taha Hey there

I first read The Hobbit last year and I thought it was a really good book and I was supposed to continue the series but I just couldn't so I am starting it up now but I just need some opinions on which order to read it in. I have already read The Hobbit so I just need a list of the order in which I should read them and also should I watch the movies first or read the books first because I have heard that the movies are amazing but I just do not know :)

Thank you

P.S can you add into the list ALL of Tolkien's works on Middle Earth including The Silmarillion etc.

Dale Pearl the Lord of the Rings trilogy and then the Simarillion ( a very difficult read that one) would be my suggestion. All the other works were done in conjunction with Tolkien's son after J.R.R. had already passed on.

bubblegumpopper I would recommend NOT reading the Silmarillion. I love the LOTR series and the Hobbit and the Silmarillion made me want to claw my eyes out. It is basically a history textbook of Middle Earth...very dry and very hard to follow or get invested in.

taha thank you so much guys really helped and now i am not so confused :)

Chris The Silmarillion is only a dull and difficult read if you have the attention span of a gnat. Its a wonderful book that really gets into the meat of the world and add a tremendous amount of depth to it. I recommend it highly.
