"The body you are wearing used to be mine." So begins the letter Myfanwy Thomas is holding when she awakes in a London park surrounded by bodies all wearing latex gloves. With no recollection of who she is, Myfanwy must follow the instructions her former self left behind to discover her identity and track down the agents who want to destroy her.

She soon learns that she is a Rook, a high-ranking member of a secret organization called the Chequy that battles the many supernatural forces at work in Britain. She also discovers that she possesses a rare, potentially deadly supernatural ability of her own.

In her quest to uncover which member of the Chequy betrayed her and why, Myfanwy encounters a person with four bodies, an aristocratic woman who can enter her dreams, a secret training facility where children are transformed into deadly fighters, and a conspiracy more vast than she ever could have imagined.

Read twice as much as I intended to last night because I got really into it. I'm liking it A LOT. I hope it stays this good.

Where I am: (view spoiler)[I'm not sure how I feel about this new twist with her sister showing up. It seems out of left field and un-plot-related. But hopefully it will all come together in the end. I'm definitely interested in all the stuff the old Rook Thomas has dicovered, and I like learning about all the other members of the Court. (hide spoiler)]

So, I started this up again last night and got so into it that I read 50% of it in 24 hours. My basic reaction? SO GOOD! (view spoiler)[ I got to a point where I was hoping that old Myfanwy would turn out to be evil, but sadly that did not pan out. I like how it did turn out, though. The author is apparently working on the second one, still, and I'm super looking forward to that. I do think it was longer than it needed to be in parts. I understand. I highly recommend it when you get to it, but it's kind of huge.

Same. A well written book, but it was also boring T.T. Never got to finish it.
