Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2016!
Hello everyone. Myy name is Ginette. I'm from Menomonee Falls, WI. I like all kinds of different books and switch genres based on my mood. I love to read but with work and kids I've been feeling like I haven't been reading as much as I would like. I hope this group will help me to stay motivated and read more.
Hello there everyone. My name is Hayley and I've only recently joined Goodreads and I'm so glad I did. I'm from Cheshire in the UK, but I'm moving to Perth, Australia, in the New Year. I feel like I've been neglecting my reading in the past couple of years, so it feels great to find a community that adores books and inspires me to read more!
Hi! I’m from Missouri. I enjoy reading different kinds of books from fiction to non-fiction. I found the group in a search. My goal is to try and read 20 to 25 books next year.
Hey everyone! My name is Kaylee and I am from Oklahoma.I am so excited about finding this group! Goodreads has been a new experience for me but I love it. It is nice to have good conversation with people who enjoy reading as much as I do.
I don't know that I have one specific favorite genre. I am a sucker for anything by Stephen King, but I recently read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and fell completely in love with the story. Now I'm on a kick of reading anything that will break my heart... Depressing, right? But aren't the best books the one's that make you feel something?!
My reading goal for 2016 is 30 books. I'm sure a few of those will be books I have already read (Harry Potter for sure) but I am hoping to discover some new favorites as well. I am currently reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara but I am still in the first chapter.
I love recommendations, so if you have any please feel free to send them my way!
Happy reading!
Hello. My name is Josh and I'm from west central Ohio. I learned about Goodreads in 2014 when my library put out the 2015 Reading Challenge.i thought I'd try something different by interacting with fellow bibliophiles this year.
I'll read almost anything. Though my favorite genres are horror, science fiction, and fantasy. Mostly from the 19th Century through the mid-20th Century.
I want to read at least 2-3 books a month in 2016.
I'm sure to be back on an irregular basis asking odd questions about the 2016 Reading Challenge. So please bear with me.
Hi Everyone,My name is Neykia and I'm excited to make a commitment to reading more! I'm originally from Lake Charles Louisiana but I currently reside in Hampton Virginia. I love all kinds of books really although History and War/Military focused books tend not to keep my attention, neither do tedious reads. I've committed to 12 books this year and hopefully with the support of fellow readers I actually surpass that goal.
Happy Reading Y'all!
Hey everyone! My name is Adele and I live in the United States (Pennsylvania to be exact). I am a sophomore in college and I'm about to go start the spring semester. I am currently a psychology major but next semester I plan on changing my major to early childhood education. I'll honestly read just about anything and I'm always open to recommendations. I found the group on the homepage of Goodreads and knew instantly that I needed to be a part of it! I'm looking forward to meeting new people and reading new books (my two favorite things). Happy reading and happy new year!!
welcome Adele! I live in NJ and have my degree in Psychology. Early childhood development is a great field as well. there are a number of challenges here and a recommendations thread to help you think outside the box .
Hello! My name is Ashley and I am from Iowa. I was born and raised in Iowa and live here with my husband and 4 children (ages 15,8,5,3) I've loved reading since I was young and I will read just about anything. I typically read mysteries but I have found that I really enjoy fantasy and historical fiction as well. My library is one of my favorite places and I love getting lost in a good book.My 2015 Challenge goal was 75 books that I set in October and I'll be just shy of reaching that goal.
I'm setting a pretty lofty goal of 150 books for myself in 2016.
I look forward to seeing what everyone's goals are for this year and what everyone is reading.
Happy Reading and Happy New Year!!
Hello everyone! I'm Fatma, 13 y.o. from Indonesia. I read mostly in Indonesian (be it a translated book or not), but I try my best to read in english too.I love books, and kinda addicted to fantasy, as well as mystery and horror. But I read anything, tho it seems that I like fictions more than non-fictions.
I've reached my goal for this year, and that's honestly kind of amazing since I lost my mood to read book. And for 2016, my goal is to read at least 25 books. But I have piles of books and perhaps, just perhaps, I can read more than I expect.
Happy reading and happy new year, people! Looking forward to befriend you all :)
Hi Everyone,My name is Emerald and I'm from Oregon. I'm currently in my fourth year of graduate school, and am noticing that my bookshelf has been piling up with books I've had time to purchase, but not read. My goal for 2016 is to read 52 books from my shelves. I've chosen the list, roughly 13 from each of the four major food groups: Star Wars, Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Graphic Novels. My book-buying guideline for the year is I can buy a book each time I read two books I already own. (Because really, I'm not actually going to stop buying books for a year while I work on this project...)
I was poking about on Goodreads looking for a group to help support me in this project, and it looks like I found the perfect place!
Thanks!
Emerald
Hi everyone!I'm from New Orleans, though thinking of making a move in 2016. Really, I like to read ll kinds of books, but young adult and experimental fiction are a lot of my favorites, as well as essays on queer theory and auto-biographies.
Finding the group was as easy as doing a search for the 2016 reading challenge. Since I joined up late last year, I ended up guessing a low number, but wanted to be on top of it this year. I haven't made my goal post yet, but I'm going to aim for at least 45 books in 2016!
Looking forward to sharing my progress and thoughts with others in the group, and reading up on how everyone else is doing. :)
Hello all, My name is Julia and I'm from Ohio. I joined the group to try to stick with my reading goals this year and to enjoy discussion and recommendations from fellow bibliophiles.
I read across all genres and usually have one fiction and one non-fiction book going at all times. I also listen to audiobooks. I'm hoping to expand my reading a bit this year to include more books from outside the US.
Looking forward to seeing people's recommendations and discussion in the new year!
Wow, so many new intros! Hello All, and welcome to the group. It was so interesting to read all of your introductions. Make sure to check out all of the different challenges we have, and remember, this group is for FUN! We only keep score for encouragement, we don't kick people out for not posting, and we enjoy every ones recommendations!
Hi, I am Elissa! I teach third grade and during the school year it is hard to find time to read. During summer and longer breaks I read as much as I can. I just finished See Me ... I'm a big Nicholas Sparks fan!
Hi! I'm Martha and I live in the Pacific Northwest. I've been on Goodreads for a few years but just started participating in various groups. I've was involved in two challenges last year and this year I'm going overboard with more than two challenges. I don't have a set number of books to read this year, I'm just going to see what I can accomplish with my challenges.
I read mostly fiction and like contemporary literary fiction, especially books from countries other than the US. I enjoy nonfiction categories like medical or biological science, anything about animal behavior, and history and social science. My eldest son has introduced me to graphic novels and I like those too.
I look forward to getting to know people in the group and getting inspired from what others are reading.

