That's exactly what I think about this character. I believe he had had a difficult childhood and that's why he acts like that. He needed parental love and he hasn't had it. If you guys pay attention at what he says when he's with Clary most of the times, you'll see that all that he wants is her to love him. At least as a sister. I think it's a great made character and sincerely, is one of my favorites. Even when he gets a little bit annoying with his evil plans haha
I think Sebastian is a fantastic character. At the same time he's cruel, ruthless, and will stop at nothing, you can't help but feel sorry for him, maybe even like him. Sebastian wants to be loved, and that's a feeling many can relate to. But he also has this twisted understanding of love (whether it's from Valentine or his demon blood, I'm not sure). He wants Clary to stand by him, but as shown in CoHF he (view spoiler)Sebastian is smart. His plans are genius, and I never see them coming. In CoHF, (view spoiler)

No, but seriously, as far as villains go, I don't hate him. I think he's had a messed up life and it's not fair that his dad was a loony who injected his fetus with demon blood. He could have turned out to be a great kid and it's kind of hard to find out that your dad's favorite child wasn't even his own child. He liked Jace more just because he thought Sebastian was too erratic to handle stuff, which sucks for Sebastian.
It's not his fault that he's the way he is and he deserves a better life.
