Good grief, I am so late in getting started here. Welcome to the holiday season. XDOverall, I really liked this book. I find it interesting that on the official site, SK mentioned that she completely rewrote the book from scratch, and it shows in the writing. =)
Desideria was the first League heroine that I really and truly liked. Yes, she did make a mistake or two, but she kicked ass and proved herself resourceful.
The Qillaqs were ... interesting to say the least, they reminded me of Amazons.
While Caillen's designation as heir to an empire seems sudden, there are hints in previous books as to what was going to happen; in BoF, it is stated that Caillen was adopted, while in BoI he is identified as Emperor Caillen de Orczy.
Just a thought or two, to get things started. =)
This is one of my favorites! I ended up loving everything about Caillen, and his magic backpack. I wrote my character with a magic backpack before I read this, so the first time Caillen pulled something out of it I laughed and laughed.
Oh yes, that everything-but-the-sink backpack. Although I suspect that if one looked hard enough, they'd find a sink, too. XDEveryone should have a backpack like that. XD
