I'm actually more in favor of the third person style because I think that the three characters in Lost Hero tell the story better and more broadly than Percy did on his own in the Percy Jackson series.

Son of Neptune, Chapter 17: (view spoiler)[ Here's what I think Frank should do about his driftwood problem - Death/Thanatos is tied up right now, right? Gwen came back from the dead so obviously other demigods could try to do the same.
Frank is so terrified of that little piece of wood burning up because he does when it does. So I think Frank should just set it on fire now, let it burn down, die with it, and then try to escape Hades and come back to life the way Gwen did. He could ask Nico for help getting out. Then once he's out and alive again, the piece of wood is gone and it can't kill him again. Problem solved!
Anyway that's just my idea.

Helen: I get where you're coming from. I guess I just find these characters less funny and more one-dimensional than the ones in the Percy Jackson series. I'm a little sad though because I usually really like third person.

I see what you mean. The characters don't have as much depth yet as Percy did. But I think that comes with time! I fell in love with Leo, at least, by the end of the Lost Hero.

Chapter 3: (view spoiler)[Glad to see Percy again! I'm not so sure how I feel about the camp. I mean, I like some parts of it, but I find others cold and disturbing. I can't believe how they treat the fawns. I think they should utilize their abilities like camp halfblood does. At the same time, I think sorting people by cohort unites the camp more than parental sorting does. (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure how I feel about it all. A part of me wants to see the love they could have had, but at the same time, I think they have both found a new love. However, I don't think their love is extinguished, just that it is more of a friendly one. Also, I don't think Percy has made his big sacrifice and I think it has to with Annabeth. Chapter 32: (view spoiler)[I like the contrast between Tartaras' evil and the goodness in Bob. Plus, it shows that there is still hope and that good can live among evil and not everything is evil. I'm glad Percy realized he was taking advantage of Bob. Plus, I like how Bob chose who he wanted to be, having experienced both sides. (hide spoiler)]

I liked the new characters in this book - Hazel was stronger and more interesting than Piper, in my opinion. Percy has always been too much of a posterboy perfect hero for me so I didn't enjoy his POVs as much as the other two. I missed Leo the whole book and was so happy when he popped up at the end :)
I thought the way they killed Alcyeonus (however it's spelled) was too easy. There was so much build-up to the fight and then the gang just dragged him out of Alaska and punched him a few times and he was dead. Too easy, but whatever.
