers, horror. I'm not into that stuff either. Just...well, we won't know 'til we select books and read them.

Almost done. I think the perp is about to be unveiled.

J Well I was blown away! Never even suspected.
The closing scene- protagonist surrounded by her two male admirers...remind anyone of The Diva?

Just finished. I didn't see that one coming either.

The two beaus also reminds me of Plum Pudding where she had the two men interested in her.

J Tina can you believe I still haven't watched it? But I do remember them from the book.
Honestly I don't know where the time goes!

I just finished as well. I will start a final thread to discuss the ending, since so many of us are already done.

J, It's sweet. Much eye candy to enjoy as well as a satisfying mystery to solve. I think you'll like it.

I'm trying to get more Christmas spirit as before you know it, holidays will be over.

It was a fairly good Christmas read, Pghfan. Enjoyed it.

Will you be joining Dickens side read? Allison is right - A fine fit for The Parlor. Could just check out free pages on Ammy to get a feel for it.
