Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

Sue Morris | 1095 comments Hi team!!!!!

So ready to start and I don't want to be captain....

As far as names are concern all I can think of is In it 2 win it.

message 7: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) Hi everyone! I'm super excited for another round of this, can't wait to start! :D

I would also prefer not to be captain - I'm super busy lately and too erratic with Goodreads to feel comfortable taking on the responsibility.

For team names... I like In it 2 Win It, another suggestion would be 2 Can Play at This Game. But that's all I've got - I'm generally terrible at names, lol!

Read: Hotshot (Buchanan-Renard, #11) by Julie Garwood
Date:4/19/2014
Rating:4stars
Review: Julie Garwood happens to be one of my favorite authors and she hit a homerun on this book also....I love how she makes this fast paced book come alive.
Peyton Lockhart and her sisters have inherited Bishop’s Cove, a small, luxurious oceanfront resort, but it comes with a condition: The girls must run the resort for one year and show a profit—only then will they own it.

A graduate of a prestigious French culinary school, Peyton has just lost her job as a food critic. Out of work and in a bad place personally, a year doing something completely different sounds wonderful.

There are countless challenges and too many people who want to stop the sisters from succeeding. Among them are Peyton’s contentious cousins, who are outraged that they didn’t inherit the resort, as well as a powerful group of land developers who have been eyeing the coveted beachfront property.

It’s soon apparent to Peyton that their efforts are being sabotaged, but she refuses to let the threats scare her—until she’s nearly killed. She calls on her childhood friend and protector, Finn MacBain, now with the FBI, and asks for his help. He saved her life once; he can do it again.

Pride's Run (A Wolf's Pride, #1) by Cat Kalen
Date:4/20/2014
Rating:4stars

Review:
I received Prides Run in return for an honest review from the publisher via NetGalley. Pride has spent her whole life in the captivity of her master living in cages. She is a werewolf who’s been trained to be a tracker who works for her master as a killer. Her parents are dead killed by the master, and now he has plans to mate her to Stone the alpha who hates her in hopes of breaking her. When at the last minute Pride is sent on a mission she knows this may be her only chance to get away before it’s too late. Her target is a young boy her age, but after looking at him he’s also a werewolf and when the chance arises she takes it to run away.

Pride isn't just running from her handlers who will drag her back to her master but also the PTR (Paranormal Task Force) who will put a bullet in her without a second thought. Trusting people doesn’t come easy for Pride but if she’s going to survive she’ll have to trust Logan the stranger at that was her mark. The pair head off into the forest fleeing the PTR as well as her handlers. Pride has never been free before so this is all new, but with the help of Logan he teaches her to survive. Will the PRT or the handlers find her before it’s too late?

I instantly connected with Pride she’s had such a rough life she captured my heart. I rooted her own through the book she’s tough not your wimpy character but she’s also unsure about the real world. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Stone at first but by the end he proved he’s not a bad guy. What can I say about Logan other than he’s awesome; he’s patient with Pride and sees her for the person she is not what she looks like. He’s an honest good guy who I think is perfect to pull her out of her shell and teach her to live among the humans.

I’ve had my eye on Pride’s Run for a long time and when I saw it on NetGalley I had to request it. However it’s sat on my kindle for ages because I just was overwhelmed with books for review. Yesterday morning I selected it, captivated right from the start with Prides story, she’s not your typical werewolf. The whole story is packed full of action, emotions, romance, and self-discovery. I think the author has taken the werewolf concept putting her own unique spin on the idea creating a unique refreshing story. My only complaint is I’m confused what they look like when the shade from human to werewolf some of the descriptions almost make me feel like it’s not a wolf just a tough skinned human body. Other than that I loved the story, the characters are engaging and it kept my drawn in from start to finish. The story does have a potential love triangle which I try to avoid but due to the cliff hanger I know I need to read the next book to see what happens. It was hard to put down I would have stayed up all night if I wasn’t so tried. There is a sex scene but it’s mild so teens as well as adults should enjoy the story.

Week #1; Spot 11

Kiss of Steel (London Steampunk, #1) by Bec McMaster
Kiss of Steel by Bec McMaster
Read: 4/19
Rating: 2 Stars

The third paragraph of chapter 2 reads: "She's mine." She just didn't know it yet.

Maybe I should have stopped there, but I didn't. Maybe the fact that I've read some really great romances lately spoiled this for me, I don't know.

There were some interesting ideas behind McMaster's world, but it ultimately fell flat for me. I felt like it tried so hard to be unique that it ended up feeling forced and cliche anyway.

