Have you ever found yourself completely by accident reading books with similar themes? Not long ago I realized that I had read two books in a row which featured men who wore eyeliner. Okay, that is more of a coincidence than a theme, but it was kind of weird.

I chose "The Rosie Project" for book group because I thought it would be a light, fun, romancy read and it had reviewed well. Then my mom suggested I read "Far From the Tree" by Andrew Solomon which is a 700 page book about how families handle raising children who are different from them, like deaf or gay children and those with autism and other differences. It is extremely interesting, but so long and there is so much to digest it may take me a while to get through it. In the meantime I listened to "Modern Romance" by Aziz Ansari which is about dating in the age of Facebook and Tinder. Then I picked up "The Rosie Project" this week to find that I was reading three parallel books.
