Shade made a noise that translated as not very likely as he continued searching trying to figure out where he had put the darn scroll.

Displacer laid there in the sun looking at all the scrolls. "Shade, few shelves over and a couple down I think that's were you put it." He stated, Displacer may be lazy but that let him pay attention to his surroundings better the reason why he watches over the eating cave.
Shade went over and immediately found the scroll the young fox had been looking for. before he gave to him though he looked at the young cross-breed and said, "should this scroll come back damaged." he leaned forward and growled, "i'll tear it out of your hide." the trembling Fox gulped as he nodded and took the scroll. "now have a good day!" Shade said cheerfully, which scared the poor dragonet more and caused him to bolt out the library as quickly as possible.
Destiny quickly swept into the room, fetching a scroll of the map and twirled towards Shade
Shade, instinctively reacting, nearly took the dragon's head off with his tail, but stop himself before he could do more than raise it defensively. "you know the rules, the scroll comes back damaged you'll face the consequences." he said roughly.
"Ya, I know" Destiny answered, "Watch it with your tail and don't talk to me with that tone!" Destiny glared at Shade
Shade glared at the smaller dragon and growled out, "this is more normal voice, deal with it."
"I don't have to! I'm not scared of you!" Destiny's black, red, and orange wings flared in anger
Shade, annoyed, spread his massive wings and flicked his tail into a battle ready position. then, annoyed he had gotten annoyed, flicked his tail down and closed his wings. "don't mess with a killer young one, not unless you're ready to die." he said with his rough voice as he went back to fixing the scrolls.
"I doubt you can kill me" .Destiny growled quietly, putting the map on the desk, "Do you know where the Nightwing kingdom is here?"
"despite my appearance i do know things. i know where all the kingdoms are." he gestured with his tail, easily reaching the distance, and gently pointed to the spot. "if you wish to more there are scrolls over there." he gestured again with his tail over to a wall.
Destiny sighed, "They still live with the Rainwings right? That's all I need to know sir" Destiny put her scroll in her scroll bag
"yes, although not all. i think a few left in search of new territory but they might have returned by now." Shade said as he fixed some scroll piles. "now take good care of that scroll, i like it more than i like you after all." he said with a slight snarl, although those that figured it out knew he was trying to be amusing.
Destiny shot him a glare so deep it silenced him, but her glare softened and she murmured, "Thank you, I've been trying to go back to my tribe for a while now..." the assassin stared at his scars, "you alright?"
"i'm better than i've been since before i hatched 500 years ago." he said with a rough growl.
"500!" Destiny gasped, "your 500?!?!?!" Destiny went silent for a moment, "Did you choose to leave the tribe or were you kicked out?
"i'm a cross of a cross. you can probably guess from my looks i'm part NightWing and SandWing, "he waved the barb on his tail, showing it off, "and if you knew anatomy you'd could guess from my wing size that i'm part SkyWing as well. what you wouldn't guess is that i'm part RainWing also." he closed his wings as he took a sitting position.
"I'm a cross of Skywings and Nightwings, I was banished from my kingdom because I was dangerous to them" Destiny's very sharp claws flexed and her large wings spread, taking a half of a quarter of the room
"my parents tried to kill me when i was born. back then crosses were considered abominations that should be destroyed. my parents looked enough like one kingdom to fit in but i ended up too mixed. i ran away and survived on my own for a long time before i saw my parents again. when i saw them they once again tried to kill me and i left again. i stayed away from dragons, avoiding them when i could, for most of my life." Shade said.
"Three moons, that's horrible. Well, at Jade Mountain you are around a bunch of dragonets, can you tell me a story maybe?" Destiny was bored and tired, she sat down, "Maybe before I leave?"
"most stories i know would haaunt you but....there was the time i saw something good. i was younger back then, shortly after i had met my parents again, and i was tired with everything and wondering what i could possibly live for. then it happened. during the night i saw something in the sky streak by. thinking it was an enemy i readied to fight but nothing happened. then i saw another streak, then another, then another. suddenly the whole night sky was lit up with great streaks of light, disappearing only to be renewed by the ones after. i sat there and watched them for hours before they disappeared." Shade said with wonder.
