The July picks were posted on the group page almost a month ago. They are the books featured as currently reading on the home page and the featured reads listed first in that folder. The discussion thread opened on June 30th.
The August books will be posted in a couple of days.

I read Buried in a Bog a few months ago and loved it! I immediately read the second book and have the third and fourth on my shelf ready to go.
The September books will be up soon. Kay is choosing them as our alternate, but she only found out today, so give her a few minutes :)
Ok. Here we go....Theme: Cooking/food as a business/restaurant/baking/culinary
There are soooooo many series to choose from, but for this, my first choice is
, which is book 1 in the Wisteria Tearoom series. I am reading books 4 and 5 in September for another challenge, and love this series, and the recipes included...Second choice is:
Book 1 in the Red Carpet Catering series. I've not read any of these yet, but have had them in my TBR for a while now... Both series are available in Kindle format as well as ppbk. Don't know if local libraries will have them in stock, but they are both available in multiple formats at Amazon. The Kindle prices are fairly good - Wisteria Tearoom ranges in the $5-$6 area for ebook, and book one of the Red Carpet Catering is just .99 for Kindle.
Hope this helps and I look forward to reading with you all!
If this doesn't work for some reason, let me know and I have other selections/themes I can substitute... (I read an obscene amount of books...)

Don't know if this is proper or not, but I just queried both authors to let them know we will be discussing their books this coming month, so maybe they will participate in the discussions?
I don't know what the rules are regarding that either, but it would be very cool if they did join in the discussion. I have already downloaded
to my Kindle. It's one I've been wanting to read for a while now. Thanks for giving me the chance to push it to the front of the TBR pile.

They say that it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission! ;-D
It's not a problem. I can only recall authors participating once before when I invited Margaret Maron and Kate Collins to join the discussion. There books were featured in the same month.
Let us know if either author accepts your invitation. There may be a couple of logistical issues to work out.

I just had to move it to the front of my kindle and started to read it last night. So far it seems good. I would be excited if the author was able to join us in our discussions. It would be great!

I've finished the series. but we need to move this conversation over to the topic so that others can see the interest and will join in...
For October, Barb picked dogs as the theme. The theme read is Raine Stockton Dog Mysteries by Donna Ball.
The featured read is Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade by J.J. Cook
Thank you Barb for stepping in as an alternate.

2 great series! I have a few of the Raine Stockton books on my Kindle. Maybe I can convince myself to read one of them next month. I dislike reading books on my Kindle!
I've read and enjoyed book #1 of the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade, and I keep hearing great things about the Raine Stockton books, but haven't yet started the series. Like you, Melodie, I'm hoping to convince myself to read one from each of these series next month :) I prefer print books to Kindle books too, but have the Kindle for those books I can't get in print.
I love the Raine Stockton series! I didn't realize there were so many books in the series, probably because my library only has the first four and I haven't checked on her in a while. Looks like I've got some requesting/hunting/shopping to do :)
I've been wanting to start the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade series, so this could great motivation.

It's not a mystery series, but have you read her Ladybug Farm series? I really liked the first book, and several co-workers have raved about the next few books as well.

I haven't tried that one yet - it's another series on my "I'd like to try this one day..." list.
For November I choose as an island setting, South Bass, Lake Erie. Mayhem at the Orient Express by Kylie Logan and my free pick The Long Quiche Goodbye by Avery Aames
