A lot of people say there are too many vampire books out in the market, whether PNR or UF. What do you think? Are you sick of those fangy heroes?

message 2: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 29 comments Never get sick of them. LOL

message 3: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley | 8 comments No i love my fangy heroes.

message 4: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Sometimes. Depends on my moods too. Like right now I'm taking a break from anything paranormal and reading a modern day love story.

message 5: by Ali (new)

Ali (AliKat13) | 16 comments I agree with Terri and Kimberely, I absolutely love my vampires and can never get enough books about them :)

message 6: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolels) | 19 comments Nah it's never too many; I agree with Jenn, sometimes you just gotta take a break from a genre every once in a while

Chris (bibliophile85) | 24 comments I must admit after a certain woman created a certain sparkly nimrod, my tolerance for the vamps has soured somewhat (I was raised on Louis and Lestat thankee kindly) It seems every two bit hack lately is trying to piggyback on the success of Twilight, and it grows tiresome.

I'm more of a Fae person though in my Paranormal Romance anyway.

message 8: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley | 8 comments Hmmm not a fan of sparkly vampires lol.

message 9: by Heather (new)

Heather | 66 comments Love the vampires but as I have read more PR and UF I tend to lean toward the were culture. I like when you have a mixing of species in one book so you don't get too much of a good thing. The mercy Thompson series does a good job of introducing fae and other worldly creatures into the storyline about werewolves and still you have aside plot about vampires.

message 10: by Katharine (new)

Katharine Sadler | 51 comments I'm more of a fan of weres, but I still love the vamps, especially when they've got personality and true power. I love the vamps in the Jane Yellowrock series and, of course, Mercy Thompson's friend the Scooby-doo van driving vamp. I'm tired of vegetarian vamps.

LOL! I think many of us agree with you there.

message 12: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley | 8 comments Love the werewolves too lol.

message 13: by Krysta (new)

Krysta (krystafig) | 4089 comments I like the fact that there are a lot of different vampire books out there because it gives me a wide variety to pick from.
I agree with some of the previous comments about disapproving of sparkling and vegetarian vampires though.

I'm a fan of the dangerous vamps, not the cuddly kind.

Vera M. I don't think there are too many. I think the problem is that some are just not good!

For sure, but that goes for a lot of genres.

Evie Jayne (eviejayne) | 6 comments Never too many, but it's hard to weed out the wheat from the chaff

message 17: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 67 comments Okay. I've just gotta know. Vegetarian vamps? The only one I know of is Parker in Blood of the Maple (Maggie's Grove, #1) by Dana Marie Bell , and the whole book skews toward the odd side. There are others?

Well, the most well known ones are the Twilight vamps. Then a lot of authors started copying the plot/character profiles but I've forgotten what most of those books are.

Krysta (krystafig) | 4089 comments Eww... Twilight...

I only read one of the Vampire Diaries books, but isn't Stefan a vege-vamp too? I know he is in the TV show...

I know there's more, but I can't think of them now for the life of me!

message 20: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 118 comments Unless by veggie-vamp you mean drinking from bags?
Stefan drinks from bags because when he drinks directly from humans he loses it. (We're talking worse than Damon is/was.)

It's been a while since I read the Vampire Diaries books...and even then I only read one or two of them.
So I could very well be wrong.

Kiersten Fay (kierstenfay) | 525 comments Mod
Technically, none of them are "vegetarians." Stefan drinks blood bags and occasionally from Elena, I think. The Twilight vamps drank only from animals. It was just an inside joke that they called themselves vegetarians. But now, generally, any vamp who refrains from drinking directly from humans is sometimes refereed to as vegetarian.

message 23: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 67 comments Okay. Parker is literally a vegetarian vampire having been cursed by a witch. He drinks blended greens with a drop or two of blood from a friend's finger.

Well that's new!
I haven't read that book/series yet and I'd never heard of such a literal "vegetarian" vampire before!!

message 25: by Chris (new)

Chris (bibliophile85) | 24 comments I'm probably showing my age here (and my general dorkiness lol) but there used to be an old Canadian animated show called Count Duckula about a vampire duck who was a literal vegetarian vampire as well (he drank tomato juice)

message 26: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Oh I remember that!!!
