Honestly in the beginning I liked Chaolaena a lot, but he moved on pretty fast from her once she went to Wendlyn so I've ended up liking Rowan and Aelin a lot more.

I think Rowan with his wisdon is a perfect match for her.

I never liked Dorian as a romantic interest for Aelin - I always felt they were better as friends.
this whole series is just
Dorian! It made me sad why the hell Chaol had to be one of her love interest.. let there be a major plot twist and return aelin to dorian!
At first I really liked Chaol, he was really nice and stable which Aelin needed at that time. Then he just became a huge pain! He became insecure about who she was and afraid of her power. Then Rowan came along and I hated him at first. I thought he was a pompous A-hole. But then he became super sweet and allowed Aelin to be herself. He even encouraged her to be the Queen she needs to be. I kinda want Rowan as a lover! This situation kinda reminds me of ACOTAR the love triangle between Feyre, Tamlin, and Rhysand.

In TOG it started out as Chaol but then Rowan came along it was done for Chaol.
******Spoilers*****
In ACOTAR it was Tamlin and then in ACOMAF it was bye bye Tamlin Hello Rhysand!
Still a celorian shipper (Dorian Havilliard reads books ;just like us .I can't imagine Maas putting down a bookworm prince aside and i can't see that both her heroines ending up with Fae immortals (i mean celaena /Rowan and Feyre/Rhysand). Aren't the queen and king in the tomb A Havilliard couple (Elena Galathynius Havilliard:wife of Gavin Havilliard)?.It stills a cindrella retelling to me.
Lets Talk about Rowan I defiantly think Rowan and Aelin are true mates, many hints in the books suggest it. (Even calling them mates a few times in the series) This is by far the deepest relationship Aelin has had through out the series. SJM basically describes their souls being bound on multiple levels. They can talk telepathically just by looking in each others eyes! (Aedion and Aelin can't do that and they are both at least half Fae) Rowan even says in Queen of Shadows that he knew they had a connection since he bit her while training in Heir of Fire. Plus much more evidence. Keep in mind SJM does like to throw in little hints here and there predicting future events and there have been many with Rowan and Aelin.

I was a 100% for Dorian and Aelin until halfway through heir of fire. When Rowan was first introduced I actually really disliked him for being such a dick to Aelin. I firmly believe Rowan And Aelin are going to last till the end of the series and rule Terrasen together. The only problem I see is Aelin might not be immortal. SJM has described Aelin as immortal multiple times in the books, but never directly. Either that or Rowan will become mortal like 2 of the 3 fae queens (Mab and Mora) became mortal because they both fell in love with mortal men.

“Even when this world is a forgotten whisper of dust between the stars, I will always love you.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Empire of Storms
“He was hers and she was his and they had found each other across centuries of bloodshed and loss, across oceans and kingdoms and war.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Empire of Storms
Definitely a Rowan and Aelin Quotes!

Whoever you ship Aelin with you cant deny the series if definitely pointing toward Rowan.
What are your thoughts? I would like to get some other opinions on this maybe any other evidence supporting this theory or not?
"Rowan even says in Queen of Shadows that he knew they had a connection since he bit her while training in Heir of Fire." I don't know if should laugh or cry on this sentence. Now let me tell you about Rowen
Rowen in his grief killed a lot of people, slept with a lot of women (trying to forget his wife), abused Aelin and treated her like shit because he didn't know her (I guess that's "good reason"), and he did all this simply because he could, and because he choose to do it. I wonder if Rowen was 5'5 with big noise and big mole in his face would you still forgive him for what he has done???
I loved COM so much because there were many twists. I loved that one day the made love and next day she tried to kill him, I was surprised to learn that Nehemia organized her own murder. I loved it that celeana loved/hated chaol, I loved it that chaol loved her but he also was afraid of her and even little disgusted by her willingness to kill without remorse (not all the times). I thought finally something different, not the usual "I love her/him so much, I'll do anything for him/her". I thought Wow, what a challenge, I wonder how SJM gonna overcome it. Well let's just say that – let toss chaol aside and bring a "hot bad boy" with dark past – wasn't my kind of solution, such a cliché'.
2 things happen to me during reading this book (I think for the first time in my life): first, I could not care less what would happen to the main character and the second (and that's first for sure) I felt that an author developed hate to one of her characters (I'm talking about chaol of course).
There were many strong female characters in this book, but for me the strongest was Elide, for a change not "badess beautiful woman" but a cripple one with the saddest past (yes even more then Aelin) who used her WIT to survive and nothing more.
So my team is CHAOL.ELIDE (I ship them really hard but I know it won't happen).DORIAN. MANON.
One last thing, I can bring u some heartbreaking quotes from COM to, so excuse me but I'm really not impressed.
(thank u google translate for the help!)

