WHAT IS EVERYBODY READING NOW?

Very insightful into the relationships between the Justices. Turning out to be a lively little book.

I got this one for Chri..."
I read that one last summer--it was good. Have you also read
Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History by Erik Larson? I enjoyed that one almost as much as "Devil in the White City."
Sorry...

I finished

Don't forget to cite the author's link in your above post, Amy. You are getting the hang of it!!!

I also read

While I'm not all that fond of the writing style, the stories are very interesting. I do have to keep reminding myself that it is the author's journey in capturing veterans' stories, and not strictly about the veterans' stories.

I've never read any of her books so looking forward to a new experience.

I have just received this book and can't wait to read it. I have always been fascinated by the relationship between "The Welsh Wizard" David Lloyd George, British PM and Francis Stevenson, his young mistress. Every time I read a book about the Versailles Treaty of 1918/19, there was always a mention that Ms. Stevenson accompanied the married DLG but there was never much information given. The title sounds like one of those bodice ripping romance novels (ugh) but I know it is not.

I'm not too far in but it is interesting so far.

I had originally posted this to the wrong book club. My copy and paste must not have worked right. Sorry, I didn't check it.
No problem at all Patricrk but I wanted folks to know right away what book you meant. Thank you for correcting this.

I just started this book, but I think this will be a really enjoyable read - the author wants to think you about all the facts you thought you know about the ancient Egypt - so this book simply forcing you to re-think about your knowledge and things you thougt these are common facts.

I'm reading; "Commander of the Faithful" by W. Kiser.

I'm 100 pages into

I'm in the very early stages of preparing for the next installment of

As part of my preparation, I've begun to read

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Pearl of the Antilles. This book is comprised of articles/essays/reminiscences about Cuba, so it can be read at your own pace. Unfortunately, it is rather long and might be too big for you to take along.
Another take on Cuba is this book which provides a history of the American mob in the nightlife of Havana. It is quite well done, and if it is not exactly what you are looking for, it is certainly something you might want to read after you return from your trip.

I'm going there in April and I want to read up a bit. I'm looking for something other than standard tourist guides or novels. Something abo..."
Cuba, sounds like an adventure! I have not read this but picked it up on the recommendation of a friend and it looks quite interesting. If you read it I'd love to hear what you think.

Jill, to be honest...this book was really good at the beginning and at the end, showing how much the old Egyptians knew about architecture, astronomy, medicine, how the women were handled etc, but, and there is a big but...the author tried to convince the reader that King Thutmose III is King David of Israel, Akhenaton shall be Mose and Tuthankaton shall be Jesus Christ (if I remember well, I was a bit pissed) because it was lacking of facts and was quite unbelievable for me, and with this the author ruined the whole book for me.

Hi Marjorie I have this on my TBR and it looks very good. I should add that I have not read anything on Cuba...but hope this helps.

There is another book in the same vein that might interest you, Geevee. It is:

It is a well written examination of the lives and actions of Goebbles, Goering, Himmler, and von Ribbentrop. Pretty darn chilling.

Geeve, maybe this book could be also interesting for you:

- it's on my TBR-list, I don't know when will I time to read it.

Thanks Jill - I've added it to my TBR :)

Thanks Morgiana added to my TBR - I need a remote cottage where I'm snowed in for months (with food and fuel) to reduce my TBR.
Are these two of interest for you - both published last year with good reviews?
Heinrich Himmler by Peter Longerich (no cover or author photo)

Now I have to add the book that Morgiana mentioned....so many good books out there.

LOL - I dream of my cottage and piles of books where I could shift the cottage's location to somewhere different and remote each day so I could wander out whilst having a tea break (very British I know) looking at new views around the world :)
