Ashley has two great selections, but one was just published and the other is fairly new. She's thinking about other choices, but I said I'd ask if enough people could get hold of Eyeshine, either in paperback or on kindle.

message 58: by Becky (new)

Becky | 215 comments I just checked both my libraries that i use & neither county has a copy of it. Sorry. But....... I'm ok if she chooses it! It's her choice this month after all.

Just found it on Kindle and it is on Unlimited or $2.99. I think that is reasonable for everyone, at least for most of us who have Unlimited.

Mary

P. S. What is the other book that is being considered?

The February books have been posted, They are Eyeshine by Cy Wyss Eyeshine and Murder to Go (Food Truck Mysteries #1) by Chloe Kendrick Murder to Go.

message 63: by Randa (new)

Randa | 175 comments So I know my choice isn't until May but I want to do something novel and not wait untill a few days before to find my books. That being said, and forgive me if this is a stupid question, when my month arrives do I let everyone know what theme is being chosen and then no one else can choose from that theme? Also the book of choice would obviously be another theme so would that theme then be off limits to the later people picking as well? And I'm assuming that the book of choice must be a first in series too.

message 70: by Mary (new)

Do you then get to keep the books though?

message 72: by Mary (new)

Mary (mw8019) | 273 comments No when you reach 10 for the month, then you have to give back one for each you order. You can only have 10 ever on your kindle at a time.

Selectors announce their choices in the second half of the preceding month. Posting around the 15th to 20th gives readers a chance to find the books and plan ahead.

One book is chosen from the themes listed. The second book is your choice and not based on a theme. A theme is used only once during the year. There are lots of options available so members choosing later in the year will still have several themes to choose from.

It's a featured series so the first book will be posted on the web page but members can read any book in the series.

As a selector, I narrowed my choices to 3 or 4 series months before my selection month. When they were not selected in earlier months, I announced my choices the third week of October (around the 20th) for November reads.

Another option is to post 3 to 5 choices for one of your selections and let members vote in a poll. If anyone wants to post a poll, send a message to one of the moderators before the 15th of the preceding month. We'll set up a poll so members will have time to vote and the winner can be announced around the 20th.

Robert (rdowens) I am still an Amazon Prime member. For that annual fee, we receive one free book monthly from the Unlimited selection. I have not used that feature much. I did read a book in January from that list and I am unable to get this one yet.

Does anyone know if this rolls over on 1 February or a month from you last borrowed a book?

it is a month from your last borrowed book. Sorry their rules!

Actually, you can read more than 10 books free in a month, you just have to return some before you can read more. I've got this and frequently read many more than 10 books/month thru the unlimited program. Of course, I read like some people breathe...

Yes, I should have mentioned that, you can only at any time, have 10 unlimited, but you can return and get as many as you want in a month, hence the unlimited name. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

I suggest moving any further comments about Kindle Unlimited to the Low-Cost Ebook folder. This conversation no longer has anything to do with our featured reads.

Please feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the group. Yes, you can let the group or Nell or myself know what theme you are choosing. I forgot to say what theme Ashley had chosen. I will strike through that theme so it can't be chosen for the rest of the year. Or at least I should - I'm not doing a very good job so far this year, but that better change :)

Your second book (the one of your choice) won't affect the themes. It's a good way to choose a book where the theme has already been used :)

Yes, books chosen should be the first in a series.

message 83: by Chris (new)

Chris I will not be able to do either book for February as I do not have a kindle and my libraries or book store do not have either book....sorry I won't be able to participate in February read - really sad about it because its the first time I couldn't choose either book. Please think about not getting books only in kindle form from now on, thanks.

Chris you should be able to get a kindle app for your computer if that helps at all

message 85: by Mary (new)

Mary (mw8019) | 273 comments Kindle apps are free for your computer. You can do the same things you can do with a stand alone kindle with the computer I have them on all my computers, Laptops and Desktops and tablets.

Kay (Brigidsmomma) Compton (brigidsmomma) | 122 comments They do not work in other Operating Systems than Windows, however, so if you use Linex may have to use an android smart phone or tablet instead. Those do have Kindle apps available for free download as well...

I have zero money to spend on books this year. BUT with that being said, if I have to skip a month I won't die LOL I still have tons to read.

Eyeshine is available in paperback, but may be too recent. I can't get hold of either one too, so I decided to try and read the next book in some of the series we've started here.

I could have asked for books that were possibly more available, but since I was late getting things going I didn't push it
