This book has gusto at this point, and I am not even mad about having to wait until now since it is such a quick read. One the book starts going it really starts going. I would almost call this a fantasy/light thriller... maybe

I agree, it is clipping along! As spare as this novel can seen, I am coming to appreciate how Schwab has done well to make it almost exclusively a character study and still have a compelling plot.

Perfect to say it is a study on the characters and what they will do. I still highly recommend her Darker Shade of Magic Book as it is really charming.

I agree that it's picked up a lot at this point; I accidentally read straight through the last little break-up discussion point. I guess I should have done Lisa's post it trick!

The flashbacks seem to have more purpose as we move along... I was irritated by a few in the beginning where it felt like...
*Flashback: blah blah blah*
*Present: Victor looked at his glass*
*Flashback!: blah blah blah*
And it felt too disjointed. But at this point, the flashbacks and the present actions seem to compliment each other really well.

I also appreciate that I keep going back and forth on who is the most crazy. (view spoiler)[Just when I had settled on Eli as the crazy one, Mitch's worries about Victor, and his sudden outbursts, have made me start to wonder... (hide spoiler)]

I also like getting to see the various EO powers, (view spoiler)[even if only briefly. (hide spoiler)]

The beginning was rough, for sure. I want to meet more EOs. I really liked the first season of Heroes and this reminds me a little bit of help.
