Forged in Steele - 7th in Series
5/21/14
4 stars

I started this series a long time ago and have really enjoyed all the books. KGI is made up of the Kelly Brothers and other ex military personnel. This group takes on rescues that the government agencies don't want to get involved in.

Steele is the leader of one of the three rescue groups and met Maren when they were on a prior rescue mission and has fought his attraction for her. Maren is a doctor and if ever the rescue groups needed a doctor when they were out of the company, they would fly to Costa Rica and Maren would treat them. It was after one such mission when they flew to Costa Rica that Steele finally gave into his attraction and he and Maren slept together. Maren ends up pregnant and she is Kidnapped by an arms dealer. It takes months until they get Maren back and Steele finds out he is goig to be a father.

I really enjoyed this story because we get to see the emotional side of Steele as he admits his love for Maren and their unborn child.

Vicky (librovert) Well, I was just coming to post my book. I had another super busy week and have had no GR time, but I will definitely let you know if I WON'T have a book finished on Friday. Should I still post it? I finished it at 4:30 this morning.

Sue Morris | 1095 comments Vicky post your book and roll so we can start this week's reading....

message 111: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) Can we all please slow down and be a bit more patient? Just because we can roll at midnight does not mean we have to, we have all day on Friday to read. I have had a very busy and stressful past few weeks, but I have (even if at the last minute) found time to read my books each week. As I said before, I will let you all know if I will NOT have my book read by midnight on Friday and you can otherwise assume that I will post before the roll deadline is up. I'm starting to feel like I'm being pressured to finish by Thursday, that has not been an option for me lately, and I don't appreciate the feeling.

I posted my question and walked away to grab breakfast so I did not see Jenne's response right away. When I came back and saw her response I sent a PM to Mandy to double check that we wanted the free pass back instead of the roll of 10 - since it was a good roll. I was doing other things and just saw her response to go ahead and do it, so I will be doing so after I post this.

Three Weeks With Lady X (Desperate Duchesses, #7) by Eloisa James
Three Weeks With Lady X by Eloisa James
7th in a Series

Read: 5.23.14
Stars: 3

I really enjoyed the first six books in this series. I wanted to love this one, but it felt like it was missing something.

The parallels between Thorn's story and his father (The Duke of Villers, A Duke of Her Own) were much appreciated. I also enjoyed Villers sly hand in teaching his son about love.

I loved the witty banter that James gives her characters. I loved the way they finally come together at the end, but I felt like their journey to get their was inconsistent of their characters.

Sue Morris | 1095 comments When you signed up for this ( TEAM) challenge , you said you could read 1 book a week . And to most that is Friday midnight to Friday midnight. Yes Jenne has graciously given us a grace period of 24 hours on Friday, but this is to use in emergency, that is what a grace period is...

I think some are impatient for a reason. This is not the only challenge they are doing, so they have have set days to do certain things. Some need to learn in a team tourney, when you run late, you hurt the whole team....

Never a Hero - 5 th is a Series
5/23/14 - 4 stars

This was a wonderful story about 2 MC that are hurt in different ways. Owen was born without a hand and has been emotionally abused by his mother and Nick is HIV positive. THey meet when Nick moves into the apartment below Owen.Owen has become a loner because his mother has made him feel like a freak since he only has one hand and Nick's sister June has the same condition. Thanks to Nick and June, Owen learns that he isn't that at all and Nick gets Owen out in public more and introduces him to Nick's friends.

The two men discover feelings for each other but Nick fights this attraction because he doesn't want to do anything that will cause Owen to get infected with HIV.

I would say this was my favorite of the Tucker Springs Series so far. I loved Nick and Owen and wasdrawn into this story immediately!

Moving Too Fast (Destiny Bay Romance~Forever Yours Sweet Edition 3) by Helen Conrad 3rd in series
Finished 05/29/2014
Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Review
Moving Too Fast is the third installment in the Sweet series which is based on Carrie and Grant. After reading all three this is clearly my favorite there is just something about these two I just loved. The characters are easy to connect with you can’t help falling in love with them. I loved that the story is also a clean sweet romance it’s one of my favorite themes in romance. The author has created a clever story between a nice girl and bad boy but putting her own unique spin. Moving Too Fast is a fast paced romance that captures the imagination as well as the heart. I actually read the whole book while sitting at the base hospital with a friend having surgery, and made her wait while I finished the last couple of chapters. The book is well written it flows from start to finish, I think the author did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to check out her other book.

