Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments My 5 books:
1. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
2. Under the Greenwood Tree by Thomas Hardy
3. Suspended Sentences: Three Novellas by Patrick Modiano
4. March by Geraldine Brooks
5. Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana by Anne Rice

Random numbers: 1, 5, 1, 1, 4

Not sure I'm understanding the Randomizer instructions. I put in min 1 max 5, but each generation appears to be independent of the others. I got #1 three times and #2 and #3 never appeared.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments I think that's it, Theresa. It is how I did it too. I got 4 and 4...

Each generation is independent of the one prior. It is completely random. I also got 1 multiple times. I just ignored the duplicates, since I don't plan to read the same book multiple times. Basically, I regenerated as many times as I needed for each number to come up once and put them in the order in which they were chosen, ignoring all duplicates.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments Okay, I see I've gotten two different responses on the random numbers, so we'll have to wait for J'mom to clarify!

They should be picked by this evening so you can't pick ones specifically for the tasks :)

Edited in post 60.

Sorry, but that's not how it works. I should have been specific on that, but when I know what I mean I sometimes forget that no one else does.

You keep the numbers generated, in the order they were generated. If you have a number more than once, then you will do that task more than once. Each time will use the next book that fits.

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments EDIT to post 58:

If you don't have your books picked by the time I post the tasks today, you have until Wednesday evening. I had some extra task ideas and will mix them in to come up with a new list.

message 60: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19143 comments Ah...oops. Sorry to confuse the issue. Hmmm... I may need to pick my numbers again. If I recall, I got 1 twice in a row, but I'm not 100% sure.

Go ahead and pick again.

message 62: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments I almost missed this! Since I expect that the 12th may not be the best day for me to read, I think the absolute maximum I may read is 2 books. And somehow, I've found that the books I've chosen are mostly longer. Hmm....

Line War 503pp
Winter 827pp
Rising Strong 336pp
Silver on the Road 400pp
No Christmas Like the Present 256pp

Random numbers: 1, 4

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Boy, Snow, Bird
At the Water's Edge
The Beautiful and Damned
A Christmas Carol
About Grace

My numbers are 2 and 4; however, I will probably only read one book.

Thanks for all the kindness and loving wishes. They certainly help. Dad is still in the hospital, and I am grateful for an excellent medical team. I am really exhausted, but I have been blocking out some time each day for me lately which helps a bit.

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments That's so important, Connie. You have to take care of you, too, and having some time for you is essential for your health. Glad your Dad has a great medical team helping him, and hope he's making good progress and will be able to return to more normal life soon. Best wishes!!

Susan Guard | 695 comments Wow, this month has totally gotten away from me. I hope I'm not too late to participate. I've got a craft fair on Saturday but I think I can squeeze in at least one book. I think I'll list some of my challenge books.

Yes, My Accent Is Real: and Some Other Things I Haven't Told You
No Good Deed
About a Vampire
Winter
Tricky Twenty-Two

My numbers: 3, 5 and 2 ( though I think one book is probably it for this toppler)

message 74: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I'm so not going to finish a book this toppler. We're going to friends on Saturday then have to move the boat on Sunday. somewhere among all that there's bound to be a hangover too.

message 75: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Glad to see you joining us, Susan.

Sarah, I think you have to start listening to a book when you get home Saturday and while you're moving the boat. Maybe it could help you handle the hangover.

Good idea. It's a shame my choices are all print books. I wonder if I could get my partner to read it too me!

I'll be setting up the thread in a little while. My brain's still asleep so I think it's going to take a nap after that :)
