Kayla Wikaryasz (kayla_wiki) | 7 comments Hey guys, I'm Kayla...Completely and utterly a boring 18 year old American girl. I like horror, and Victorian Romances way too much, but tend to spend my hours with my guitar, a good book, or some paints. My goal this summer is to read as much as possible before my freshmen year in college, while also exploring my own mind and finding a new, wholistic way to living.

Welcome, and what makes you boring? I ask because one summer I met someone from New Zealand (such a cool place I'd love to visit) who told me that each of her siblings had been born in other countries, but she'd been born in boring, old New Zealand. The US is cool and exotic to many.

Mariel C'a. | 3 comments Hello everyone!
I joined Goodreads today and I'm liking a lot.
I have a basic level of English so a translator is my best ally at this time. I'm from Mexico, a town called Tampico is on the Gulf Coast.
I'm lately obsessed with dystopias. But I would like to read more classics and psychological thriller books.
I love happy endings!!!!
I have an internal conflict when there is no happiness at the end for the main character.

I'm writing too much :s
This weekend start reading "The Elite" by Kiera Cass.
The next week I expect a visit postman with "All the boys I've loved before." by Jenny Han.

Greetings to all!

message 1064: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (modernsamwitch) Hi all!
My name is Samantha, I am a children's librarian from Long Island, New York.
I am trying harder to be more inclusive when it comes to my taste in books, but I really do enjoy bestselling novels, and biographies the most.
I am currently reading The Island by Elin HIlderbrand, and recently finished Big Little Lies, What Alice Forgot and the Help. I have both Neil Patrick Harris and Michael Strahan's books on my to read shelf, along with a long list of others.
The last I checked, I think I was aiming to read 26 books for 2016, although my main goal is to just read, as often as possible, and possibly keep track of the books I have completed.

I look forward to participating in a regularly active group (all the other groups I have joined so far seem to not be as active as I was initially hoping) !

message 1065: by Mariel (new)

Mariel C'a. | 3 comments Hi Sameeksha :) i liked very much too The Girl on train! And Hi Samantha :) how is it The Island? I'm currently reading The Elite, you probably already read because it isn 't recent but i'm enjoying it a lot.
Sorry for my english, enjoy your reading! :) Regards!!

Kadisha (paperbackpassionista) (paperbackpassionista) Greetings Everyone. I am Kadisha Rollins and I'm new here!!! I am a fourth year Business Administration student and I'm overjoyed that I will be graduating on April 29, 2017.

I have a passion for and a deep connection to romance and erotica novels. I guess you can say I'm a sucker for a good love story. Currently I am reading Manwhore and I have a feeling that its going to become one of my favorites.

I like meeting new people and making new friends. So I am excited to get to know each and everyone of you.

Happy Reading (:

message 1070: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizziebelle82) Hi everyone! My name is Liz (or Lizzie) and I live in SW Florida. I'm single, stay with my parents, have a chihuahua and 2 tabby cats. :)

I'm currently doing a 2016 Book Challenge and, while I've fallen behind on it (BAD LIZ!), it's also gotten me away from my regular authors such as Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber, Jodi Picoult, Kristin Hannah, Susan Wiggs, Elin Hilderbrand, etc. I have read books and have LIKED and LOVED books that I normally would never have read before. I'm learning that stepping outside of your comfort zone when it comes to reading can be a really cool thing.

I *won't* delve into hardcore romance/erotica or horror type books, though. I have to draw the line somewhere lol.

Sarelle here! I'm from Lebanon (I wouldn't be surprised if you haven't heard of it) and I'm 16.
I like to read young-adult books mostly, but romance novels do no harm.
I found this group while browsing Goodreads groups and wanted to join you people!
Unfortunately, I decided to go with 10 as a reading goal this year, and I'm halfway through!

message 1085: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Hi everyone,

I'm Hannah. I'm and English Literature and History student from NZ.

I have had a passion for reading and books from since I can remember. I think this developed from when my mother used to read to me before bed.

I'm really up for reading anything, but I do like a good classic, adventure, culture or crime novel.

I spend a lot of time reading as an English literature student, so a lot of the books I review are classics or are NZ based authors.

Please add me as a friend and follow me on Twitter @ABookwormsLife

:)

message 1087: by Madilynn (new)

Madilynn Dale (madidreads) Hi everyone my name is Madison. This is my first group that I am joining here on Goodreads. I am from Oklahoma and I absolutely love to read. I like to read a variety of books. It kinda depends on how I am feeling at the time. I have a reading goal of 100 books set for myself for this year. I just recently graduated with another college degree and will be sitting for a license exam as a Physical Therapy Assistant next week. I am looking forward to more free time to enjoy life and devour a ton of books after I finish.

message 1088: by Furrawn (new)

Furrawn Welcome, everyone!
Happy reading!

message 1089: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (kelliemeadows) Hi everyone! My name is Kellie. I am a youth and children's librarian from Georgia. I read a little bit of everything. I usually wind up reading more YA than anything because my job requires me to be kept up-to-date-oh darn ;). I also really enjoy fantasy, science fiction, thriller/mystery, and historical fiction. I am obsessed with Arthurian literature and anything to do with Scotland! I joined this group as a way to narrow down my TBR pile (okay, shelf. Well, shelves!) I have too many books and I need a direction to steer it in! I also love to talk books and I don't get enough time to talk about the more adult books at work!

message 1090: by Simon (new)

Simon (simontaneously) | 173 comments Kia Ora, I'm Simon and I'm from Aotearoa, New Zealand, or Middle Earth - whatever you want to call it.

