Hi Julia! Yes, B&W is still there and the crumb cake and 7-layer cake are still the best in the world!! LOL

I think it's still there Im in NJ myself and have a big sweet tooth it's a good combination cupcakes and books lol

I am one of those slumbering group members who everyone despises, but I promise to be better.
I will be reading till my eyes fall off to make up for lost time, and figured having some company cannot ever hurt.
Happy Reading!

I just got done reading The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon and it's probably one of the best books I've read in a while.
If anyone has any recommendations, please feel free to share your thoughts with me!

Looking forward to chatting and reading with you all! Feel free to add me, especially if we have similar tastes :D

Sreemoyee - feel free to lurk or participate as much as feels comfortable to you. We're very relaxed here.

I'm another Newbie - both to this group and to Goodreads. :) I live in Switzerland and like to read all kinds of books really. I especially love a good thriller or mystery but also read historical fiction, and I'm a sucker for chick-lit.
I'm still a bit overwhelmed with the size of the group and can't promise to be very active in the forums here... (I'd rather spend my time reading than typing... lol) But I do like the idea of having a reading goal and a place to track my progress and maybe even find some friends with similar tastes. ;)
My reading goal isn't very high compared to others, but having two small children at home, reading 12 books this year will already be quite an accomplishment for me.
Looking forward to getting to know at least some of you!

I have loved reading my whole life but have lost touch since a few years and hope to revive my habit with the personal reading challenge
I enjoy any interesting book, not confined to any genre and would love to hear recommendations!!
So hoping to read a lot of interesting books and meeting a lot of interesting people this year!!

Fave genres are: Thriller, YA, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Fiction

I'm Nick, a 27-year-old male who has been reading books since his early teenage years.
Although my reading began with cop/detective books, my range of books has now expanded to really just about anything.
For this year's reading challenge, I have set myself a goal of 100 books and am currently at 35 books (which, I think, is a good mark).
I'm always on the lookout for a great book to read, and have many books sitting on my bedside table waiting to be read. (Such is the curse of a bookworm...)
I look forward to talking to all of you,
Nick.

Hi Nick, welcome. It is ok around here to abbreviate your to be read stack, in paper or E books as TBR You do not want to know the size of my TBRs. I'm 61 and the books piled up for many years. I stopped reading for a stretch. Then between getting a Nook and recouperating from an illness without a TV to watch in my bedroom, the reading bug came back full force.
Good morning, my name is Cherish (Ft. Meade, Florida) and I am a Bookaholic...
I am the wife of a wonderful man (18 yrs) and the mother of two, loves of my life kiddos (Son, 16/Daughter, 13)...they keep me busy with the various practices/games...but wouldn't change it for the world (even though I complain about it).
I go NO WHERE without a book!!!
I read mostly thriller/suspense, courtroom drama and mystery...James Patterson and Stuart Woods being two of my favorite authors. But I just love to read, so I stepped out of my norm and got hooked with the Outlander series.
If anyone has any suggestions on what to read I would love to hear it...

This is my first year officially doing a challenge. I read a lot but my goal is to read 52 books out of my normal range which is romance. So far I have read 11/52. I have also read about 15 romance but I'm not really counting those.
I love reading about what everyone else is reading and have picked up a few goods TBR so thanks!

Jeremy

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. I've been on Goodreads for about a year or two, but this is the first time I've interacted with the groups.

I am from China, but I am currently in the United States as an international student. I want to read 18 books at least and hopefully increasing that soon!

I found this group by searching. I sifted through several other groups but their rules are quite ridiculous by my terms. If I want to comment on something, I will, but if I have to write something every ten days or get kicked off? No bueno. Not my type of group.
Lastly, my reading goal for this year is 40 books. I love reading, but I feel like I've done too much of it in the past couple years. I'm missing out on living life and gaining new experiences because I'm just reading all the time. I've forced myself to cut back from 2-3 books a week in 2015 to 1-2 books a month in 2016. While that doesn't equal out to 40 books by the end of the year, there are some books that are either realllly short like the Alchemist (which I'm waiting very patiently for through my public library) and others which I just can't seem to put down.
Anyways, that's me! I'm glad to meet you all!

oh i didn't know he was coming to jersey now i am excited!

I typically enjoy crime fiction, young adult books, and Nicholas Sparks. I have been trying to branch out and read new authors and genres.

Hello Gabi!
That sounds like a good and wide of range of books to be into. I'm glad that, even at your age, you're into your reading and books.
Welcome to the group - happy reading!

