Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2016!

Welcome, Shaheer!
That seems like a good range of book genres to choose from.
Happy reading!

Anyway.... Hi! My name is Gemma and I'm 33 living in West Yorkshire, UK. I love reading and will read pretty much anything as long as it is fiction, although I'm not overly fond of sci-fi/fantasy. I've been a member of Goodreads for a while now but I'm only now trying to join in and from the look of a lot of the challenges etc I'm joining the party a bit late for 2016 so I will have to keep an eye out for 2017, although if there are any to jump on board with now let me know?
Anway apologies if I'm repeating myself and if not I look forward to getting involved.
:)

Welcome Gemma! You can jump into any of the challenges anytime. For the yearly ones, just set a target you think you could do in the last four months. Otherwise there are monthly challenges, so you could start straight away with a September ones. Or there are quarterly challenges - a couple of new ones will start for Oct-Dec :)
I've only been in this group since the start of the year, but one of my favourite things is how relaxed it is. There's no minimum requirement for challenges or number of pages etc. and you can join in whenever you want!

Gemma, as Janine says there's no bad time to jump in. There's monthly challenges and quarterly. Or if you just want a book goal that's perfect too :)

I decided at the beginning of August that I haven't been reading enough books recently, and set a goal to read 52 books by the end of the year. So far I'm 20 books in, so if all goes well, I should be able to hit that goal.

Welcome, Katie! I also joined this group because I had not been reading much and I set a very similar goal last year and exceeded it! I think you will find this to be a wonderful group where you can relax and enjoy books!

I enjoy reading as much as watching football. I am not too picky of a reader, but my fav's are fantasy, thrillers and mysteries. I have been challenging myself to read more of other things though. Hopefully the challenges in this group will help with that goal.
I found out about this group from a member in another group i'm in. I have looked at some of the challenges you have and plan on working on some of them before the year is up. Just have to figure out which ones I want to work on.

I enjoy reading as much..."
Welcome, Jen! Jump in wherever and whenever! I think you will find this to be a great group of readers!

I'm Hiep (I know it's difficult to pronounce my name; so you could call me "Jet" - my English name), I come from Vietnam.
I'd like to read science, nonfiction, travel, fiction.
I hope that I will reach the reading goal in this year with 15 books. Especially, some books that I have to read in this year are The little prince (Antoine de Saint - Exupery), the road (Cormac Mccarthy), Moby Dick (Herman Melville), To kill a mockingbird (Harper Lee) and Jerome becomes a Genius (Eran Katz).
And I'd like to make friends with others who love reading. Honestly, I wish to receive your recommendations about great books.
Thank you!

What's about you?

I have recently read two great books that i can recommend. Please get good recommendations my way and i am sure to read them and respond back to you with my commentary :).
Coinman: An Untold Conspiracy - Excellent Humor/Satire book with hints at philosophical aspects of life
The Kite Runner - Great fiction on Afganistan's political turmoil!
i am looking forward to many book friendships here. Very excited!
Susan

I own a hair salon, and on my spare time I am reading as many books as I can. I like all type of books, I just love reading. I've been trying to read about a book a week.
Looking forward to making new friends.

My name is Zariena (zah-ree-nah).
I've always been a sporadic reader but since my husband is away due to his military obligations; I've fallen in love with reading books.
I enjoy reading sci-fi romance novels (my favorite is J.R. Ward) and thriller/horror books. I'm currently reading In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware.
I'm so thrilled to have started the challenge! My goal is to read 20 by the end of the year. I'm 4 books in at the moment.

I've been a reader as long as I remember but i've been in a reading slump for the past 3 years of my life basically and I'm trying to get back into loving reading and being passionate about a story once more.
I don't have a genre preference but I am picky about writing styles. I cannot stand when authors have long, detailed, irrelevant narratives in their novels. Basically, I just like anything fast-paced and something that can keep my attention.
I'm planning to aim low since we only have 3 months left of the 2016 year and I've only read 7 books so far, so I hope to read at least 13 books total this year. I'm lowballing myself because I am also an english major so I don't want to aim high and not be able to reach my goals because I'm too busy reading for school and studying.

