Avinash Rao | 1 comments Hello!

I am an avid reader and author of Four Bullets And A Notebook. Reading has been one of my passions ever since I was a kid. Reading inspired me towards writing a work of my own imagination and having done that, my journey is not yet complete. I am still discovering and reading lots of genres and books and hopefully, this group will help me do more of that.

message 1203: by Peter (new)

Peter | 2 comments Hi,

Its Saturday, and YES I am home reading...?!?! At 10:30 pm?!?!

Yes..

I just finished a good book, rare for me, and for some reason it has convinced me to continue on with this minor hobby of mine and maybe turn it into a full blown obsession.

So, I now find myself on the internet searching for other good novels/authors and subsequently here introducing myself to a discussion group like a junkie at an AA meeting.

I do not know what I like to read because I have yet to encounter enough of it.

The last book I remember enjoying was in High School, and as I recall I was chastised quite often for even mentioning it among more scholarly and qualified intellects. This being the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. (((braces)))

However, if you do have any advice or interesting leads to good fiction, only fiction and no real stuff, please introduce them to me through the group for it is my goal to live the rest of my days buried between the pages.

Sincerely.

Right now I am reading/listening to audiobook of Return of Moriarty by Gardner. It is an excellent Sherlock Holmes novel. I started following along with the audiobook. 4 hrs. out of 16 hrs. Really enjoying it.

message 1205: by Erin (new)

Erin (ezridar03) Hi. My name is Erin and I am from Racine, WI. I enjoy reading many different types of books. Some of the genres I tend to gravitate to are fantasy, romance, young adult and general fiction but read based on what sounds good to me at the time. I am currently reading The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood.

message 1206: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad | 362 comments My name is Deb and I'm from the United States. I love reading horror, true crime and young adult like the vampires, werewolf type books. I really don't like reading to much romance as I find them boring. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Robin Cook, V. C. Andrews and Sue Grafton. When I am not reading I love to do crafts such as quilting, cooking, baking and watching some TV

Rebecca | 131 comments Hello my name is Rebecca. I am from the United States. I have become an avid reader over time. I enjoy reading almost all genre of books. I really enjoy mysteries, science fiction. I have read and always wanted to expand my knowledge of the classical literature. At one time I was going through the 1001 books of the 20th century. I set my go2al of reading 150 books a year for the last 2 or 3 years. This year though has been rather hard to find time to read with other obligations. There is always 2017.

message 1212: by Maureen (new)

Maureen (maureencean) | 57 comments Hi All!
I'm Maureen and I'm from Northern New York. I found this group by searching on "challenge." I did the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge successfully last year, but this year I've given myself a pass on a few of the categories that I just couldn't care about...and I feel a little guilty. I try to fulfill all the categories I can with my own books as a way of making a dent in them. Next year I was thinking that maybe I would create for myself a personalized challenge where I use a random number generator to pick a book I already own to read. I have more than 500 between piles and two kindles so....gosh that sounds geeky, LOL. On the side I also run a monthly book club and get usually one of more ARC's a month to review, so I stay busy! See you in 2017!

Hi Maureen and welcome!

That sounds like a really interesting challenge -- you'll have to tell us more when you have everything finalised.

Awesome! Busy busy!

Happy reading.

Actually I was messing around with my shelves after posting this and I can get the same result just by picking random sort on my to-read list, so it is even easier!

Cassandra | 5832 comments It's fun! We had a TBR Randomizer challenge this year for exactly that.

It's one of my goals next year to try to read some books that have been on my to-read list for a really long time.

message 1218: by Alva (new)

Alva (alvakvick) Hi all!
I'm Alva, I'm 15 years old and from Sweden.
I've always liked reading but I didn't start loving it until last year.
Most of the books I read are YA books. I really like creepy books, dystopia, fantasy and sometimes contemporary. Some of my favorite books are shatter me, the 5th wave and bad girls don't die (which is really underrated). My reading goal for this year is 50 books and I really hope that I will reach that goal because I don't have that many books left to read.
I would love it if you would like to send my a friend request or a book recomendation!

Zoey Zane (zoeyzane) Hi everyone! I'm Kendra. I'm currently living in Las Vegas. I have been all over the left half of the United States. :-) I love traveling!

I've been looking into challenges for 2017 and this seemed like the perfect group! I'm looking forward to participating in new things. I found the group by googling 'reading challenges'. It was one of the first things that popped up!

Romance, thrillers, and erotica are my top genres. Looking forward to meeting new people!

message 1225: by Blagica , Challenges (new)

Blagica | 12941 comments Hey Kendra welcome to the Group! Vegas is on my list of places to see. I was born in Macedonia but live in NJ now and take one family vacation a year to a place or state we haven't been to. You picked the right group if you are looking for different challenges and to make friends we have a great bunch of people here. Your genres are some of my favorites as well feel free to send recommendations my way and happy reading.

message 1226: by Abby (new)

Abby Greenleaf (mythicalmermaid101) | 59 comments Hello, I'm Abby, and I'm a fourteen year old from the United States. My favorite series are currently The Lunar Chronicles and His Dark Materials (although I still have not finished it), although it changes constantly. I mostly read YA, although I do sometimes read books that are middle school level. I enjoy reading fantasy and science fiction especially, but I will read other genres if the books sound interesting to me. I found your group when I was looking through the groups tagged "bookclub". My 2016 goal is 70 books, although I am really far behind, since I have not read that much this year at all (sadly). I am hoping to read a lot more next year.

message 1227: by Nick (new)

Nick Green (nickppgreen2014) Hey Kendra! My parents visited Vegas a couple of years ago, said it was absolutely amazing.

Welcome Abby! As we always say, there is always next year!

Sarah Twiggs (twiggssl) | 92 comments Hi everyone!

- I'm Sarah. I a originally from Ohio, but have been living in Maryland for the last two years.

- I like to read pretty much anything! I've been reading the Outlander series have fallen in love with the story - so much so that I am planning on visiting Scotland. I tend to gravitate towards light-hearted reading with mostly happy endings.

-I use Goodreads to keep myself organized on what I have read and want to read. I love connecting to other "bookworms/nerds!" ;-)

- I read 20 in 2016. With my hectic and sometimes unpredictable schedule, reading can be hard. I managed to surpass my goal and read 26, with some time to squeeze in hopefully one more!

I set a goal of 30 books for 2017

Ilona | 4698 comments Hi Sarah, welcome to the group and good luck with your reading goal for 2017!

message 1246: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Glaab | 3 comments I'm Becky and am happy to have found this group. I'm setting my challenge of 52 books for 2017. Reading makes me very happy and I'd paid way too much attention to the news lately, so I'm returning to my happy place.

I love literary fiction. I also love the trend towards literary genre fiction because I love beautiful, well written stories of every kind. So, I'll read good historical fiction, fantasy (love Neil Gaiman), thrillers (I'm currently reading I Am Pilgrim) and YA fiction. Goodreads is such a wonderful resource to find new, interesting reads.

I'm American, but have spent much of the past 26 years living overseas due to my husband's career. We're now back in the States for the foreseeable future or at least until our kids both graduate from high school.

I look forward to getting to know you all in 2017!

Alexandra Hi! I'm Alexandra and I live in Bucharest, Romania. I enjoy reading all kinds of books with historical novels, fantasy and contemporary being my first choices. I kept my distance from horror books so far simply because I'm a bit of a scaredy cat. It is a 2017 challenge to read my first horror novel.

I found this group on a search for groups to join. I liked some of the discussions and challenges and decided to join.

My reading goal for 2017 is to read an average of 4-5 books per month. I am a tour guide so during summer season there is not a lot of time for me to work with.
