According to an interview by GRRM, the word was 'sword'. Lady Stoneheart asks her to choose between 'the sword' and 'the noose', i.e to either kill Jaime or be hanged as a betrayer. Brienne refuses to choose, so the BwB try to hang her. At the last moment Brienne changes her mind, and screams out 'sword', i.e. that she's willing to kill Jaime. So she's given a reprieve. It's not clear whether the reprieve extends to Podrick as well.

GRRM also said in the same interview that the reason Brienne said 'sword' was to save Podrick, so I think it's safe to assume he's alive.
It's hard to know if Podrick Payne died. It says...
All she could see was Podrick, the noose around his thin neck, his legs twitching. Her mouth opened. Pod was kicking, choking, dying. Brienne sucked the air in desperately, even the rope was strangling her.
Of course, I haven't finished ADWD to know if he pops up but there is a fair chance he is cut loose as she screams the word.
If not, I'm sure he becomes an undead with the band. If The Hound can be apart of their band even though he was associated with the Lannisters, I'm sure Pod can too.

I wonder. Hanging doesn't take a long time, if the knot is done right. Pod ought to be dead. It's not like Stoneheart has any use for him, just for Brienne.