I'm Leigh and even though I signed up in GR in 2013, I felt like I'm a newcomer haha. I usually log in and input the things that I read and I never really surfed what's in here. And whoa I missed out a lot of activities in GR (for 3 years? arrgh).
I'm somehow eclectic in my tastes when it comes to music and books.
I'm curious about eroticism (not the smut) thus my journey towards that simple yet powerful piece of erotic literature continues. In romance department, I am looking for those books that I read in High school days just to see if what I felt then (while reading) would be the same (but i know it will never be the same feeling again he he).
I like mysteries, thrillers, not much about horror though. I admire auto/biographies too. I like manga hehe, I like war books, and I indulge in children books sometimes.
Nowadays, I like reading Chinese novels (translation) but I don't think that I've seen some of the C-books here in goodreads, the reason why I can't mark them as "read" :-( I'm planning to read as many Filipino books that I can and I hope that they are listed here too.
Nice meeting you guys! And happy reading everyone. Mwah..!

I am sure you will find lots in this group that interests you! Please let us know if you have any questions!

I love reading and my favourite genres are teen fiction, spy/action, romance and anything recommended.
I look forward to the group reads, making new friends and perhaps doing buddy reads if anyone is interested :)

I love reading books set in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
I don't remember how I found the group, but I really like all the challenges - and I want to try and participate in some of the yearly ones. I am joining quite late, and so my reading goal for the year was only 12 books. I am so amazed with the amount of books people read per year. I hope this group can help me read even more!

As for my number of book challenge for this year, it's 120 books of mixed genres and I'm almost reached my goal^^, only need few more books and I'm done. (But i think I already pass my goals if the chinese online novels are included in.)

Hi, my name is Zita Harrison. I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area. I like to read a variety of books. Not so much horror these days. I like to read about complicated characters, being one myself! I also like to read world literature.
I found your group by exploring the groups on Goodreads. It sounds like a fun group. My reading goal is at least one every month. Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome everyone! I look forward to getting to know you! Please let us know if you have any questions :)
Karoline, I'm Norwegian too. :) Velkommen ;)

I'm shooting to read 15 books before the end of the year.
Looking forward to get to meet people and getting more involved in this site.

I'm Martha from London. I have quite a mixed taste in books, the only thing I'm not really into is horror or chick lit, otherwise I'm up for trying it!
My original goal for the year was 35 but I started a job where I'm commuting on the train every day, so I hit that pretty quickly and now have put it up to 100.
I found your group as I love reading challenges, so looking forward to getting stuck into a few of those :)

I'm not a very picky reader and I'll pretty much read anything, but I do tend towards YA, fantasy books and chick-lit. My reading goal for the year is 20 books as I am not a particularly fast reader (plus up until June I was finishing my final year of university so I knew I wouldn't have much spare time for reading). So far I've managed 17/20 as I've picked up the pace a lot since September so looks like I should definitely hit my goal :)
I found your group via a friend on here who was already part of the group. I have been on goodreads since 2014 but didn't actually realise there were groups on here!

Looking forward to sharing and reading more!

Hey Kara, I am Sujata and I am from Mumbai, India. I am one of those for whom reading is as essential as breathing. I read at least 3 to 4 books a week. My preferred reading is classics though I am fond of crime/thrillers as well as science fiction.

I'm new to goodreads, but as an English Literature major, I'm certainly not new to reading. Although I graduated roughly 5 years ago, I'm just now starting to read regularly again. I gu..."
hi Stephanie, I have resonantly discovered YA books your son may like Hatchet series. Just finished them in the last couple of months and thought they were really good. Hope to be reading Frankenstein in the next couple of months as I have set myself the challenge to read 26 classics over the next year.
