Multiple entries for same edition?

There appears to be 7 separate "editions" of the July 1 1970 Signet Classics paperback of Stendhal's The Red and the Black. I can't believe that these are actually all different! Could someone check on this?

Are they really valid ISBNs? It just seems so odd that one publisher would issue 7 different versions on the same day... and I believe that 1970 was before ISBN were routinely given. Here is what info I obtained from WorldCAT:

The ISBN's are indeed valid, now whether it really exist in someone's hand, I can't verify. It is virtually impossible to prove something doesn't exist.
