What Neal Asher book should I read first?

I read them in the order of publication and that worked well for me.

The Skinner. It's just fun. I've read everything Asher has written including his short stories. The Polity is the only SF universe I have ever wanted to live in.

Edit: If you want to get a good feel of the universe before dropping fully in start with Prador Moon. The Gabble: And Other Stories is good also.

Either read them in the order of publication or read the Agent Cormac series then Spatterjay then the Polity novels. Personally, I prefer the Cormac books.

I read the first Cormac book, but I liked the explanations of tech at the beginning of each chapter more than the actual story.
