Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2016!

I signed up to the Reading Challenge and aim to read 25 books this year. I certainly hope to read a lot more. I used to, but somewhere along the way I got less and less time and was probably reading one book a month. 25 books this year is about two a month, which works out to one a fortnight. That allows for longer books that might take longer to read.
Please feel free to add me as a friend.

I like reading fantasy and classics, but I most enjoy reading YA. My 2016 reading challenge goal is set on 20!
I found the group through browsing, and I'm happy to be part of a group of people who love books as much as I do :)

I'm Gunta and I live in Riga, Latvia.
I used to read a lot, but, while studying philology, I read so much, that I some how lost my love for books and reading habit. Now I'm trying to get back on track. With little steps.
Love to read all kind of books, mostly realistic novels.

I love reading almost all kind of fiction (horror excluded), but really few non fiction books. I think I've read too much literature theory while being at university, and drop it. I first read in French, but i've started read a lot in English in the last years too.
My goal for 2016 is a total of 100 books, while doing the Popsugar challenge (with my dad, updated with some categories from last year, for 52 categories instead of 40, maybe we are a bit crazy) and a A-Z challenge a friend of mine made me! Lot of reading to do for the year! Cam't wait to go on!
Hello, nice to meet all of you. I'm Marina, from Spain, and like you I love books. I like it so much that sometimes I spend more time reading than making other stuff.
I normally read the same kind of genre: romantic, paranormal-romantic, chick lit... But I also like authors like Agatha Christie, Dan Brown, and Ken Follet.
I really likr this group because I think that's really refreshing to challenge myself, to discover new genres, new authors, new books. It's a way to find books that in other way you wouldn't have read.
I expect that this year I can take note of all the books I read, and also I discover new ones (different from the ones I've read). My target is 120 books (or more, if it's possible), and for the moment I've read 2!
I hope you help me to discover new worlds, histories and characters I may fall in love with!

I am participating in the POPSUGAR and Goodreads Reading Challenge, that's why I found this group. My goal this year is to read 50 books. Of course, I'd be happy to share my insights on whatever I'm reading with all of you. I am looking forward to meet new, interesting people here, engage in the group discussions and be active in the community. I appreciate whatever book recommendations you have in store. Sharing is caring!

I'm a 21 y/o student from Denmark, lover of books and nail polish.
As an English major, I have read and am going to read many classics, but my true passion is fantasy - both books, tv-series, and movies :-D
During the last half year or so, I haven't gotten around to read as much as I'm used to or wanted to, so my challenge for 2016 is really just about getting back in the game, finding myself as a reader again.
I'm currently reading the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, and so far it's going great. I've already finished the first book, and I'm well into the second. I'm hopeful that I'll get back into my old reading habits or at least creating new ones, because reading has always been a huge part of my life :-)
Hopefully I'll also make some new acquaintances by joining this group :-)
Best wishes to you all!
I'm Lisa from Texas. :) I am an elementary librarian who reads for my own enjoyment every day. I love to share books and discuss books with people of all ages!

I am a busy teenager, so I often find reading time while at school, or when I am in the car on the way to meetings, events, etc. I am a big fan of classics. I love timeless novels by authors such as Tolkien, Austen or Dumas. I also like to read young adult novels. I read mostly fantasy and sci-fy YA novels. Books by Cassandra Clare never fail to make it to my best-books-ever-read list.
I found this group because I was thinking about joining a discussion group, but I needed something that I could do at my own pace that would be flexible with my busy schedule.
My reading goal this year is 70 books."

I like checking out new books/genres but mostly read fantasy, mystery - adventure, romance and dystopian novels.
I'm hooked to YA dystopian novels right now!!!
I read the Divergent series few months back.... and loved it!!!

I read about a book a week!

I found an online book challenge from Bustle.com that encourages people to diversify their books this year and read more women and people of color others. The challenge can be found at #bustlereads on twitter.
So I signed up for Good Reads and want to read at least 20 books this year. The first book I'm reading is Wild Seed by Octavia Butler.
I'm excited to read and discuss books with others this year.

