I am so going, I just started the 2nd book yesterday, but The Giver, it didn't really end on an ending? Do you know what I mean? So if the movie does well they might do a 2nd, cause they kinda left you on a cliff hanger. But other than that, great book, I'm going to see the movie! Although I'm a little disappointed because if you have seen the trailer, they could have made it a great movie, it has potential, but they decided to do it there way. Also you can't deny it because the whole storyline is cool and they have Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep paried up in one movie together. Overall Score for me:
Movie (Or at least what it looks like): 3/10
Book: 9/10 I gave the book 4 stars

I might, but I'm pretty sure I won't like it because The Giver is a book you imagine a lot of. Nobody imagines it like anybody else. The movie won't be exactly like I imagined it or anybody else imagined it. One example is the color. I always have seen it without color, but the movie is full color...I'm not sure I want to see it.
Definitely going! I love The Giver (though not as much as Number the Stars); it was one of my favorite books we read in 8th grade (along with the Hunger Games). I consider it a classic and am very excited to see it on the big screen.
I will, but just because I want to see how they went about filming it. It seems like a hard book to adapt.
I might. I am sad that it really isn't following the book as much and was hoping for a black and white world. Then a pop of color.
It is a great debate in my head of whether to go or not.

I'm going to go see it if I have a surplus of money. I'm disappointed by the trailer because they made it seem like just another teen action movie with high-tech stuff and that's not what the book was about! God, so frustrating. But I want to support Meryl Streep and I don't want to judge the movie before it even comes out. I don't really think the book should have a movie since it's not very...action-y. That's probably why they seem to have changed a lot of things. But I don't like how the point of the book will probably not shine through all the Hollywood glamour.

I thought the same thing when I saw the preview this weekend. This is one of my favorite childhood books. I hope they did it justice, though I doubt i

Hollywood is making a movie of this? If they are then I probably will go see it. And I agree with Nur.
I probably will because I love the book. When I like a book and it comes out in movies, I have to watch the movie.
I'll see it when it comes on tv. Ticket sales are waaaay too crazy where I'm at to even think about going out to see it when it's in theaters. Also give me some time to skim it again so I can remember some of the key parts about it.
i soooooo going! didnt even know there was a movie till yesterday when i finished the book!
I'm terrified of seeing this movie. The previews just made me shudder.
I may see it in theaters. I don't know, sorta depends if I have the time. This isn't going to be that movie that I'm like, "AHHH! I HAVE TO GO THE MIDNIGHT SHOWING!" It's more like the, "Oh, hmm...so you guys wanna see this?" Oh, and if they have stuff about the "stirrings" then I may be restricted from watching it. So, we'll see.
I'm a little sceptical about the movie..
a lot of things are just so different, and I know that the movie doesnt HAVE to follow the book exactly.
but there are things I thought were a little off just by watching the trailor.
the movie looks like its going to be something completely different.

Wasn't everything in the book supposed to be colourless and only the Giver was able to see colour? This movie will have a cooler affect if it showed the world through black, white and grey before Jonas is introduced to colour. Am I wrong about this?