The hero's name is, of all things, Blade. Did he find his way to Steampunk Whitechapel from the Black Dagger Brotherhood?

The romance story line was boring and obvious. I wasn't particularly rooting for them, because there didn't seem to be any real hurdles for them to get over (outside of their own obstinace). Their romantic interludes were not impressive and didn't flow very well and somehow during their first sexual encounter where the hero OMGCANNOTWAITTOHAVEHER, he manages to fill several pages with foreplay. Yeah, okay.

I'm vaguely interested in what is up with the Queen, but don't particularly want to read 4 more of these books to find out what her deal is.

Vicky (librovert) Sue wrote: "I'm not sure why , but I just can't get into Steampunk"

I think Steampunk is fun, but it's so mainstream right now that it's tough to find a book that does it really well. I think a lot of authors are playing off of the popularity of it. That's part of what I didn't like about Kiss of Steel - it didn't NEED to be Steampunk.

Can't wait to see what we roll for this week! :D

I am loving this series...With its fast paced story and colorful characters...

ZANDER—The most feared of all the Eternal Guardians. It’s rumored he can’t be killed, and he always fights like he has nothing to lose. But as a descendant of the famed hero Achilles, he’s got to have a vulnerability… somewhere.

Forces of daemons are gathering and have broken through the barriers of the Underworld. Now more than ever the Eternal Guardians are needed to protect both their own realm and the humans’. Zander can’t afford to think about what might have been with the bewitching physician he once regarded as his soul mate. But with eternity stretching before him, he also can’t fathom spending his life without the one woman who makes him feel most alive. Perhaps he’s found his weakness, after all…

Braving the Elements (Darkness, 2) by K.F. Breene Braving the Elements #2
Date:4/29/2014
Rating:5stars

Review

I received Braving the Elements in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by AToMR Promotions. After learning that she’s not just human and her life may be in danger wherever she goes Sasha has no choice but to stay at the mansion and learn how to control the elements or she could be a risk to herself and others. Her relationship with Jared is over he’s moved away to start a normal life leaving her behind to live her own life. Sasha knows that deep down she’s drawn to Stefen but he’s fated for another so she knows that there will never be anything with them. When he is forced to give her blood to save her life no once but twice they form a connection allowing each other to sense how they feel.

Sasha must learn to control the elements she has the ability to use the black color which is the most powerful and strongest magic. So she has a lot of potential to be great she just needs the training which is hard because she hasn’t been raised around the elements like the other students. When Stefen sends her to a charms class taught by the women who wants to be his mate things go wrong but not just for Sasha her bodyguard Charles also has to learn the charms. Will Sasha ever figure it out? Will her and Stefen ever have anything more than just a connection?

I love Sasha even more in this book she’s learning to deal with being in a new world but she’s not letting her struggles take her down. She’s learning from her mistakes and finding her place in Stefen’s world, even if she does make a few enemies’ she’s also making friends. My heart goes out for Charles he’s not a bad guy just not the right guy for Sasha but he’s still willing to risk it all to protect her. As for Stefen he’s so yummy I’m glad he and Sasha are figuring it out.

To be honest the first book was a little shell shocking. So I was a bit hesitant to start the second book but I wanted to see how it would play out between the characters. After all I really like Sasha she’s the kind of character I can connect with and I just can’t seem to get enough of her world. The author has taken the vampire concept but put her own unique spin creating a new race of humans that I just can’t seem to get enough of. I honestly started this book and finished it within a few hours it was hard to put down, the whole story grabs you right from the start packed with emotions, action, magic, romance and even a little mystery. While the first one was loaded with sex this one is packed full of story with only a few steamy scenes. I think the author has done a fantastic job weaving a story that captures the imagination as well as the heart. I can’t wait to start the third book which I have sitting right here ready to go.

The Drowned Cities (Ship Breaker, #2) by Paolo Bacigalupi
The Drowned Cities by Paolo Bacigalupi
Read: 5/1/14
Stars: 2

Review: I really loved Ship Breaker, the first book in this loosely connected series and I really wanted to love The Drowned Cities. I didn't.

I was excited to see Tool mentioned in the description of this book, he was one of my favorite characters from Ship Breaker and was hoping to explore his story more. Although he plays a big role in the story I didn't feel like we learned any more about him in this book.

I loved the world and the conflict that Bacigalupi created in The Drowned Cities and I appreciated the hopefully dark outlook in the book, but I really had trouble with the characters. Of the four major characters there was one that I liked and was rooting for - Mouse. Mahliah and Ocho were both irritatingly immature and I couldn't have cared less about them getting out of their issues.

Overall - quite disappointed in this book. :(