I am Branigan and I have been on GoodReads for a few years, but joined this group today to get more motivation on reading and talk to nice book readers like myself!
I am:
-An equestrian. It is my passion, my hobby and my life, basically. I am training my baby horse that I raised. He will turn 2 in May! :)
-A full time college junior from the USA
-my goal is to read at least 3 books a month from my large collection (106? of "owned but not read")! I hope to thin out my books that i havent read but own!! lol
-I like to read YA in paranormal, romance or both. I like just about anything and have a favorite in almost every category of book genres!
:D

Oooh, equestrian? That is my dream! I have no idea about any of that stuff though, ha! Kudos to you, and hope you get your reading goals done this year!

Thank you! It truly is an incredible way to live and very rewarding!:) I hope you meet your goals as well!

I'm Wow :)
I'm from Saudi Arabia. Books among other things are my form of Escapism. I'm willing to read books that are well written from any Genre, but Fantasy and Classics and Comics are things i usually read.
I joined this group so that I can keep up with my goal for this year
to read 100 books and finish my TBR Shelf
Thanks for Having me here !
I wish you all a Happy reading Year.
Ps sorry for any misspellings >.<

I'm Jessie, I'm originally from Macedonia but I live in Germany. I love reading and dedicate time to books at any point of the day when I can find time :).
I read mostly fantasies, mystery/crime and classics, but I wouldn't say no to a good book from other genres.
I've been member of Goodreads for couple of years now, and in that period I haven't joined any group so far, so I decided to try it out as well. I searched for groups and this one seemed quite interesting :).
The goal for this year is between 25 and 30 books, so let's see how that goes :).
Cheers,
Jessie

I found this group through Exploring in Goodreads and I plan to read 100 books this year (already 2 books ahead of schedule!) I planned to read 100 last year, but I only managed to read 20. I look forward to meeting new people, so don't be shy and give me a shout-out!
I hope you have a good time reading ANY books this year!!!

I read EVERYTHING from everyone, provided that there's a good story and a good style.. Or at least one of them!
I'm a little worried by big books, but I think I've found a way to deal with them.. In 2015 I've read (and enjoyed!) some books with 600+ pages, and I hope 2016 will be my year!
I love reading challenges because listing things makes me super happy!
I do have a notebook for all the reading challenges I have joined.. :D
I found your gruop through a GR friend, Rowi!!
My reading goal for 2016 is 150 books :)

Hi Robin! :-) It's like you're describing me - I've spent way to much time watching series rather than reading them lately. My challenge is also to get back to reading, recovering the bookworm in me :-)

Hi, everyone! I'm from a city near San Francisco, California. I like to read sci-fi, horror/weird fiction, and am beginning to get into comic books. I've read Saga and Tank Girl, and am interested in reading Hellboy and Swamp Thing next.

I'm James from London.
I mainly like to read fiction, mystery, horror and crime, but I will read genres I would not usually read this year.
I found Goodreads by simply googling 'book clubs' and this website came up.
I have set myself a goal to read one book per month, so that's 12 this year. I would obviously like to read more if I have the time around work and other things.
One of my favourite books I read last year was Susan Hill's 'The Woman In Black'. I loved it. I've also seen the two films and stage play, so you can tell how much I like it :) I also really enjoyed 'The Various Haunts Of Men', also by Susan Hill, and I intend on reading the second 'Simon Serrailler' case 'The Pure In Heart'.
Currently reading Paula Hawkins' 'The Girl On the Train', and it's a very engaging read.

This may sound strange, but I can't pinpoint what my book type is. It's easier to talk about what I don't like, which is love stories, science fiction, westerns. A biography has to be really good for me to read it, and non-fiction can't be bland.
When I signed up for the reading challenge, I checked my friends tab and noticed I only had 1 other friend doing it. Not that I can't read on my own, but everything is more fun with friends. So I searched through groups and narrowed it down to this one.
My reading goal this year is 50 books, preferably at the rate of about 1 book per week.

