Hi Kath
Thanks for the welcome. I have updated the thread title.

15 years for the first book, eh? And I thought I was slow! (10 years for book 1)
Best of luck, the book sounds intriguing, and I do like the cover.

I had a review on my novel which commented that I should have put in an epilogue to explain what happens after, which I found curious.
Many books I've read kind of finish with a 'and they lived happily ever after', or something to that effect. Not everything is explained and you just use your imagination.
So it made me wonder when an epilogue should be used in a novel and when is it not necessary. Any thoughts?

My thoughts exactly. But it made me wonder whether I should write a sequel. I only ever planned it to be a stand alone novel but I'm beginning to think I could do it. But coming up with a decent plot is another matter!!
I just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Alice B. Ryder and I currently live in Staffordshire. I've read a bit about goodreads so I thought I would check it out and it looks all right to me!! :o)
I spent, what seemed like an eternity (15 years or thereabouts)writing my first novel. Hopefully any future novels won't take so damn long!!!!
I enjoy reading crime thrillers by Mark Billingham and Peter James and Forensic based novels such as those by Jefferson Bass. I also like the odd chick lit novel along with Jane Austen and other period pieces.
My first novel is called The Evolution of Kate and I hope people like it. I'm currently working on my dreaded second novel called, The Book. It sure is hard to get going on something new after working on the first one for so long.
I look forward to coming on here regularly (in between writing of course) to chew the fat.
The Evolution of Kate
Cheers
