I am an avid reader and author of Four Bullets And A Notebook. Reading has been one of my passions ever since I was a kid. Reading inspired me towards writing a work of my own imagination and having done that, my journey is not yet complete. I am still discovering and reading lots of genres and books and hopefully, this group will help me do more of that.

Its Saturday, and YES I am home reading...?!?! At 10:30 pm?!?!
Yes..
I just finished a good book, rare for me, and for some reason it has convinced me to continue on with this minor hobby of mine and maybe turn it into a full blown obsession.
So, I now find myself on the internet searching for other good novels/authors and subsequently here introducing myself to a discussion group like a junkie at an AA meeting.
I do not know what I like to read because I have yet to encounter enough of it.
The last book I remember enjoying was in High School, and as I recall I was chastised quite often for even mentioning it among more scholarly and qualified intellects. This being the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. (((braces)))
However, if you do have any advice or interesting leads to good fiction, only fiction and no real stuff, please introduce them to me through the group for it is my goal to live the rest of my days buried between the pages.
Sincerely.

Right now I am reading/listening to audiobook of Return of Moriarty by Gardner. It is an excellent Sherlock Holmes novel. I started following along with the audiobook. 4 hrs. out of 16 hrs. Really enjoying it.

I'm Maureen and I'm from Northern New York. I found this group by searching on "challenge." I did the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge successfully last year, but this year I've given myself a pass on a few of the categories that I just couldn't care about...and I feel a little guilty. I try to fulfill all the categories I can with my own books as a way of making a dent in them. Next year I was thinking that maybe I would create for myself a personalized challenge where I use a random number generator to pick a book I already own to read. I have more than 500 between piles and two kindles so....gosh that sounds geeky, LOL. On the side I also run a monthly book club and get usually one of more ARC's a month to review, so I stay busy! See you in 2017!

Hi Maureen and welcome!
That sounds like a really interesting challenge -- you'll have to tell us more when you have everything finalised.
Awesome! Busy busy!
Happy reading.

Actually I was messing around with my shelves after posting this and I can get the same result just by picking random sort on my to-read list, so it is even easier!

That's awesome!

It's one of my goals next year to try to read some books that have been on my to-read list for a really long time.

Exactly what I need!!

I'm Alva, I'm 15 years old and from Sweden.
I've always liked reading but I didn't start loving it until last year.
Most of the books I read are YA books. I really like creepy books, dystopia, fantasy and sometimes contemporary. Some of my favorite books are shatter me, the 5th wave and bad girls don't die (which is really underrated). My reading goal for this year is 50 books and I really hope that I will reach that goal because I don't have that many books left to read.
I would love it if you would like to send my a friend request or a book recomendation!

Welcome Alva!

I've been looking into challenges for 2017 and this seemed like the perfect group! I'm looking forward to participating in new things. I found the group by googling 'reading challenges'. It was one of the first things that popped up!
Romance, thrillers, and erotica are my top genres. Looking forward to meeting new people!

Welcome Abby! As we always say, there is always next year!

My goal is to read at least 15 book in 1 Year - by looking for some ideas about Reading Challenge on GoodReads I ended up here ;)
Thank you all!

I'm Pooja from Bangalore, India.
I havn't been able to read for a while now [Used to read anything and everything before] In 2017, I'm trying to get back to my prior self :)
I'm setting myself a goal of 5 books a month. So that is 60 books in 2017 :)

This is exciting, the first Goodreads group I've ever joined! My name is Heta and I'm an 18-year-old girl from Northern Finland. I used to read all the time as a kid but stuff happened and it was not until this year that I got back to reading and I love it so much. My goal for this year was 30, just beat it last night and for 2017 I will be going for 50 books. Best of luck everyone! :)

I just joined this group and am excited to join in on some 2017 Challenges. I mainly read mystery/suspense and current literature. I blog at CMash Reads. I also own 2 tour companies, Partners In Crime Tours (www.partnersincrimetours.net) for mystery/suspense titles and Providence Book Promotions(www.providencebookpromotions.com). If anyone that has a blog and would like to join our team, please check out the sites and sign up.

Happy reading!

welcome to the group! Finding yourself is always fun I always tend to feel like I find a different part of my personality in picking up different books. I hope 2017 treats you well and you find at least one or two books you love!

I love genre fiction like science fiction, fantasy with a touch of romance
I stumbled upon that group by browsing the group section on goodreads. The challenges look like fun and are doable.
To read more like 100 books on average a year. There most be more than 1 non fiction in total. Connect and make book/nerd friends.

Hi Peter, I think you will enjoy in "Sophie's world" that is an interesting and useful novel :)

Thank you :D

- I'm Sarah. I a originally from Ohio, but have been living in Maryland for the last two years.
- I like to read pretty much anything! I've been reading the Outlander series have fallen in love with the story - so much so that I am planning on visiting Scotland. I tend to gravitate towards light-hearted reading with mostly happy endings.
-I use Goodreads to keep myself organized on what I have read and want to read. I love connecting to other "bookworms/nerds!" ;-)
- I read 20 in 2016. With my hectic and sometimes unpredictable schedule, reading can be hard. I managed to surpass my goal and read 26, with some time to squeeze in hopefully one more!
I set a goal of 30 books for 2017

I love literary fiction. I also love the trend towards literary genre fiction because I love beautiful, well written stories of every kind. So, I'll read good historical fiction, fantasy (love Neil Gaiman), thrillers (I'm currently reading I Am Pilgrim) and YA fiction. Goodreads is such a wonderful resource to find new, interesting reads.
I'm American, but have spent much of the past 26 years living overseas due to my husband's career. We're now back in the States for the foreseeable future or at least until our kids both graduate from high school.
I look forward to getting to know you all in 2017!

I'm new here!!!! I'm glad to be accepted here.
My name is Ana Celia and I'm from Brazil.
I always loved to read, I start to read more and more and more because now I'm a foreign language (English) teacher in High school here.
My favorites genres are YA (those I can talk with my students) NA and Romances.
I discovered this group through a mutual friend.
When I found Goodreads was amazing because now I can keep myself organized on what I have read and want to read.

Thanks!!!!

I found this group on a search for groups to join. I liked some of the discussions and challenges and decided to join.
My reading goal for 2017 is to read an average of 4-5 books per month. I am a tour guide so during summer season there is not a lot of time for me to work with.
