Folks, the offer is open - read, post each week, review the book here on the book as a whole thread and ask a question or two for the author - those are the t's and c's.

Simply post on this thread - I so and so agree to the t's and c's. And then send me a PM with your full mailing address and full name - subject line - LANDSLIDE.

You will be considered for the free offer. I keep reposting this because it gets buried and folks keep asking me if the offer is open - Yes it is.

Hunter Jones (huntersjones) | 21 comments Hi Bentley, I can't message you because GR says your profile is set to private. I am very interested in reading this book. I agree to all the T&Cs. Many thanks.

Bryan Craig Thanks everyone, Bentley is traveling, etc. but he will back to follow up on the status of this book.

Ann D Hi, Bentley. I sent you a PM about my interest in getting a free copy of the book if any are still available. I agree to all the requirements.

I understand you have been traveling, but when you have time to visit this site again let me know if you did not get my PM. I had some trouble with my email address on Good Reads. It has now been corrected.

Hi

You can send a personal message as a member of the HBC rather than directly - go to member of HBC and then find Bentley and it should be possible.

Holly | 8 comments I agree to the terms and conditions of your offer. I hope it's not too late, I am very interested in reading, reviewing and discussing your book: Landslide. Thank you~

Ann D I will abide by the terms and conditions for the discussion and really look forward to participating. I lived through this period, but did not pay close attention. I know I will learn a lot.

G Hodges (glh1) | 901 comments According to Amazon, this book will be released on September 23, so can I assume we won't start the discussion until it is readily available to purchase?

Justin Poe | 50 comments Bentley, I too am very interested in this book and will gladly participate in the discussions. PM sent.

I too checked Amazon and see it's not released until Set 23. I would hate to miss out on reading with the group if we start the 8th.

Bryan Craig We will check with Bentley on this, but I'm pretty sure that we will not start the reading on the 8th due to the delay in its release.

message 82: by John (new) - rated it 3 stars

John | 170 comments Thanks Bryan, that's what I was thinking when the notification went out that we were starting- I thought the release date was delayed.
I haven't heard about the books either, so hoping to hear soon.

Bryan Craig No worries, Bentley will be back around to get us all up to date and books sent.

He has some family events and overseas work, but rest assured, he will return. Thanks for everyone's patience.

I'm looking forward to reading it with all of you. I probably will be comparing it a little to Rick Perlstein's works:

Nixonland America's Second Civil War and the Divisive Legacy of Richard Nixon 1965-1972 by Rick Perlstein Before the Storm Barry Goldwater and the Unmaking of the American Consensus by Rick Perlstein by Rick Perlstein Rick Perlstein

Hunter Jones (huntersjones) | 21 comments I really want to read this book in order to see how the author's story compares to my grandfather's stories of that era in politics. Should prove interesting, to say the least.

Michael (michaelbl) | 407 comments U.S. only? Looks like I am still waiting for the book release. Oh well. There is lots on the stack to read. I will likely still follow the discussions. Signed: US guy working/living in Canada ;-)

Bryan Craig I think so, Michael, the publishers have restrictions, but Bentley will confirm this.

Would you consider buying it or getting from the library?

message 90: by Matt (new)

Matt | 4 comments I would also like to participate. Any new information about a new release date? I see on amazon its not being released until 23 September. I also agree with the t's and c's. Who do I email with my mailing adress or is it a kindle version?

Michael (michaelbl) | 407 comments Bryan wrote: "I think so, Michael, the publishers have restrictions, but Bentley will confirm this.

Hi Bryan, I would prefer the library at this point all our libraries in Alberta are connected so we can search province wide. However, with a new release like this I may end up just purchasing it. Probably for my kindle to save delivery time.

Bryan Craig Great, Michael. Thanks Wilk and Matt. We hope to get an assessment from Bentley on where we are in the process.

Again, thank you for your patience :-)

message 93: by Gary (new)

Gary Schantz (allamericanhistory) This is my first time responding to one of these discussions. I have been collecting books on the presidents for quite a few years now. I have almost every book that has been written by a president...and quite a few written about the presidents.

That being said, Lyndon Johnson is definitely one of my favorite presidents because he was one of the last of the presidents who hailed from a time when you actually had to campaign door-to-door.

Bryan Craig Great to meet fellow presidential history buffs, Gary. LBJ had some interesting traits and has a presidency of historic success and large failures.

Justin Poe | 50 comments Any update on the book giveaway and the start date of the reading??

message 96: by Mark (last edited Sep 23, 2014 09:26PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mark (mwl1) Any update? I initially expressed interest, but the delay is going to make this more difficult for me. Hard to plan to participate on a moving deadline.

message 97: by Bryan (last edited Sep 24, 2014 06:24AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Bryan Craig Hi Mark. Bentley's father is ill, and unfortunately, he is the only person who is in direct contact with the publisher about the giveaway.

I believe we will have to postpone this book for a little while. I would understand if you want to remove yourself from the list.

If you are interested in Ike, we are talking about doing Jean Smith's one-volume book next month.

Eisenhower in War and Peace by Jean Edward Smith by Jean Edward Smith Jean Edward Smith

So sorry for all of this, but we ran into a difficult circumstance.

message 99: by Mark (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mark (mwl1) Hope everything goes well for Bentley and his family.

At this point I would prefer to be removed from the list if possible. If not I will work it out and participate to the extent I can.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate.

Bryan Craig Sure thing, Mark, we will do that for you.