Hi, I am Shipra from Delhi, India. I love to read romance, paranormal, historical fiction, books with strong female character and stories about various dimensions of life. Some of my favorite authors are Alice Munro, Simone de Beauvoir, Barbara Kingsolver, Haruki Murakami. I equally enjoy quick reads like Debbie Macomber and others of her genre. I look forward to getting to know you all and read some new books.
Hi, I'm Mary Sue from New Brunswick, Canada. Over the past few years, I have been chipping away at the list of 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. While I know I will never get through the entire list, it has made me broaden my reading horizons and opened me up to genres and authors I would never have looked at before. My goal this year is to read 50 books.
I'm Sarah and from Dublin, Ireland. I really need to get back into reading, and my plan is to get so into reading and back to buying 'physical' books that I'll have to buy a bookshelf from Ikea and start my own little library by the end of the year. :)
My 2016 aim is 50 books [or 1 book a week] which is huge for someone who barely read 10 this year.
I like darkish, emotional books. I love anything that does with angels, demons etc.
Hello! I'm Darcie and I live in the United States. I love to read! However, after becoming a stay at home mom I noticed I was reading less and less. When I did read, it was usually young adult or cheesy romances. They are quick, easy reads and I didn't have to think. By joining this group, I'm hoping to find books that are challenging and entertaining. As much as I love being a mom, toddlers don't always give me a mental challenge. Haha! Thanks and happy reading y'all!
morning and welcome to you both! there is a number of things to jump into please join us. There are two monthly and quarterly challenges running and 12 yearly ones already posted. please dont hesitate to ask if you need anything happy reading and happy new year!
Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm from California. I like to read mystery, murder mystery, true crime, and chick lit. I haven't used Goodreads regularly in about 3 1/2 years. I found this group when I was searching for 2016 book challenge. My goal this year is to read 5 books a month and complete the Pop Sugar 2016 reading challenge and the Book Riot read harder challenge.
Hi my name is Kristyn I just recently started to join Goodreads. I am from NJ. I enjoy reading a large amount of fiction from young adult, romance and mystery. Also, I really like to read biographies. My reading goal for the year is going to be to broaden my reading and reach out to other genres I might not have previously read. I also want to work on my TBR books that I have at home currently. I am aiming for 60 books for the year!
Jennifer said: Hi all,

so I'm pretty excited to say the least
I live in New York
I'm currently reading the luckiest girl alive (which I can not put down) but I'm so excited to read the Martian next month.
my goal is to try and read one book a month.
I'm usually pretty open to try any genre as long as it's a good read.

Hello everyone! My name is Karen and I am from Toronto. I learned about Goodreads from a friend and am looking forward to participating in the group. I love to read a variety of books but especially love fiction. I belong to a book club that meets once every 6 weeks and appreciate reading books that I would not have otherwise picked up. I'm excited to see what others in the group are reading and look forward to being an active member.
Joined the group..did the ABC's of me but never came over here to introduce myself. So......
HELLO!! My name is Lindsey and I'm from Orange County California. I started on Goodreads a few years ago and slowly started getting into groups. I have had some great challenges that have pushed my reading limits and gotten me to read some new books I usually would not. I try to read a range of books. Reading has always been my escape in this crazy world and my "bad" habit is that I can't get rid of books. I currently have over 900 books in my room. I love seeing all the books in my room, it's relaxing and comforting.
I'm still in college but already have my child and adolescent degree and a early childhood special education credential. I will start my second credential September 2016. When I'm not reading or at school I'm a part time nanny for 4 families. One family has a 4 year old girl, 2 1/2 year old boy, and a 6 month old boy. The second family has a 4 year old boy. The third family has a 14 month old boy and the fourth family has a 9 month old boy. Therefore all four families keep me busy and feeling like a child (which I love).
I'm excited to get active in this group, meet others, and see what everyone reads.

