Publishing to non-U.S. Amazon sites

I'd like to take my books (both kindle and paperback formats) and get them translated into different languages. For example, doing an Italian version and posting it to amazon.co.it, but not on the U.S. amazon because most Americans don't look at foreign language books. But, I don't see any information out there on this, surprisingly. Has anyone done this and can you enlighten me on how to do it?