Hi Kelly!
Welcome to the group!
I'm sure you can find plenty of recommendations from other readers - I personally like Ian Rankin's books if you haven't checked him out already.
Happy reading!

Hi Nick,
Thank you! I'm excited to be in this group. I couldn't help but notice you're from London! Wow! I want to go to Oxford University. I love England so much! Sorry I just had to say that. Anyway thank you.
Gabriella

No worries, honestly! I typically have that reaction whenever people notice I'm from London, so honestly no need to apologise! ^_^
And you're welcome.

I like to read fiction, but I am trying to expand to nonfiction. My current interest is middle grade (historical, realistic, contemporary, fantasy) books.
I think I found this group at the bottom of the page for I am Malala where it says discuss this book thread.
My reading goal is to read more nonfiction and finish book series I've started.

Hi Cindy!
That seems like a good goal.
I'm not sure which recommendations I could give to you - I read just about everything.

This February I read

Cindy, WWI has always been one of my favorite historical topics as well. I'm not sure how old you are, but All Quiet on the Western Front was introduced to me in middle school.

My big love is World War 2, and I'm about to buy Horror In The East: Japan And The Atrocities Of World War - II.

My name is Linda. I'm mother to 4 and part time caregiver to my mom, so I don't always get as much time to read as I would like.
I read a reply somewhere that talked about a reader's favorites being whatever they were into at the time, which sounds a lot like me. I have gone through book phases, you might call them. I had a horror/Stephen King phase, a mystery phase, a romance phase and now I sort of bounce around to whatever sounds interesting. Overall, though, I have always enjoyed Fantasy, with The Earthsea Trilogy and The Chronicles of Narnia being some of my all-time favorites. I also loved the Little House series and the Anne of Green Gables series.
I guess I'm really open to most genres (right now I've been on a Walking Dead graphic novel kick - trying to catch up on those since I'm hooked on the show), as long as the story sounds interesting. I didn't quite make my reading challenge goal of 75 books last year (but I got close-ish), so I decided to lower my goal to see if I could meet it and perhaps pass it in 2016. My goal, as it stands, is 60 books. Two of the books on my currently reading list are there because I am reading them, a little at a time, out loud to my kids before bed, which they love - and which is still reading, so I count it.
I only recently discovered various groups on here and am slowly giving the whole experience a try.

As for genres I am usually drawn to historical fiction with hints of romance. Chalk it up to reading Romeo and Juliet obsessively when I was young.
As for my favorite author I would have to say Cassandra Clare although I have probably re-read all of Jane Austen's works over twenty times. As an honorable mention I'd probably say Isuna Hasekura who wrote the light novel series 'Spice and Wolf'.
Today I finished I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson so if you would like to talk about it feel free to message me and if you have any recommendations I'd love to hear them
My goal is fifty books as last year I only managed around twenty and it really irked me so I decided to aim higher this time round.

Hello Linda!
You saying The Walking Dead graphic novels, I just bought the first two today as I'm, also yes, hooked on the show.
I'm not an expert on Fantasy novels so unfortunately I cannot give you any recommendations I'm afraid, maybe some Tolkien or the Game of Thrones series. You'll have to ask someone who's more knowledge in that field.
60 book sounds a good goal, definitely a revision from your previous goal of 75. Good luck with that and let us know how you get.
Yes, I myself am new to the groups and find it excellent to talk to like-minded readers.
Happy reading!

Hi Sophie!
You're up North, I'm down South - I live in London.
Romeo and Juliet - classic! Couldn't ask for a better book to read when you're young.
Much like Fantasy, I'm not an expert in Romance novels - I'm more of cop/detective, thriller/action/adventure kind of reader, although I do deviate into history books and historical fiction.
50 books sounds like a great goal. Don't get irked at not reaching your target - this stuff happens! Be glad even if you managed just a few books.
As always, let us know how you get on with your target and happy reading!

I am Anna from Moscow. I practise my english by reading books and chatting:) You are welcome!

- Where are you from? I am from California.
- What kinds of books do you like to read? I like to read super natural, si-fi, young adult and romance novels.
- How did you find our group? I came across this group when I was looking for a link for the popsugar reading challenge so that I could share it in my own group, and I found this group and thought I would join.
- What's your reading goal? I started small, 16 in 16 but I am almost there I am thinking of moving it up to 26, and ultimately maybe being able to finish the list or at least that amount of books which would be 41. The most I've done was 60 in 1 yr. we'll see how it goes.