I recently joined on Goodreads (about a year, I'm still fresh!).
I enjoy fantasy and all kinds of fantasy, mystery, love creepy books (though haven't read many) and young adult.
I found the group by some posts of a friend.
And for this year my goal are 50 books.

My name is Liene and I live in Riga, Latvia. I work in a library and i love books, cats and ballet.
I read all kinds of books. But i prefere fiction and fantasy.
My favorite books is Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster. I have loved it since i was a kid. First i fell in love with the story over the Radio play and then i read a book.
I have few challenges this year. Not just to read 29 books this year. half of them will be books that are chosen by my sister and friends. They have chosen books for me to read this year and i will read tell till the end of the year.
I`m one of those people who likes to books even if they don`t really enjoy them.

This year I hope to finish 100 books for my reading challenge and I came across this group in my feed :)

My name is Claudia and I am from California.
I like all kinds of books and I am up for any book recommendations anyone may have. My favorite genres to read are the thriller/mystery kind as well as those fiction feel good books.
I actually knew about GoodReads for a while but haven't done anything with it. I'm hoping to change that so I'm still trying to find my way around this website.
My reading goal for this year is to read 30 books. I love books but don't really have time to read them, so I'm hoping this challenge will help me change that. :)

My name is Laura, and I live in the Des Moines, Iowa metro area. I am a librarian at Drake University. I read lots of different things, but I especially like literary fiction, YA, and memoirs. Working at a library is dangerous (I think I have over 80 books checked out right now, down from the 100 I used to have), plus I have ordering power, so I can order in pretty much anything I want to read.
My goal for this year is to read 110 books. I had a goal of 100 last year and read 137, so here's hoping I overachieve like that again this year!

Since i haven't read much, i don't know exactly which is my favorite genre, but from those i have read, i might be interested in much more than one.
Finally, and because i have just started getting into reading more, my goal for 2016 is 16 books, although i expect to read a few more.
I look forward to reading more and meeting new people.
I hope you all have a nice day :D

At the end of 2015 I actually published my first novel, "Jessica Lost Her Wobble."

I try to read as many genres as possible, but am mainly drawn to horror and crime as well as some classic literature.
Because I loved how the challenge actually made me think more about the books that I've read (oh, how many stars?), I wanted to take it one step further this year by joining this group. So, I'm looking forward to reading new books and meeting new people!

I like different Genres. When I would read anything over the past 10 years, it was always a Nicholas Sparks book. I never thought I would enjoy The Hunger Games or anything like it. But I read all three of them and loved them! I just finished Gone Girl and loved/hated that book, if that is possible! It seems to be a trend that every book I have read has been made into a movie. I love watching the movie later and knowing things that aren't in the movie but are in the book. It's like I had a behind the scenes look that those who didn't read the book don't get. :)
I have a list of books that I'm setting my sights on for 2016. I am a slow reader due to a lack of time. Also, as I find myself near the end of a book, I read slower. I don't want the story to end. Am I crazy? Is it just me?
Anyways, I'm super excited to finally enjoy reading for the first time in my life. I never thought I would read for fun! I am looking forward to seeing all the recommendations that come across this challenge group!

My favorite genres of all are definitely fantasy and science fiction, but I'm an avid reader and almost anything that attracts my eye or has a good recommendation eventually finds its way into my TBR list.
I found this group by chance after finally entering a reading challenge of my own (50 books for 2016) and looking for more interesting challenge or reading ideas.
Although I haven't defined any parameters for the books on my challenge, I think that checking out the 1001 Books You Must Read, reducing a bit of my ever growing TBR list and finishing the books I stopped reading midway sounds like a good plan.
This is the first group I join here on Goodreads and I'm very excited to meet you all and I hope I can make some good friends and discover more amazing books.

I enjoy reading a lot, its one of my passions- an other one is gaming. I like to read mystery, thriller, fantasy, romance but I'll read anything. Less favorite genres are history and biographies.
Your Group popped up while looking through Groups and I really liked you Challenges so I joined.
My Challenge for 2016 is to read 25 books but i hope it will be more than that in the end. :D
