Chapters 9-11 Julia

message 2: by Shomeret (last edited Dec 07, 2015 10:32PM) (new)

Shomeret | 1368 comments Julia is taking Lily on the rounds of specialists, but none have an explanation for her behavior. The neurologist monitored her brain while she listened to Incendio, but his only insight was that she had it in long-term memory. Julia's fellow violinist Gerda thinks that Lily might be having past life memories of Incendio. She also wants to go to Italy to track down the rights holder so that it can be professionally recorded and published. Meanwhile Julia told Rob that she thinks Lily is trying to kill her. As a result, Rob believes that Julia is losing her sanity and that she is a danger to Lily.

Shomeret | 1368 comments When Gerda said that Lily might be having past life memories of Incendio, I wondered if Lily might be the reincarnation of Lorenzo, but I don't think that would explain Lily's aggression toward her mother. Maybe she's a reincarnation of Julia's mother.

Given what Lily has already done, I don't think Julia is paranoid. Yet it does seem likely that Rob will probably commit Julia to an institution and that this will happen fairly soon.

Dawn | 1257 comments Its quite a nightmare for Julia - seeing what she sees in her daughter, and having no one else see what she sees. Gerda is a saving grace.

message 5: by Sue (new)

Sue | 26 comments I felt Julia was the more the problem more so that her daughter I think I am going more by instinct or perhaps I don't want to believe a innocent child might be evil.

I was also fearful that Rob might commit Julia to a mental health facility but was hoping Julia would resolve the mystery before that could happen.

Ann (annrumsey) | 14293 comments I wish Julia could have forced herself to record Incendio herself for Liky's test. I don't think Gerda's performance is representative of Julia's own and her's might have produced different results. I guess this is me still blaming the music triggering something in Lily's memory. Perhaps of a past life. It is not clear whose past life.
I do think it is from these Italian characters. I wonder what the shopkeeper knew about the music when he sold it to Julia. The way he acted, something seemed off to me which might be related to these problems with Lily.

Anne | 139 comments Certainly intriguing and unnerving chapters - such uncertainties, waiting for answers. I'm interested to see where it goes - hidden memories? Instabilities? Past lives? Hereditary genetics? Wonder if it's something to do with what happens to Lorenzo...

message 8: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 14293 comments Anne, yes there was a lot of uncertainty and so many possibilities!

That was my thinking too, ann. It would have made more sense actually for her to have played it live during the testing .

Ann (annrumsey) | 14293 comments Sherry, yes! It was odd that Julia didn't play it for others to prove her point. And during the test too. Not a scientific test otherwise. :)