In the past few years, I haven't been reading much. I blame high school for that. But now, as a budding BA student of English and history, I want to get back into reading as much as possible. I'll give almost anything a go but am mainly interesting in historical fiction (especially ones involving time travel), crime thrillers, and classical literature.

I think I found this group by browsing the "Community" tab to be honest. I also know someone else who is a part of this group too, though.

My reading goal is simply to get back into something I love - which is books. I set a minimum of 10 books to read this year but it looks like I'll probably surpass that. I've decided I'll read at least one book a month, though.

So that's me. I'm open to chatting and making new friends. Happy reading.

message 1091: by Nick (new)

Nick Green (nickppgreen2014) Hi guys, I was here but I left (had to take a break), but now I'm back again!

Where are you from?
I live in London, England.

What kinds of books do you like to read?
Anything really: from fiction to non-fiction, ranging in a wide variety.

How did you find our group?
As I said, I was here before so that's how I found this group.

What's your reading goal?
Last year, I managed to just read over 80 books - I think it was 82 or 83 - so this year I've set myself a goal of 100 books and I'm almost at 80 books.

message 1092: by Kadijah Michelle (new)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Welcome everyone! It's so interesting to see where you all are from. Sarelle, my husband is from Palestine, a neighbor to Lebanon. Eline, I lived in the Netherlands for three years, and Hannah, New Zealand is on my bucket list to see before I die!
I'm here in Pennsylvania now looking forward to my next adventure which is looking like a trip to the Middle East right now.
Eid Mubarak to our new Muslim members, and happy 4th to our American members.
I hope you all enjoy our group.

message 1093: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Hi!

I'm from California and I love all kinds of books: fantasy, classic, sci-fi, biographies, fiction, non-fiction, history, etc.

Excited to have a group to share this with! I've been a bit lazy with reading lately so I needed a little motivation to watch less Netflix (as it's rotting my brain and imagination) and I'm hoping joining this group will help :)

message 1094: by Surupa (new)

Surupa Mukhopadhyay (surupam17) | 39 comments Hi! I'm Surupa and have set my target for 20 books this year, and have finished 8 so far. My real goal for this year was to read different genre books, as I'm a girl who sticks to mystery and crime thrillers a lot more than anything else. So far I've read romantic, non fiction, crime, and funny drama, and I am hoping to widen range. Any suggestions for any kind of books, except maybe non fiction of political sort, as I still haven't found the edge in me to read that sort of a book, are welcome!

Looking forward to completing the challenge!

message 1095: by Kaleen (new)

Kaleen H (bubbles_huntress) | 6 comments Hi, I'm Kaleen and I'm from Arizona.

I like dystopian, action, drama, horror, and fictional books in general.

I found this group while looking for an amazing reading group and I found one!

My reading goal for 2016 is at least 60 books and I am currently at 33.

message 1097: by Ilona (new)

Ilona Berg | 7 comments Hey There :)
I'm Ilona and I'm from South Africa! I am SO happy I found this group!!

I mostly read Young Adult & Contemporary. I do also enjoy Fantasy a lot!

My reading goals for 2016 is to read 100 books.
As of today I have read 56 books this year! (Yay me!)

message 1098: by Rebecca (last edited Jul 10, 2016 11:44AM) (new)

Rebecca Tompkins Hi Guys! I'm new to the group here. I am 21 years old and from Connecticut. I joined because I don't really have many friends on here and wanted some people to talk about books! I mostly just read novels. I love historical fiction, mysteries and memoirs. I love to see what other people are reading and I love new reccomendations :)

message 1099: by Leilani (new)

Leilani Hello all! I am from the Pacific NW. Growing up, I had a more eclectic taste in genre. Scary, funny, suspense, coming of age, etc. Nowadays, I'm more into mystery, suspense, thriller, scary and for some reason, I have become insanely picky about what I read. And sadly, I'm not one of those brave people that can trudge through a book that they end up deciding isn't their cup of tea.

Unfortunately, I have a small goal of 10 books for the rest of this year. I would like to exceed that goal though.

message 1100: by Kaiya (new)

Kaiya | 1 comments Hey there!

My name is Kaiya and I currently live just outside of Toronto Canada. I love reading any type of Genre but especially love Mystery, Horror and Thrillers.

I was just browsing around and came across this group! Seems perfect for me. I just moved out of the downtown area and have started a new commute into the city for work so I’ll have plenty of free time on my hands for reading. My goal is to read at least 2 books a month, if not more!

Please pass along any book recommendations, I’d love some suggestions!
