Hi, I am Stipe, I'm 20 years old male from Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia where I am a student of Croatian language and literature and information science . I recently joined Goodreads (I still haven't rated all the books I read before, I feel like every day I remember some other book I forgot to rate). In my free time I prefer reading Modernism and Crime Ficton.I'm gonna set my goal at 101 books - when I see the number I feel it's maybe too much, but hey, it's just a book every 3,6 days, so it must be manageable. :)
Hello everyone! My name is Alice and I am from England. I'm in my mid-teens and a huge bookaholic! I read basically anything that is sent my way. My reading goal for 2016 is 100 books but it will be a bit different because:- 50 books on my kindle
- 50 books in print paperback/hardback editions
I am a speed reader so there is a possibility that I might exceed that goal but then again, we'll just have to wait and see :)
My very favourite genres are YA, NA, Romance, Thrillers, Historical Fictions and Fantasy but like I mentioned before, I read anything. Feel free to add me on Goodreads if you would like to. :)
Hi. My name is Rachel. I am from Chicago, IL. My favorite genres are dystopian, YA, thriller and science fiction. I found this group trying to find a cool reading challenge group to engage with. My goal for 2016 is to read more. This year I did not read enough book; I did not reach my goal :( My goal for 2016 is to read 26 books!!
Howdy. I'm Debra and I live in southern California. My favorite genres are YA, fantasy/science fiction, historical fiction, and some classics (I also read quite a bit of manga). I pretty much grew up in my school libraries and befriended all the librarians to pick their brains on recommendations. College kinda slowed me down on personal reading and unfortunately I have not regained my prior reading glory. So hoping to help remedy that this year. Looking forward to joining some of the challenges you guys have set up here :)
hi Debra welcome! what is your favorite book you have finished?Seda, welcome! How do you plan on breaking up your sifi or can you read one genre all year?
Deepest Derbyshire, that's UK, reader and writer, in a small local reading group and fascinated by the idea of a world wide one.My 3 military history books were all published back in the 70s but I have 2 more now approaching completion, both MH.
I read across the genres; the reading group has taught me not to poopoo any book or style or author and being introduced to something outside my normal parameters is exactly what I am looking for.
Surprise Good read for me in 2015 was Shardik, Richard Adams. Expecting something like I imagined Watership Down to be (I haven't read it) I was blown away by the writing style and the powerful story telling.
I usually clock up around 50 books a year, a mix of serious and not so, and have signed up for the 2016 Challenge and would do so in the 2015 but can't find my journal with the books in!
HeyMy name is Sibel.
I'm from Romania, Constanta, Ovidiu.
I like to read any book in general regardless of gender, but that is not boring to be good.
I wanted to join a book club and gave online search Goodreads.
So far I have not done a purpose in reading.
My trick for reading is to always have a book with me, no matter where I go. I have several going at once sometimes too. I keep one at work to read at lunch, this book also travels with me to doctors appointments. I keep one on the nightstand. Short books are kept in the bathroom, just in case. It's amazing how much I can read like that.
Like Kimberly I usually have 2 or 3 books on the go at the same time, but I read them to suit my mood or circumstances. I usually have some research in the form of a heavy serious factual book, so there will be a lighter read to contrast with it.
I may also have a recommended book (say the reading groups current choice or a friend's suggestion) which I 'have' to read but don't always feel like.
Hi, I'm Katherine.I'm from the UK, I love to read mostly any kind of book, the only thing I can't stand in books are whinny/useless characters or characters that become that way after meeting other people throughout the book. My favorite genres are humor, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, and mystery/thriller books.
I've already met my goal for this year, which was to read 300 books. So I'm continuing on to my long time goal, which is to read 2,000 books throughout my life, so far I have read a little over half of my goal.
Any book recommendation would be lovely. :D
Seda wrote: "Hi everyone. My name is Seda. I'm from Istanbul. Mostly like to read classics but have a thing for Sci-Fi nowadays. Sadly, I discovered Philip K. Dick so late. 2016 will be the Sci-Fi year for me. :-)"Maybe we will read some of the same books then, I am very in mood for it now a days :)
Hi. I'm Courtney from the United States (Texas). I love Cozy Mysteries (Laura Childs Tea Shop Mysteries, Jennie Bentley, Nevada Barr, and others), but am trying to both read outside my comfort zone and through my bookshelves as well. I enjoy "real" books (no ebooks) and audiobooks, and count them both toward my goals.
Blagica wrote: "hi Courtney good morning and welcome! I loved physical books until i got a kindle now i am hooked!"I've used a kindle, and my iPad, neither were great, I just love the way a book feels and smells. They are nice for big volumes though because the weight of a physical book can be tremendous in that case.
Hi, I'm Tori and this is my first attempt to be part of a group while doing reading challenges (although I've done them alone). I'm preparing to graduate college in the spring & hoping to become a teacher at the elementary or middle school level. Most of the reading I do is YA fiction with the occasional non-fiction. I am always looking for new books to add to my incredibly long TBR list & recommendations are always welcome! Since I'll be transitioning to the "real world" this year, I'm being realistic and making my 2016 goal 25 books (but am hoping to increase the goal as the year progresses).

I just got into the habit of reading and I'm planning to read at least 2 books per month starting from 2016 .
I love all books aside from science fiction and horror ,and especially like novels that gives insights into the human psyque with a great story .
you may have to give me some recomindations at some point in 2016! which is only 2 weeks away my goodness where has the time gone.
Hi everybody! My name is Florien and I'm from the Netherlands.
I'm a teacher, teaching English as a second language in high school :)
I read all types of genres but tend to read more YA so I'm in touch with what my students read.