"Other Nightwings?" Destiny mused, she tried to read his thoughts but since he was part Nightwing she couldn't really read them
"shooting stars. i only learned of it recently. it doesn't happen all the time and rarely ever happens like i saw it." Shade said, gesturing with his tail. "i think a scroll on the subject is somewhere over there."
Destiny picked her way through the scrolls quickly and handed him the one of shooting stars, "this one?"
"yes. not much is known, most of it is theories with almost nothing concrete."
"I'll read this on my journey, it must be interesting!" Destiny put it with the map, "Thank you, but right now I must be on my way to the kingdom." Destiny's wing brushed against a scroll and she winced her damaged wing howling in pain. Destiny swallowed back tears and yelps of pain
"not with a damaged wing. even stubborn SkyWings won't fly with an injured wing." Shade said sternly. "you should get that checked and taken care of. or you could lose your wings."
"I'm fine" Destiny slowly answered, slightly growling. "I'm not wanted here so why would they help me after what I did?" Destiny shuffled her feet, moving her wings away from the scrolls
"what could you possibly have done? have you killed dragons simply because they didn't move fast enough? because they weren't strong enough? trust me whatever you have done is nothing compared to me."
"I almost killed 2 of their students, a Seawing and Rainwing, and I'm an assassin that's supposed to be at the Skywing kingdom and Nightwing kingdom right now!" Destiny had never really remembered how the kingdoms looked anymore
"an assassin? and two students? well aren't you just evil." he said sarcastically, surprised he could get it right. "if you hate the job so much quit. if you're worried about your queen retaliating against you then stay near me. no dragon with a lick of sense would dare harm you under my watch."
Destiny glared at him softly, "No dragon with sense would harm me with nobody watching over me" Destiny pointed out. "And I don't think I can quit exactly
"it's easy. simply stab the queen in the face and run like you're tail is on fire." Shade said, only half jokingly.
Destiny pushed him playfully with her talons, she made sure they weren't digging into him as she shoved him. "Then I'd be banished from 2 kingdoms! Nice going and I've already assassinated more dragons than you can caught for Queen Amber. Why would it make sense to kill her when I enjoyed killing for her?" Destiny thought for a moment then nodded to herself. It wouldn't make any sense... Destiny thought
"aw you enjoy killing? a trait most dragons share, although few wish to admit it. we are predators and competitive ones at that. we are thrilled when we surpass the strength of our own kind and revel in their demise." he spoke from experience, having lost himself to the bloodlust when he was younger.
"I didn't enjoy it! I just enjoyed that the dragons that had tried to kill her got what they deserved! Now, I'm going to leave and if you try to stop me talk to the talons! Then again you could come with me" Destiny glanced at Shade to see what his reaction would be
Shade looked at the young NightWing and sighed. "you truly won't rest and recover? you'll put yourself in danger because some queen ordered it?"
"It's my choice I'm leaving to the Nightwing kingdom Queen Amber of the Skywings is the best Queen! Even if she makes me kill dragons, she always has a good reason." Destiny twisted so her face was an inch away from his, "I don't have time for resting and recovering, it's rather you come with me and help me or you leave me alone and I'll find my own way to help myself" Destiny then got out of his face, whirling around to face to exit
the instant she turned her back on him he pinned her down and held his barbed tail near her throat. "never get in my face, that is the first thing you'll learn while we travel together." he said annoyed.
Destiny growled but knew better than to mess with a dragon with a poisonous tail inches from her throat. "Fine" Destiny hissed, "just let me up and get your barbed tail away from my dark throat!"

"then don't be stupid. we'll have to walk most of the way or i have to carry you. and, trust me, it isn't pleasant." Shade said as he slowly moved his barbed tail away and got off her.
"Thank you, and fine, we can walk most of the way I guess" Destiny felt satisfied that he agreed to come with her
"Come on! We better get going or we'll be walking in the dark!" Destiny flicked his tail on his shoulder and hurried out the doorway
Displacer sighed and walked out of the library. "Well I'm off back to the food cave, I guess I should do my job." He said as he walked out.
"lead the way then." Shade said, sighing as he followed her out.((where to?))
Jackal walked into the library with Selkie "So how long have you been at the school?"
"Not long. Only a couple of days. My sister, Conch, has been here awhile though. How about you?"
