PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I started reading Death of a Pumpkin Carver so if anyone else wants to read it also I can start the discussion.

That's good of you, PI Nicole. Thank you. If I'm done with current read in
a reasonable time, I'll join in.

I just read this one this morning so I'm in on a discussion if you want to...

Finished with All Things Cease To Appear (what a book. I strongly recommend it. But be warned, it gets racy in areas but can this lady write)!

Anyway, I'm on Dark & Stormy but I should be able to join in a bit for Carver. So far, is it any good?

message 255: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I actually finished Pumpkin Carver. It was sort of/kind of predictable at times. Lots of pumpkin recipes.

message 256: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Who's in for Pumpkin Carver? I can put it up sometime today if there's enough interest!

I already read Pumpkin Carver too so I'm in (if I can remember what happened lol). Yes, lots of pumpkin recipes which was kind of fun.

Girl On the Train movie w/Emily Blunt is releasing early Oct. I'm def. in for that one. Anyone here read the book? I liked it a lot.

message 260: by J (new)

J I thought we agreed Pumpkin Carver was better suited for an October read?

message 261: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I think Pumpkin Carver was thought of as maybe the side read for September and Pumpkin Picking with Murder for October since it just came out and hard to find right away (in libraries and such). Totally up to all of you just let me know. I read Pumpkin Carver anyway because I got it from Netgalley so I quickly got through it.

message 262: by J (new)

J Oh you are right Nicole...sorry!
Getting confused by all the Pumpkins. :D

I'll hold out for Pumpkin Picker in October. Still on main read. I also got behind on Dark and Stormy for this month but the rest of you can feel free to open a discussion on Carver.

Anyone know how to remove a book from "Want To Read" listing? In error, I clicked on a title called, Splat the Cat and I def. don't want to read it. What a title for a book. :-/

message 265: by PugMom (last edited Sep 20, 2016 05:32PM) (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Hahahah Splat the Cat is a kid's series. My students love it and my friend's little boy met the author and got a signed book! Definitely not a cozy mystery LOL
Go to MY BOOKS then on the left click on To Read and go to the book list. There should be an X next to the book and if you click on it, it will remove it from your shelf.

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
LOL Thanks, Nicole. Of course I would end up there. My adult child was having some fun with me. ;-)

I'll try your formula.

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
It did the trick, Nicole. And I was able to clean my list a bit. Not much but every bit helps. ;-) Thanks!

message 268: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments On the plus side, it's a short book that you could read quickly and up your Books Read count LOL

message 269: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
LOL My cats' backs are up over the title so I think I'll have to pass.

message 270: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I'm laughing so hard lol I'll have to mention this to my school librarian friend who loves those books!!

message 271: by J (new)

J Got my copy of Pumpkin Picking with Murder. I know it's a bit early but there are only two copies in my county wide library system and one is already out. I did not want to take the chance of not being able to get it in time for an October read. It looked interesting enough that I wanted to read it regardless of it being a pick or not.

I got my copy tonight as well, J. Darn, fave boy clerk "made" me renew my B&N member card and I lost it w/the 20 Percent discount on stuff. but at least I'll be on time this go around.

Just a thought...would be kinda be fun to have a pumpkin read competition re: carver and picker. Which fall read do the PI's like better type of thing. Have one for main read, one for side all of October. This might give us enough time to read both. Just a thought.

message 275: by PugMom (last edited Sep 23, 2016 05:56PM) (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I'll see if I can get a hold of Pumpkin Carver and also the first book in that series. I am reading a bunch of books right now including a Hamish McBeth book and Stephen King book. I also got The Woman in Cabin 10 from the library as well a borrowed book from a friend.

message 276: by J (new)

J Just curious Nicole-do you have to time to sleep? ;)

message 277: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Let us know how you like Woman In Cabin 10. That's on my "hit" list. ;-)

message 278: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Hahha I sleep! Although I have been bugged by my doggy in the middle of the night lately. He jumps off the bed, goes to get toys in the middle the night, then wakes me up to get him back on the bed. Kids never let their parents rest, huh?
I also started Hearse and Gardens and The Diva Haunts a House on Hoopla. I listen to them here and there.

message 279: by J (new)

J I loved The Diva Haunts a House! If I'm not mistaken, we read it in a previous read, possibly back on our old board. I have the book so let me know if you would like to discuss informally.

message 280: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Well, I got up early this morning and started The Woman in Cabin 10. After several cups of coffee (and trips to the restroom) I finished it! I looked at the clock and it was 11am! How did that happen? Anyway, it was an interesting read. I was confused on a few points but I'm hoping to read some reviews and figure them out.

message 281: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Wow! Power Reader, Nicole. And thanks for the review. Sounds interesting. I might give it a try.

J, was this the Halloween themed Diva? If so, I thought it was a good one. Actually, all her books are pretty interesting.

I'm good for Picker but not sure about Carver but will try for both. So, Picking is Oct. main read with Carver as side title?

Any takers for hosting Picking?

How many PI's do we have on board for October? Nicole, J and moi? Is that it? Anymore? Jill, Allison, Anastasia, Pghfan or others...coming along? Would love it if the Parlor was a little more cozy with PI's. See what you can do.

How does one send out invite? I see the one to invite members to the group but not for reading a book. I don't use the function very often and forgot how. Enlighten me PI's if you're able. :-)

message 285: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Not sure how to send an invite except for a group private message? Speaking of messages, I got a message today from the author Bruce something or other...I think you all read one of his books one month. He said his first book was free on Amazon. I snatched it up!

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Thanks for the new info posts, Nicole.

I invited Pumpkin Picking author to Oct. read and told her to post to her fan base if she wanted.

Then there was the YA Ghostly read that was put on back burner for Oct. but forgotten about. I also want to get/read new Agatha Raisin and Poirot books just released. Yikes. So many titles I'd like to get to but can't.

message 287: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I have Pushing up Daisies on hold at the library.
I just finished Death of a Nurse, the Hamish MacBeth book. I always read M.C. Beaton books pretty quickly. Does anyone read the Stephanie Plum books? I have that new one on hold as well.

I've some Powell's credit coming so I might use it towards a new copy of Pushing/Daisies and get Poirot later. Never started the Plum series but a PI from old board community urges me to. Another one for the list. ;-)

Yes, author Bruce Beckham. We read 1 of his books a few months ago. Mr.Beckham joined us and it was a fun discussion. So sorry you missed that but if interested I'm sure you could read the threads on the boards here...somewhere. Anyway, so glad you scored his book! I really like his series featuring Detective Skelgill.

I'm on board for either (or both) of those titles - I've read Death of a Pumpkin Carver already but would be ready to read Picker anytime. .

message 295: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Pumpkin picking is the 2nd book in the series so I have the 1st book on hold at the library and will read that ASAP. Then, I'll have to get Pumpkin Picking from B&N since my library system doesn't have it (and i have a gift card)!

I LOVE Stephanie Plum, the newest one will be out in Nov. and guess what?! Yep, you're right, I pre-ordered it! I bought Pushing Up Daisies and I do enjoy the Hamish MacBeth series also, maybe we could do one of those for a side read sometime

message 298: by Tina (new)

LOL, Jill. I knew it was read but I forgot who and where. Started Memory-Vites but apparently they haven't kicked in yet.

Want that Pushing Up Daises...Now! lol
