Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2016!

4000? That's awesome, good luck! :)

I'm Gemma from Scotland and I've just joined the group. I'm aiming to read at least 15 books this year, no particular genre.
I'm looking forward to seeing some recommendations and co..."
Hi Gemma! Always great to see a fellow Scot.
My recommendations, for anyone, will always be Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. If you want YA fiction I implore you to read The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare.

I've been a member of this group for a few weeks now, but this is the first chance I've had to get on here to look around. I'm 49, I live in SC and I'm raising 2 of my grandchildren. They are 6 and 11, so they really keep me busy.
I'm mostly into mystery/thrillers, but I have been known to read Christian fiction, to YA. I'm really all over the place. LOL I don't really care for historical romance, but if I have nothing else to read, I will read those.
My personal goal for this year is 150, and I'm on # 55 now.
Hopefully, my grandkids will let me check in more often. Thanks for having me.

I'm Chrystall. I'm from Pennsylvania. I like to read almost anything but my favorite authors are Anne Rice, Christopher Moore and Toni Morrison. I have used Goodreads for a while to track the books I read and want to read but wanted to get more involved with challenges and discussing books and found the group by looking around for a few minutes. My reading goal for this year is 30 books and I'm on track so far. I work full time and am a full time college student. I read real books when I can but right now audiobooks work best since I drive at least 2 hours each day.

I'm Hannah. I currently live in Buffalo, but I am from Cleveland. I love all types of books and I am willing to give anything a try at least once. :) This year my goal is to read 30 books. So far I've read 8 including: all 7 Harry Potter books (for the first time), a biography of Caesar, and The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell. Currently reading We Are Not Ourselves.
I'm looking forward to participating in this group!

My name is Roger, I'm from Wakefield, Quebec, Canada. I'm not really difficult as for genre, but I mostly like murders and mystery, thrillers... It may be a little weird, but I like it when somebody dies in it. I'm a big Horror geek (books as much as in movies also).
I found your group when I was looking at a member's GR page to find new books to add, and saw it.
My reading goal is to read at least 30 books this year and I would like to expand my knowledge in books, I want to try to read classics for starters also, but I don't wanna go to far from what I love.

Thanks, that's the thing I don't have any favorite authors. And no I didn't read those.

I joined this group a while back after coming across it while browsing. This is my first post in the group since of where I get my materials and what I fell like reading when I start reading a book.
I had set a goal of 50 books earlier this year, but fell behind in my reading. I just finished reading Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis which is my fourth book so I have a long way to go to get to 50.
Yesterday I came across and joined the Public Domain Readers group where instead of reading books from a specific list, we pick books from a specific genre or category for the month. That makes it easier to find something I like and should help me reach my goal.
I look forward to see what everybody is reading and get into discussions if I've read the book. I've been an avid reader ever since I was young and am now in my 50's, so there is a chance that I've read something that someone else in the group is reading.

I'm Mallika from Gurgaon, India. I enjoy reading pretty much everything but especially classics, historical fiction and non-fiction, some fantasy, children's literature, mysteries and also popular math and science books.
I found this group as I noticed I friend from another group here is a member.
My goal this year is to read at least eight books a month (I haven't been keeping up very well because of work) but more broadly to cut my TBR pile down by at least half. Counting e-books and actual books, I'm a little embarrassed to say I had over 200 on my pile at the beginning of the year,

I joined a couple days ago....
some of my favorite genres are YA, Fiction, Fantasy, and Dystopian.
My Personal Reading Challenge for 2016 is 50 books!
and I'm always looking for Recommendations.

I was one of those nose-in-a-book kids, but put off personal reading for several years while homeschooling my kids. Now that they are older, not only do they not need me so much, but we can enjoy and discuss the same books. So I decided to challenge myself to read 50 books this year, with the hope of doing more.
My reading is kind of all over the place; this year I'm reading some geology-related books along with one of my kids, a fair bit of high-school-appropriate lit either for the first time or as a re-read, and some mysteries for fun.
Looking forward to getting to know people here!

I'm Lea, I'm from Switzerland and my reading goal for this year is 25 books.
I can get excited with every genre at the moment I'm going through a YA phase.
I've decided to join this group to share my book love with others and find some more awesome books to read. I'm also very excited for a few challenges :)

I am a very classics-oriented reader, but I enjoy any type of fiction, especially fantasy and romance. I would love some book recommandations. Any genre is welcome, since I am joining this group partly to broaden my horizons!
I look forward to this challenge!

When I was in college my goals were the same. I only had the brain power to read one non school book a month, and I always made it a classic.

My name is Anna. I am originally from Poland, but I'm currently living in Scotland. I like to read all types of books as every genre has something great to offer! However, my favourite genres are crime, mystery and thriller. My personal reading challenge for this year is 20 books.

My favorite genre is historical fiction. I'm also a sucker for pre-history, Asian, ancient Egyptian, colonial Amerian & Early European stories. Guilty pleasure: vampires & werewolves!
I will read just about anything -- my rule is to give it 100 pages. If I am not loving it by that point, I just move on. This rarely happens, though.
I've been on GR for years, but this is the first year I've joined any groups or challenges. I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I sure am having fun!

Hi, Ash! I love to sing, too! Anytime, anywhere! You should try it in front of people. It's amazing when they sing, too. ;)

Anna: I'm trying to learn Polish ^^ I'm from Norway so it's a totally different way of thinking when you speak it. Not the easiest, but it's the most beautiful language I know.

This is the first time I joined a group challenge. :)

I'm Amber. I'm 25 and a next wife/mother of 2. Reading abs binge watching shows is a bit theraputic for me. I love YA fantasy though I'm trying to read more contemporary. I also dabble in other genres, it sort of just depends on my mood. I've thought about making a booktube but I don't think my camera is good enough so I might make a blog instead or just try and get a bit more use out of twitter and instagram.

I give every genre a chance, but I'm particularly drawn to & love Vampire Lit, Horror, YA, Contemporary, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy.
I love audiobooks just as much as physical copies.
My goal is 50 books!

I only read physical books, love hardbacks. I like all kinds of genres but I guess literary fiction is what I read most . I like intelligent books , books that make me think and smile. Favorite authors to name a few Colum McCann, Haruki Murakami, Susan Fletcher who wrote Witchlight/Corrag not the other one and love love love Charles Dickens.
I have joined the good reads yearly challenge and set a goal of 50 books I'm already at 43 so I think I'll up it to maybe 80 and see how that works out.
I don't work as I'm disabled with MS and reading is what keeps me sane, there's a trillion world's to visit in books :) :)
