Michael Vey 5 So Michael and the electroclan are coming back from Taiwan and are devastated, because their safe house was attacked and their parents were there. They rendezvous in Mexico and learn that their family is okay. Everyone meets up at another safe house. Also Schema meets the anonymous voice. The point of view told in this story is VERY unique. This entire story is told from Michael’s point of view. When Michael isn’t there or close it is told from a third person point view. For example when the electroclan is together it says “I”, but still describes how the other characters are feeling. It is very complicated from the two points that the entire story is told from. I enjoyed this way of telling stories as well. In this book the point of view is told very weird, but it is still very enjoyable. This story has about three main conflicts in it. The kids don’t know whether or not their parents are alive and are trying to get back to them if they are. This takes a huge mental effect on all of them. It just tears them apart not knowing. That conflict is internal and a psychological problem. Also the Elgen are going to take over some Pacific islands and make that their home base. Elgen warships just pull up and start firing on the islands. The people have no army so what can they do but surrender. Schema, one of Hatch’s old boss’s meets one of the most important people in the story, but the problem is he should be dead. It doesn’t tell us who it is, but Schema’s reaction tells us there is a dead man walking. This is an external conflict, because of the two characters who don’t like each other at all are face to face and one of them thinks the other should be dead. I loved this book! Out of 10 I give it a 9. I really like action and this book barely had any in it. The reasons I loved it so much was because of the suspense at the end when Schema meets the voice and says, “It can’t be… You should be dead!” Also it was one of those book that wasn’t all action like the others. It was more of a transition book to set up the next one really well. Even though it doesn’t have much action it is still a really good book.