Trapped (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #5) by Kevin Hearne
Trapped by Kevin Hearne
5th in a Series

Read: 5.25.14
Stars: 3

Trapped takes place 12 years after the events of Tricked, and I wish I had read the novella Two Ravens and One Crow before diving in to fill in a bit of the gap. I was surprised to see Atticus on genial terms with Odin and it seems the novella would have explained why and made the transition to Trapped seem less awkward.

The main event in Trapped is binding Granuaile to the Earth, a ceremony that is interrupted time and time again by everyone who wants to kill Atticus. There's a lot of action and the trio is always on the move, but the story didn't seem to move forward very far. Similar to the way that I felt Hammered, I feel that the main purpose of Trapped was to start setting up the pieces for Ragnarok.

Stuck in the Middle (Sister to Sister, #1) by Virginia Smith
Alernare: Modern p 500
Read: 5/31/2014
Stars:***
Review: Though I didn't dislike this book....it was not one of my favorites... I found it predictable and really sappy. It tended to drag out at times, just not what I normally read....
Joan Sanderson's life is stuck.
Her older sister, Allie, is starting a family, and her younger sister, Tori, has a budding career. Meanwhile, Joan is stuck at home with Mom and her aging grandmother. Not exactly a recipe for excitement--or romance.

When a hunky young doctor moves in next door, Joan sets out to catch his eye. But it won't be easy. Pretty Tori flirts relentlessly, and Joan is sure that she can't compete. But with a little help from God, Allie, and an enormous mutt with bad manners, Joan begins to find her way out of this rut and into the life she's been hiding from.

Book 1 of the Sister-to-Sister series, Stuck in the Middle combines budding romance, soul searching, and a healthy dose of sibling rivalry that is sure to make you smile.

Review
Once in a Full Moon is a fast captivating werewolf romance that sparks the imagination. I love werewolf stories so it had some big shoes to fill, and I think the author did a great job adding her own unique twists to the story. The characters are unique and easy to connect with I couldn’t help liking Celeste and Brandon. The story is fast paced it’s easy to be drawn into Celeste’s world, I found myself having a hard time putting it down. I think the author did a great job with the first book but she left us a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next one to see what will happen to our couple. I like that the story has clean romance which I found refreshing for a young adult the romance was sweet. Overall I enjoyed the story and look forward to seeing where the series goes.

The Temptation of the Night Jasmine (Pink Carnation, #5) by Lauren Willig
The Temptation of the Night Jasmine by Lauren Willig
5th in a Series

Read: 6.4.14
Stars: 3

The Temptation of the Night Jasmine is a bit diverted from the rest of the Pink Carnation series thus far. It focuses on Charlotte Lansdowne (one of Henrietta Selwick's friends) and Robert, the Duke of Dovedale who has returned to England after years of being abroad in India.

Unlike the first four books in the series (and The Mischief in the Mistletoe which was the 7th published book but overlaps with Christmas festivities at the beginning of this book), Temptation didn't focus overmuch on the French spies. The French definitely had their hands in some of the goings on in this novel - but it wasn't as major of a focus as it was earlier in the series. The danger and adventure was definitely more subdued.

Not that I didn't like it, it was just different.

Orphaned at a young age and raised by her overbearing grandmother, the Dowager Duchess of Dovedale, Charlotte has retreated to books for comfort. The books lead her to daydream of fairy tale romances and happily ever afters, so it's only natural that Temptation be a little more whimsical and a little less action packed.

There were a few minor things that bothered me, but overall a solid book. Penelope next - that should be a trip!

Midnight Crossroad (Midnight, Texas, #1) by Charlaine Harris byCharlaine Harris
Read: 6/10/2014
Stars:*****
Review: What a great story, so different from her Sookie Stackhouse books but another winner !!!!!

Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town.

There’s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There’s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own).

Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth...