Hello from Winston-Salem, NC. Reading is like breathing but there is never enough time for ALL on my "want to read" list. I read for pleasure, for knowledge, and to determine what books would be appropriate to use for ESL students. I'm hoping this group will keep me inspired to live to to my reading goals.

Hello all! I'm Em, from California. I have just found and join reading challenges to make my hobby more fun. As for reading, I go through "phases" Like I want to read all of one genre of book and even though I might LOVE that book you have in your hand, you are just going to have to wait until I rotate to that genre.
For 2016 my goal is to read 52 books (not picture books, that is a whole other challenges
Well hello everyone. My name is Sarah and I am new to the group and am looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading.I am a teacher and mother of 4. This often influences what I read. Hi, everyone. I'm Violet, and I'm from Texas. I'm trying to challenge myself to read more books this year (and take a chunk out of my TBR pile), and I read in several blogs that Goodreads is a good place to keep up with all your challenges, so I made my account in the wee hours of the morning when I couldn't sleep. I'm not picky when it comes to books (I've been known to read encyclopedias on occaaion), but I prefer classic literature, fantasy, and mystery/suspense. I lean towards fiction more, which is why one of my personal challenges is to read more non-fiction. I hope to meet some friendly people here and get some wonderful recommendations. Thanks for having me!
Hi everyone! And happy New Year!!I'm Rikke and I'm from Denmark. My favorite genre is fantasy, and yet I'll ready just about anything, if it catch my attention. I rarely read actual romance or chik-lit, though, and I do prefer my reads to be speculative rather than 'real-life' stories. Unless I'm in the mood for reality, obviously.
In 2015 I completed 100+ reads in the Goodreads reading challenge. This year I intend to read less. Like a book a week, give or take. Because I get too competitive with myself, and really, I shouldn't spend quite as much time reading. I have lots of books I can't wait to read, so this year I thought it would be fun to add a different kind of challenge, instead of just quantity, that's partly why I joined this group. I also hope to make some new friends, and to be inspired. You're can friend request me too, if you like.
Hi all! My name is Maggie and I'm from Canada. I'm interested in all types of books and found this group when looking for a place to set my 2016 reading goal. I have no preferred genre - I just love to read. My goal for this year is to read 35 fiction books.
I look forward to participating in this group, please feel free to add me as a friend.
Good Luck Everyone!
- Maggie

Wanted to challenge myself and get to know more readers around the world.
Hey, all :) I'm Sahana, from India. Last year I only managed to read 50 books, so this year I'm getting in a hundred if it kills me. I'll read any genre, except for most romances, those kind of bore me after a bit, sadly. Feel free to message me!
Hi! My name is Jeremy from Virginia. I love to read historical fiction, history/adventure nonfiction, classic literature and fiction of pretty much any type.I have kids, so my Wife and I are busy. I hope to read 20 books at least.
Hello everyone! My name is Justyna and I'm from Poland. I've only been on Goodreads since December, so I'm still a bit new around here. I've decided to try a reading challenge just to motivate myself to try and read more. I mostly read fantasy and travel books, but I'll read all the other stuff as well if I find them interesting.
I'm starting with a challenge of at least 40 books this year.
Happy New year you guys, I'm Mark from Philippines, I read many types of books, mostly adventure, romance, and book that gives me logos in like (say wuuut?) right now I'm all about Jeff Erno and Dirk Hunter, and I'm planning to challenge myself in reading 150 books.
Hi I'm Sarah and I have a book goal of 40 books by the end of 2016. I found this group by searching for 2016 reading challenges.
Hello everyone. My name is Camille and I'm from the Caribbean, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I love books, am engrossed by every genre. I am aiming for at least 36 books for 2016,
Looking forward to meeting new people who share my passion
Hey everyone! My name is CT and I am from North Carolina. I love reading all types of books, especially nonfiction (outdoor adventure/climbing are my favorite, and I love history/war) although I spent a lot of time the past couple years reading through fiction books like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. My wife makes fun of me for not being a "true" reader since I will read about 5-7 books a year and listen to 15-20.I found the group because I love setting goals and wanted to set a 2016 goal and accidently signed up for the group, but I'm glad I did! My goal this year is to read 25 books. Excited to be a part of the group!

My favorite type is fantasy, sci-fi, crime(detective) books. I'm a software developer, so I also read some books for my job.
I found this group just because I want set my 2016 goal before the calendar pass this year.
My current goal is marking all the books in my Kindle as read(maybe I can do it five years later :) after considering the increment of new books). I also have lots paper book to read, but next year I'll spend most time on my Kindle.
