I chuckled softly at Kyle words, knowing that it may or may not be true. I was never too hungry after I ate something, no matter how big or small it was. But, of course, being a firefighter, that might change because of all the running around and exercise that I had to do. I didn't know, I wasn't even sure I would do anything today other than learn the rules and such. When Kyle motioned for me to sit next to him, I smiled and sat down slowly, feeling a bit nervous with so many strangers around. But I wouldn't let that show, and I just began to eat.

My smile widened ever so slightly when Julian sat down next to me, clapping him on the back reassuringly before starting in on my own breakfast. Conversation was light, most of the table's occupants to preoccupied with stuffing their faces. Then Simon suddenly broke in with a, "So Julian. What made you want to be a firefighter?" he asked, and I gave him a sideways look. "Really? He's barely been here for half an hour and you're already asking questions?" Simon shrugged. "Why not? Unless you don't want to answer." he said, directing this to Julian. "In which case you can tell me to mind my own damn business and I'll continue shoving food down my throat."

(( I want to, I bought it off eBook, but then I realized how much I hated reading on my tablet, so I'm going to order the actually paperback book when i get money (: I've been wanting to really, really badly though. ))

I felt a small tingle go up my spine when Kyle patted me on the back, and I could help myself from sending a smile his way. I could already tell that he would be the one I was going to talk to the most, and he was fun to tease. When the other guy, Simon I think his name was, asked me, I just waved my hand.
" It's fine, I don't mind. I worked at an office before this, and it was really boring, and the people there were awful. There was a guy there and we had a...large disagreement. So, I figured this would be something that I would be more involved with," I replied to them with a shrug. I decided to keep the fact that I was gay from everyone else, I wasn't sure how they'd react to that.

(I loved it. I also hate reading on my tablet, but I was willing to do it for that book. And it was worth it. :'))

Simon studied Julian for several moments before shrugging, scraping his plate clean. "Hm. If you want involvement, then you've got that with being a firefighter." he grunted, though I could tell there was a hint of a smile ghosting across his features. Getting up, he carried his plate towards the sink. "And if you ever find yourself in the position where you have to rescue the guy who you had a disagreement with, feel free to leave his ass to burn. I won't judge." Rolling my eyes at him, I sneakily scraped part of my food onto Julian's plate when I thought he wasn't looking; the boy bad to eat more than scraps, after all. "Don't keep telling new recruits to leave people behind. That's counterproductive." I complained as the others began finishing up, searching for nonexistent leftovers. Simon just laughed, waving his dishcloth in the air as he cleaned his plate. "Just letting him know no one's going to judge him otherwise." he tossed over his shoulders, and I just snorted. "Don't let the fool convince you otherwise." I whispered to Julian, finishing off my own plate. "He's just inhaled too much smoke. Fried what little brain cells he already had."
"I heard that." were the words that followed the flying dishcloth, which I easily ducked with a laugh.
"You were supposed to."

I listened to Simon's words, not being able to laugh softly at them. Of course, I'd never do that, even though I was very, very angry at him for what he did. But Simon seemed...rather nice, and I followed him with my eyes as he went over to the sink, checking him out, though trying to keep it discrete. He was a nice looking man, not as nice as the man sitting next to me of course, but nice looking. Looking back to my plate, I thought that it looked a bit...fuller. Though it might have been my imagination, shrugging, I continued to eat while Kyle was talking to me, smiling softly at him. Everyone else was finishing up, so I hurried quickly. I figured they'd be in a rush, since a call could come in at any minute. I finished a little bit after the others did and brought my plate to the sink, washing it.

As quickly as it had filled at the scent of food, the kitchen was emptying, the rest of the guys beginning to head off to do their daily routine. Polishing off my own plate, I brought it up to the sink next to Julian's, starting to wash it as well. It was just the two of us now, and I let out a soft, content sigh. "So how was your first breakfast with the rest of the house?" I asked with a cheesy grin, handing the other man a washcloth as I started to dry my own plate. "Looks like you survived it this time, huh?"
