Monica (sophblueberry) Does anyone remember this VF recommendation made in one of the episodes? Felicia was talking about a series which was strongly in the romance category (and I believe set in a high fantasy world), where the balance of power between the two main characters is very skewed in the beginning of the series but becomes better toward the end of the series as the heroine's character develops. I believe the series was a bit on the longer side (maybe six or eight books).

I've been skimming through the episodes for ages to try to track this down, but haven't had any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Keidy | 313 comments I'm not sure but I've been looking through my wishlist and there is one title that it might be what you're looking for... though I'm not sure. Is it the Raine Benares series by Lisa Shearin?

Starts out with the book Magic Lost, Trouble Found.

Monica (sophblueberry) Hi Keidy, thanks for the message :)

I just read through the synopsis and I'm not sure if that's it. I think I remember Felicia mentioning the love interest was somehow very old or all-powerful, or he had done something legendary in his past. This synopsis doesn't give me the sense that there is such a character in these books.

But this is on my want-to-read list, so I'll check it out!

Keidy | 313 comments Oops. Sorry then. I often actually listen for other book recommendations more than the reviews of the book club picks too. I usually have Amazon open in another window and as soon as I hear something interesting, I put it in my wishlist and look at it later to see if it's a book I'm interested in reading. Other than that, I'm not sure what it could be.

There has been a lot of videos between then and now. Maybe you could question the ladies during the next live book review? Hopefully one will get back to you on it. Sorry I couldn't help more. I hope you find the book that you're looking for.

Monica (sophblueberry) Hey no worries at all :) really appreciate you trying

Keidy | 313 comments Another tip is that if one of our four ladies (ESPECIALLY Felicia) have suggested it, chances are the book is in their list of read books. Just go and click on one of the names, such as Felicia or Veronica and scroll through their massive "read" lists and see if anything interesting pops up.

I know that I've tried this method when in a written review (usually Felicia's) she mentions an author's name or a name drop of another book but the title was only half a title or the author's name was just a first name or something like that. That might help you out.

Monica (sophblueberry) Yes, I've definitely done this before! Felicia's read list is massive, though. I'd probably rewatch all the VF episodes before I dive in to that list with such a vague idea of what I'm looking for. And that way I could be entertained for many hours! :)

Monica (sophblueberry) Spent a couple more hours skimming through VF videos and it turns out that the book I was looking for is Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson, the alt pick for July 2013. In case anyone is interested!
