Awesome beginning. I am so in love with Raffe. I want to go back in time and make things better for some of Penryn's loved ones. Hopefully her future looks better in the next chapters...

I have to agree this second books was by far better than the first one .. it has so much detail and background information, we learn much more about the characters and we also have something to look forward, I have a feeling the last book will be so much better than all the other two put together...

Chapters 1-10: (view spoiler)[ This book picks up right where Angelfall left off. I feel bad for Paige and what happened to her. Also, I thought it was funny when Penryn woke up and everyone started to scream including her mother. They now live in a history class. That's got to be interesting. I hope Penryn can see Paige more as her little sister before than what has happened to her. They think she is some expert after being with one fallen angel who I love, Raffe. OMG! Raffe! You should beat Bellei up. I really like Dee-Dum. They are funny. OMG! Dead angels are being brought back to life?! Also, they are killing the scorpion angels. That's intriguing. There is a survivor, Clara. She went to hell and came back to life. I feel bad for Paige, she can't eat what she wants to eat. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 11-20: (view spoiler)[ OMG! Paige walking around like a hyena on all fours is scary, but obedient. That was a bizarre dream about Raffe. I can't wait for more Penryn and Raffe scenes. Poor Paige. She needs to eat something. The little Daughter of Man sacrificed herself to help him. I thought that was sweet. Is Penryn trying to regain her memories or something? Aww...Paige killed the guy who attacked them with a bat. OMG! Her mother could die if she is not careful. Oh snap, a scorpion angel just appeared out of nowhere. I would run for my life. Chapter 1-10: (view spoiler)[ So far I am enjoying this book a lot. The story picked up exactly where Angelfall left off. I feel really bad for Paige as she is clearly still suffering from what happened to her. I wish we got to see more of Raffe as he hasn't been in the book that much so far. (hide spoiler)]

Up to Chapter 15: (view spoiler)[I love these little insights Penryn gets into Raffe's old life - I wonder why she's getting them? Does it have something to do with the fact that she holds his sword now? Raffe was one badass mofo back then (kinda still is).
I'm nervous about Paige. She probably needs raw meat, like Penryn guessed, and that's why she hasn't been able to keep down people food. But I'm afraid Paige will get so hungry that she'll lose control and attack someone. That might get the family evicted from Resistance Camp... (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 40-50: (view spoiler)[ This book is so fast paced and I am flying through it. I do wish that we got to see more of Raffe and Penryn together as I have really missed that in this book. The plot is very interesting and I can’t wait to see what will happen. (hide spoiler)]

I liked that we got a lot of background information in this book and we got to learn a lot of things. The story was really fast paced and I couldn't put it down. Ren & Raffe ~ (view spoiler)[The near misses when Cassia saw Raffe but couldn't talk to him was killing me. It took soooo long for them to get back together. But then it was worth it. I will never look the same at Raisin Bran again. LOVE the banter between them!! If I had any doubts that it's really you... I was really hoping for another kiss. I have no idea how they are going to be together...gotta read the next book soon! (hide spoiler)]

Dee-Dum ~ They are my two favorite characters, besides Raffe and Ren and Pooky Bear

Pooky Bear ~ LOVE the idea of a sentient sword. (view spoiler)[ Loved the scene where Ren had to tell Raffe what she named the legendary archangel sword. But loved it even more when all the other swords dropped before her. It was nice to see Raffe's memories from the sword's point of view. Dream sword lessons were very helpful! (hide spoiler)]

Crazy Mom ~ (view spoiler)[ She scares the *#$^%& out of me, but I loved her running amok around Alcatraz and annoying everyone. Then drawing on the Scorpion in lipstick was just nuts. Oh, and there was the guy she left the sign on after her got stung by the scorpion and no one dared touch him. And at one point, Ren lets go of her inner mom...scary! But she also still loved zombie Ren and monster Paige. Not gonna win mom of the year, but not a bad ally in the apocalypse. (hide spoiler)]

Scorpions ~ (view spoiler)[ I guessed that they were mutated people, but I couldn't figure out who was making them and why. I'm not sure what to think about them protecting Paige. What did the doctor do to Paige? But she is definitely special. (hide spoiler)]

Angels ~ (view spoiler)[ All the debauchery and killing of innocents annoys me. Good guys are no longer good when they do evil things. (hide spoiler)]

Paige ~ (view spoiler)[ I guessed that she would need raw meat to eat. Maybe it was fresh meat, since some carnivores won't scavenge, but only eat fresh kills. I was so worried that she had bonded to Beliel, thank goodness not and good for her for hurting the jerk. And I about cried when she saw that Ren had come for her and also when Ren hugged her. I was horrified when the doctor said that she was in constant pain, that's awful. Wow, I don't know how Paige can be "fixed." (hide spoiler)]

I think Pooky Bear is my favorite character too! It was so funny reading about a sword with emotions.
