PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments They are so adorable!! I don't remember if you said or not but are you keeping any or are people waiting to take them home?

Not sure if I mentioned it but I'm off from work until next monday so I have some free time! I am reading lots but I also picked up a bookshelf from my mom's house and now I can shelf all the books that have been laying around my desk! Organizing a bookshelf is only exciting to bookworms I think LOL

Jill Tool | 992 comments The pups aren't ready to go yet they are only 17 days old..lol... they won't be able to leave my house until the end of Aug. No one has inquired about any of them yet, bascially I was waiting until Farrah had her pups, to see what she had and see if there was one that I wanted to keep. I'll start putting prices on the pups when they are four weeks, that way people that need to make payments can. Marrah's boys will go up first then a couple weeks later, Farrah's litter will be going up.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I don't think I'd be able to part with any of them. They are so adorable!!!!!!

Jill Tool | 992 comments It's hard!!!!!!!!!! Really hard, and then again, you find your favorites, and that makes it five times as hard. I've been extremely lucky that all of my dogs have gone to great homes, that have loved them, and still have them, well most of them, some of them that are much, much, much older, that have passed on but even those had a wonderful and happy life! That's all I can ask for!

Read on a newsletter that the Agatha Raisin film adaptation(s) are finally coming to the USA. Now whether they come through pbs, Hallmark or whatever seems unclear. I got that they'd only be available streaming on website. Hope that's not so. Would love if a station picked them up or they were made available on DVD as I prefer movies up on the bigger screen over computer or tablet, ipad screen.

Anyone hear about the release? If you've any info, PLZ post away. Would love to hear more about it!

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I don't know if I've mentioned but if anyone is going to be reading Read to Death, by Terrie Moran, the Once a Month Cozy Book Club on Facebook is having a discussion on it in August. Time/Date TBD. All are welcome! Just send a request on Facebook and I'll accept you into the group.

Oh, and the author will be joining the discussion! Should be fun.

Jill Tool | 992 comments Tina, I hadn't heard that they were bringing Agatha to USA, I'm like you, I would prefer to watch the TV instead of the computer. I'd be interested in info as well if anyone hears anything.

message 159: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I don't have cable so I actually have a computer hooked up to my TV. I'll see if I can find something online about it.

I forget where I heard about Agatha Raisin news...think it might have been a newsletter. May also be on her website. I do hope it airs through TV.

Jill Tool | 992 comments I do to Tina, I love watching the british murder mysteries that they show on PBS and the BBC

message 162: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I love the British shows also. I don't have cable so I have just settle for what's on Netflix.
I've been trying to read more than watch tv though. I'm so behind on my Goodreads challenge! I did stay up until almost midnight last night trying to finish a book. I think the book just wound me up so much I wasn't sleepy and I just kept reading. Unfortunately, I didn't even finish it and will have to read the last few pages when I get home from work today. Do any of you stay up until all hours reading? I would do it more often if I could.

Thanks for the invite, Nicole. I'll check out the book and see what's up. ;-)

These past few months have made Summer '16, the summer from hell. Hopefully the saying, "This too shall pass" has some truth to it. First thing in morning, I spilled coffee on my keyboard and of course ruined it. Then I thought there were other issues w/'puter but thankfully a new keyboard took care of things. Then it was on to pharmacy to finally pick up prescription that was suppose to come in Tues. but didn't get there 'til Thurs. And so on. This too shall pass. HA!

I do Nicole, but three days a week I've been opening and I can't stay up late because 5 am comes awfully early. But on days that I don't have to at work until later, I stay up and read....sometimes I finish a book, sometimes I don't.

I'm participating Nicole, don't know how much I'll get read, sat. have to work until 4, and then I can't stay up to late because I have to be at work at 8 am on sunday. But I'm going to do what I can. I think it's going to be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Last night I started watching a new show on Netflix. I fell asleep while watching it LOL So I shut it off and went to bed. Then i wasn't sleepy so I read a few pages of Cards on the Table and then after about 10 minutes it was lights out!

I know I asked this before but forgot the answer. Kindle or Nook? Nook or Kindle?

I want a reader that does just that. My main reluctance to e-read is mostly that I prefer smell of new ink and fresh paper, feel of book in hand but that aside, I didn't want to put my credit card info on device like on the ipad. The thing is like a computer in and I don't want to trade from it. But if I have it right, a Kindle or Nook has just the books and no card #'s involved. That true?

Anyway, so, I'm wondering what device do the PI's prefer: Nook or Kindle? Do tell, please.

message 172: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments I have both but prefer the kindle because Amazon has my info already and the kindle links to my Amazon account. Plus I also use gift cards or what ever they are called. I buy them at the store or I can recharge it through amazon. If that makes since to you.

