There's The Shell Collector - it's a collection of short stories not one story. I haven't read it but it's on my TBR list...

I am enjoying it very much! I am reading it for Hawaii - for the coconut cake on the cover, but I just looked up all of the other tasks that it could be used for. It could be used for the food task in Quebec. Louella's is a French food restaurant in Milwaukee - though this might be the weakest place that it could fit. It could work for Ecuador where the MC is a cook or baker. She is both. It could work for the food task in Morocco too. They are definitely talking about food!

I know it's not an official challenge but I am trying to do it in the spirit of the challenge - any suggestions? Might I be permitted a non-real rainbow if all else fails, for instance?

Some of those may still need a ruling, but they look pretty good to me. There may be more on this Rainbow Book Covers! list too, but some of them have the colors, not an actual rainbow. Hope that helps a bit.

It wasn't a request for a rule change. Just an attempt to discuss the problem I am having. I guess my little quest is just silly.

I always click through it to find the right covers or editions for my purposes.

According to my records, you've completed the challenge and the "all-continents" sweep. You could still acquire the "all-sites sweep", which is a minimum of one task from each site. It sounds like you are trying to read all tasks, for which there isn't a badge.
If you are going for the "all-sites sweep", you may have to substitute a different task.
If you're doing your own thing, (like reading all the tasks) why do my rules matter?

Yes, Janice, I am doing that and not for a badge - but still want to do it in the spirit of the challenge. I guess I'll just have to work to the best I can do for my own quest. I may have completed the all sites sweep - I will check. :P You are quite right, I am being needlessly pernickety in doing that by trying to follow the rules exactly.

Well, me to; I'm trying to accomplish the one task from every site, by collecting only souvenirs, that is the 3rd. task only. And I'm following truly the rules nonetheless

Report it in the reporting thread. I don't think it's necessary to list them all. You can just refer to your challenge thread.
I'll give you your badge now because I'm leaving in the morning for the weekend and I want to make sure I don't miss it.

I really liked that book. I listened to it on a train. It was really touching and nothing like what I normally read. It was a hidden gem to me.

I agree, Jannene. It was a terrific find and I would probably not have come across it, if I had not been searching for Geo books.

I have not read any of them, but those two short stories collections are in my TBR. Both of them are by Anthony Doerr, the author of All the Light We Cannot See. I hope it helps.
