It's a line that Maven uses at the end of the book. He says "I am the King and you could've been my Red Queen. Now you are nothing." Page 354. He offers to save Mare, but she shoots him down. He was going to save her then she would have been queen. Hence Red Queen.
Thanks, I've just read so many books after Red Queen that I feel so bad that I could not remember that.
No worries, I am a font of knowledge that is completely useless except on Goodreads. And I did have to look up the exact page number.
Wish I had that memory. Can't wait till Glass sword and her novellas cruel crown.

That's more like what I have to do. But I have too many tbr books already. Can't believe that it's now a quartet instead of a trilogy. Like I want to wait another year to find out the ending.

I am not shipping at all. Mare doesn't need a man, and so far I haven't seen the right guy. Both Kilorn and Cal are flawed and did something that annoyed me.

Because Mare was not going to be queen, Cal was next in line for the throne and he was going to marry Evangeline and Mare was engaged to Maven.