With the nook you have to put you're CC # in it, even if you are using the Barnes and Noble gift cards.

Thanks, Jill. It does make sense. First I was leaning towards Nook but then a few things changed my mind to Kindle. Being I have ipad, computer etc., I just want a basic reader and Kindle seems to have reader with size and lack of doo dads that I need. Thanks for the feedback, helping me make up my mind.

message 174: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments I would go with kindle. it's easy to use

Jill, Easy is good. Could use a little more of it in my life. lol

message 176: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I have a NOOK but I have lots of apps on it including the Kindle app so I have no complaints. I can use it for Facebook most other things I would use an Ipad for I'm sure.

message 177: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Thanks, Nicole. With the ipad, I think I'd have to pop my CC# on it etc. Seeing as I don't know it like my 'puter, I'm afraid of hacking my financials. With just a reader, I won't need my CC# on it. I really need to get security for the ipad but I just use it for whenever. I still get use from it but my trusty computer is my main ride on the ether and internet. lol

message 178: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I think when my NOOK asks for a CC I am able to hit SKIP. I don't have to enter anything as long as I log into my account.

I also just got a Goodreads message from an author asking if I'd like to review her book and she'd send it to me. My 2 week vacation doesn't start until August 23rd but I better get crackin early!

Did any of you PI's watch Agatha Raisin's newly streamed Quiche movie? Got it in an Acorn newsletter but haven't indulged yet. I thought I'd seen on Ammy that the DVD will be out Oct. '16. Whether this is so and in US or other country formatting remains to be seen. Anyone have info on this? If you've streamed the eppy and liked it please do tell. I really want to watch it but not on 'puter or ipad. I enjoy my movies up on the movie or TV screen.

Same here, Nicole. That's the cozy in us. Just want to retreat from all the changes, problems, ills of the world and repair to the comfort of familiarity.

Now I don't mind a tweek here, slight improvement there but not when the text, layout, format etc. all changes at the same time. Plus I have 49+ other sites I have to keep up with codes, changes etc.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I guess I'm on a lucky book streak! I just won a book from entering a contest on a blog and then a bunch of books from Killer Characters! Yippee!!!

Nicole, if you do watch it, PLZ let me know if you need to sign up for subscription as well. Often the deals give you a free this or that with the promise of buying something. Hopefully, I'm wrong about this. Enjoy.

Such A Deal! Shopped prices for our recent Parlor Picks (should I've start up issues w/new Kindle) and found Three Complete Novels by America's Mistress of Mystery The Bat / The Haunted Lady / The Yellow Room by Mary Roberts Rinehart as a Like New condition book for just $5.00 + min. S&H. A steal being most single Yellow Room books were way more expensive. Now to get it so I can start reading.

Note: This particular Kindle has payment plan for I believe 5 pymts. over as many months which made it affordable on my budget. Good time to upgrade that particular device as not sure the others have similar plan.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Question for the PIs! Will you read the new Hurcule Poirot book? I'm on the fence.

message 194: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments Well, I read the first one by Sophie Hannah (didn't we read this as a monthly book choice?) and I enjoyed it. I believe the consensus was that is was pretty good and stayed true to Dame Christie's character. I see that Closed Casket by Sophie Hannah won't be released for another few weeks so that gives me time to think about it...especially since it's $12.99 for a Kindle copy.

Wow, I had several new posts but my "Notfications" showed none of them. Hope it was only due to the changes they are making to this place.

Jill, I ordered the bottom of line as all I wanted was a reader. No light as if I start bringing the thing to bed I'll never get any sleep. Plus they say the light is not good for ones sleep rhythm. Anyway, it's the "All-New Kindle E-reader - 6" Glare-Free Touchscreen Display, Wi-Fi."

Same here, Nicole. I'm becoming the homebody lately. I do need to get out more but as we are able to get most things we want from comfort of home, well, it's easy to slip into a rut. Then the changes taking place. Not sure I care for most of them. Take the movie theater for instance...we have those recliner chairs in our theaters. Last time I went people were bringing pillows, blankets and were in pajamas! Then they bring their smart phones and use them during movies. Come on, already! And ticket prices are through the roof. Sorry, I think I'll stay in and watch reruns of Columbo 'til my movies release. Have a Roku kit sitting in closet. We are near ditching cable to install it. Plus, I have one of those movie-like popcorn poppers and almost have recipe down near theater level. Guess it's less a rut if one prefers staying in!

Yes! And where have I been?! I didn't even know there's a new HP to release. But, yes! I will be reading it. I didn't think Sophie Hannah did such a bad job with her first HP. I liked it esp. with the tea room backdrop and of course our old pal, Poirot. He's probably my favorite male sleuth with Columbo nipping at his heels. Agatha Raisin, my fave female PI with Marple close behind.
