No, it was more about wanting enough time to inform all the members about the changes, followed by enough time to vote and leave space to organise getting the book.

The Heart Goes Last doesn't really appeal to me either. I plan to skip that one. I wonder if it got more votes for the author or the story? Just curious if there are a lot of Atwood fans that want to read it just because she wrote it. (Nothing wrong with that - I read books based on the author sometimes too.) I hope the voters read and discuss.
Janina wrote: "I'm not sure about it either. I loved Oryx & Crake, but the summary of this one doesn't interest me at all. I'm probably going to read Beacon or Armada instead."
My vote was for Armada .... which did come in second.

I thought Beacon looked interesting. That would have been my first choice. I also would have been interested in The Fold, but neither came really close.

I read Armada last year. I liked it. Regardless of what the Ready Player One fanatics say, it was still a good book.

Me too Liz, I think I will propose it as a buddy read.

Obviously they could be incorrect but according to this, there will be 4 books.

I read the Q&A and that's one of he answer:
"Penguin originally bought just 'An Ember in the Ashes' as a standalone book. The end wasn't exactly a huge cliff hanger, it just left room for a second story if there ever was going to be one and now that there is I'm super excited about it! I believe the first one ends fine, some people really want to find out what happens and others don't. It can be left just where it ended I don't think it matters too much but I definitely know that when the second book comes out I'm definitely going to read it. So basically it just depends on the person. Hope that helped!"

Every review I've read has complained about the ending and calling for a second book ..... I'm not sure many would agree about the standalone theory lol

So I'm out. LOL! Unless the books follow different characters...
I'm always so hesitant to go looking for info like this because I don't want to read spoilers!

In a way, I wish there were more standalone books in the fantasy genre, but I also always want more if it's a good world ...