I joined this group because I need some motivation and ideas for the upcoming reading challenge of 2016! For the 2015 challenge I read 12 books (still currently reading the last one) and I really want to read more!
So what will my goal be for next year? I don't know yet, but for joining this group I'm looking forward to meet new people and read new books :)
Thanks for reading!
Welcome everyone. With the big Holiday coming up, I'm sure a lot of us are looking forward to the weekend. I don't even celebrate Christmas, and I know I am!!!Gail, from PA. I'm in Central PA (Cumberland County, near Harrisburg). My parents are from north of Pittsburgh, up 65, in Beaver County, and I have family in the east in Chester County. I know all about the differences in PA. I had a college professor who would go on and on about how strange the state population is.

Hi Everyone! My name is Katie and I live in South Wales, UK. My favourite genres are Fantasy and Sci-Fi, either as YA or not. I've exceeded my goal in 2015, no idea how as I had a mid-year slump but I'm now back on track so next year I'm going to aim for 50.
Merry Christmas!
Hello Everyone!!My name is Misha, and I currently reside in The US (in Florida).
I have loved reading for as long as I can remember. My chosen choice of genre definitely used to be Urban Fantasy. Lately I have been a lot of suspense/horror novels. Gillian Flynn got me addicted! Lol
This year I plan to branch out and read things I don't normally read. Sci-fi, Romance, and Historical.
I've been on Goodreads since 2011 and finally discovered they had groups!!!
I can't wait to start reading!
Happy Holidays ❤
hi Florien, Misha, Kevin, Katie, and Isabela welcome!hopefully I got everyone I see a number of you like YA books I cant wait to read and get to know you all!
Hi Everyone, My name is Michelle Nicole and I am an avid reader. I'm currently working on a Ph.D. and so I end up doing a lot of "academic" reading--which can be fun--but I also like to read for fun. I'm relatively new to GoodReads but want to delve into this group. I think having challenges, plans, etc., will help remind me to read for fun.
I also have been known to read anything and everything.
Happy reading everyone, see you around!
Welcome to the group, everyone! We have a lot of ways you can participate, so dive into whatever seems interesting, and reach out if you have any questions. :)
Hey everyone, my name is Margaret. :) I'm from Muskoka, Ontario and I'm 25 years old. I love reading all types of books, but have a special spot for Young Adult novels and Paranormals. I have a goal of 100 books for 2016, and I joined this group because I love having challenges to work towards and focus my reading selections.
Hi! My name is Madi. I am from the United States. I've been a part of this website for about a year now and have just started joining groups. I found this group randomly while browsing.
This past year my reading goal was 35 but I beat it by 10 books. So this year I'm going to make my reading challenge 43.
I enjoy most types of books. I have a hard time with romance, but I will read it. I'm not very picky. I just like having a book. Lately I have been very interested in memoirs and graphic novels though. But I'll take any recommendations whatsoever!
I'm very excited to be a part of this group!
Madi
Hello! My name is Sharon. I'm from California, USA.
I like to read classics and non-fiction, but I'm also trying to explore philosophy and history books.
My reading goal is to read at least one book per month. I work full time, so it can be hard sometimes to keep up with the reading. I need a group like this to keep me on track.
Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to another Sharon! This group will keep you motivated and a lot of times give you more books you want to read than you can read!
Hello! My name is Susan and I am from Maryland, USA. I love to read all kinds of books. I guess I get that honestly from my grandmother who loves to read. I joined Goodreads to help suggest new books to read when ever I can not find that book I am in the mood for. I do not get to read as much as I would like to due to a busy life with kids, school and work. I want to try and read about 25 books in 2016.
Greetings and Salutations from Calgary, Alberta, Canada!I'm a fan of historical fiction, biographies, crime novels, mythology, and... well... anything well written. I am obsessive in everything I do, including reading, so when I find a book I like, I devour it.
I've seen many people challenging themselves with year volume goals or other more specific challenges but they're generally half way through when I hear about them. So before the clock turns over to 2016, I wanted to get in on the fun :)
Since I'm building a new business, life is crazy, and I've never set this type of goal before, I think 3 books a month is a good place to start.
Therefore, my goal is 36 books.
hi Everyone I missed by working! i hope you have a splendid holiday season! cant wait to see what everyone is reading in 2016!
Hi!! I'm Ohnna, a reader from Belgium. I have only just joined GR (I can't believe this website went unnoticed for so long!) so I'm still discovering the ins and outs.
I have been an avid reader for a long time, ever since I was a kid. I mostly read fiction: historical romance, cozy mysteries and historical fiction are my favorite genres. But I also read other stuff, basically I'm prepared to give anything a try.
I found this group browsing through the book clubs here on GR, and I think it would be a good idea to set a reading challenge for 2016. I've never really kept track of how many books I read per year, but I think I should be able to read approx. 100 books next year (about 2 books a week sounds good).
Hi, I'm Cory. I live in Texas, U.S. I am a wife, a mom of two young boys, and a nurse. Sometimes it seems like reading is the only thing I do for myself.I like contemporary fiction, thrillers, cultural stories, historical fiction, magical realism, and some non fiction every once in awhile.
My goal is usually 2 books per month, but for 2016, I'm going to try to read 30 total. I used to be a part of a book club, but haven't been able to find one where I live now, so I'm glad to have found this online group.
Cory
Hello! This looks like a great forum. I am originally from Oklahoma but currently living in Denver. I like to primarily read history (have a BA from University of OK), mystery, biography and classic novels. I tried the reading challenge for 2015 and did poorly. I am excited to try it again. My goal is 30 books for 2016.
