An Invisible Thread Book Review An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff is a bibliography about a woman named Laura who meets an eleven year old panhandler on the streets. She met him on a Monday and decided to take him to lunch. This kind gesture turned strangers into friends and friends into family. As you read this book you learn about all the ups and downs the two of them went through in their life. How two unlikely friends meet, and how the two of them changed each other's lives. You learn about their pasts and how each other changes the life of the other. You learn about friendship and how far it can take a couple of people. The day Maurice and Laura first met was the day that changed both of their lives. This novel will break your heart. As you read you learn about the past of the two friends. You discover all the terrifying events they have gone through. Although it is heart breaking, it is heart warming as well. You learn how they changed each other's life. By the end of the novel you will have eyes full of tears. Although this story is very inspirational and heart warming, there were some confusing components to it as well. Laura would talk about the current events, then talk about how Maurice's past effected how he acted a certain way during this event. During these passages I got confused on the order of events. They were not in order from youngest to oldest but how his past effected his present behavior. I would get lost on when these past situations happened to Maurice, for Schroff jumped around from one situation to another in his past. Besides this confusion, Schroff wrote in a precise fashion that clearly expressed why Maurice would act a certain way. An Invisible Thread is very similar to the book The Blind Side in genre and plot. Both of the main characters had troubled paths and were saved by two very similar women. Both women were well off in money and had a high status. These women saved these boys lives by giving them nutrients and love. In the end both of these boys were saved by the influence of a women in their lives, and have become successful in their career path. I recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for a heart felt story about trust, love, and companionship. You will fall in love with the characters and be inspired to make a difference in yours and other people's lives.
