Dear Librarians,

A bit of a difficult two-part problem, so if any of you is up to the challenge: thank you!

'Unicorn' recently published book (of Angela Carter unpublished poetry) with two different covers, but both have the same ISBN. I think this might have something to do with early buyers (pre-orders and such). I would like some help adding the second cover (https://profilebooks.com/media/catalo...) to the same ISBN?

I also noticed that another Goodreads user encountered the same problem, but added the second cover as a whole new book (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...), instead of fixing the issue correctly.

Is there anyway to add the second cover underneath the same ISBN, and either combine the two separate 'books' or remove the 'extra book', without bothering the folks who shelved the second cover?

My thanks is great, oh wise ones!

Arenda | 19917 comments Amazon also had the cover with the eye for isbn 9781781253618.
It can happen the same isbn is used for different covers.
We add an alternate cover edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
The isbn is mentioned in the description.

The other edition is a Kindle edition, that was imported from Amazon.
I combined all three editions (both hardcovers, and the Kindle): https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...

Thank you Arenda! You helped me the last time as well right? I work with facts and figures, so my brain tends to implode when something is off. I should apply for librarianship (when I can/do qualify) and save you the trouble! Thanks again!

Arenda | 19917 comments No problem.

Don't feel obliged to apply, only when you think you'd like to do it.

You know what? I think it would actually like it (especially after reading that description). How much hours do you put in (per week)? Is there a minimum requirement?

Arenda | 19917 comments No minimum requirement. Warning: it can be addictive.
I started with my own books. Working on them, I noticed all kinds of other issues. After getting familiar with Goodreads, book edits and the librarian manual, I have expanded to work on requests in the Librarians Group.

This should be in bold: Warning: it can be addictive.

It cannot be stated clearly enough, nor often enough.

I started with the things that were important to me, like page count and original year of publication. I began noticing other things. Librarianship *is* about facts - you might find you like it, but consider yourself warned!

lethe | 13563 comments Thirding the warning that it can be addictive. I promised myself I would stay away from the Librarians Group today and just read, but here I am :)

You need to have shelved 50 books before you can apply, though.

@Arenda I used the sort those old catalog cards at my library in the ye' olden days for extra credit. Goodreads is like one big digital library cabinet.

@Elizabeth Luckily, I am a fact-checker/researcher for a living! I will heed your warning though.

@Lethe Yeah, I know. I might be the slowest reader to ever grace Goodreads, but I will get there.

lethe | 13563 comments They don't need to be books you've already read. Your to-read shelf, if you have one, also counts.

Fourth warning. I got into separating authors with the same name yesterday and spent 6h at it before coming up for air! Yikes!

@Lethe Well, I have enough books to apply, but I feel I should finish my goal of reviewing 50 books first, before getting addicted!

@Bea When do you even work, eat, read, and sleep? I am impressed!

@Lethe Hi again! I am afraid it is too late. I made up my mind.

@Jeffrey I am afraid you are in the wrong thread.