Well I think that is why Rowan and Aelin have a connection because they are both are ruthless killing machines that have no remorse and they are both ass holes most of the time. They understand each other because they are looking at a reflection of themselves. .. No I actually hated Rowan when he was first introduced for that very same reason but then I realized Aelin is just as abusive and rude. So they deserve each other.
Grace wrote: "Meghan, are you sure you liked this series? =)"Haha of course I loved it, its the best series I have read in a long time. My favorite characters are actually Aelin and Rowan. I really like the bad ass vibe they both have.
Grace wrote: "@Meghanoh OK I know it's amazing! I love acotar also! another good series is outlander!"
ACOTAR is on my to read list, it sounds really good. Just looked at outlander and that looks really good too. Thanks for the recommendation :)
@Meghan no problem, they turned outland into a TV series too it's on starz if you want to give it a try it's amazing.
Okay, one Aelin does not need to be protected. She could kill all three of her love interests. Two, yes Rowan knows everything about her and still loves her, but he still tries to change her. He loves her despite what she's done, but he tries to keep her from doing it again. Chaol can't lover her knowing how much of a monster she can be. He only fell in love with her when he didn't know what she had done. And finally, Dorian always known what she was capable of. He knew she could be incredibly cruel, and he loved her anyways. After everything he still trusts and believes in her, even though she was going to kill him. He trusts her more than anyone else, and he has never really trusted anyone. That's big for him. Dorian was the first person she felt comfortable enough to sleep while he was in the same room, let alone bed. She is going to end up with Dorian. I have no doubt in my mind about that.
Ioana wrote: "I would always choose Chaol first, but if Chaoleana really has sunk to rock bottom, I would pick Dorian over Rowan. Period. Or maybe Aelin could just not have a love interest?"Dorian lived a relatively peaceful life, at least compared to Aelin. I think he could never truly understand her. He deserves someone who can spread the light inside him with their brightness. Aelin would dim if not destroy it completely.
Deborah wrote: "Definitely Rowan, Her and Caelena and Chaol's relationship ended when Nehamia died."Completely true! Rowan is the only one who even begins to understand her!

And was also her match in strength
It's funny you mention this, because I believe the exact same thing. I don't think Rowan is her endgame. And I love her and Rowan together. I have a feeling it will be Aelin and Dorian. I could be wrong, but we'll see. It'd make a great alliance between the two countries, among other reasons. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I used to like Chaol, sadly I cannot stand him now. He's become and arrogant ass who looks down upon Aelin. Dorian was right. I don't think Chaol ever truly loved her because he refused to accept all of her. I'm so broken hearted about it, because I loved them together, but he's been such an ass I don't even want him ending up with Falik. My Mind could change, I'm rereading it right now. and maybe he ends up being likable again later on. For right now, I'd be happy with him jumping off a cliff. Rowan with Aelin definitely
But Chaol will forever be my favourite character ever

Rhysand wrote: "If Rowan dies, I will probably be severely depressed."Me too,I won't be able to bear it, can't let myself think of that
Ever time someone brings it up, a part of me dies inside. If Rowan dies than Aelin will probably become the monster she has feared.
Rhysand wrote: "Ever time someone brings it up, a part of me dies inside. If Rowan dies than Aelin will probably become the monster she has feared."Rowan can't die. I won't allow it...
I really hope he doesn't die... :-(
In the first two books of this series I was a hard core Chaolaena shipper. Throughout Heir of Fire I was kind of on the fence between Chaol and Rowan. And now I'm totally team Rowan. I still love Chaol as a character and I was a little disappointed that he didn't make an appearance in Empire of Storms, but I kind of love Rowan. I can see why some people might have some problems with this ship, but I personally think he and Aelin are perfect together.
Rowaelin for the win! I used to ship her with Chaol and as Rowan came along I still really liked Chaolaena but slowly that ship sunk to rock bottom and RowanxAelin has arisen. Love them so much!
I'm only on Heir of Fire, but if Aelin becomes a Queen, I think she will probably end up with Dorian, even if she doesn't love him the most at the end. Like, they will become mates. It makes sense to form a literal forever alliance with another country. Aelin would make that kind of sacrifice in order to bring peace to the people she feels she failed the most: the people of Terrasen. It doesn't fit with Dorian's ideas of romance, but from where I am in the series, I feel like his mind is gonna get changed in that. Really, SJM isn't super great at developing/deteriorating relationships between characters. Especially love interests. It's rushed a lot.
Chaol and Aelin til the day I day. I feel like she's going to be with Rowan though. I hated Rowan from the moment he appeared and my hatred has grown stronger ever since. Ever since Aelin blamed chaol for nehemias death, and since she met rowan, she all but hates him.
I could accept if their love died off and they still remained close, but they aren't really friend (hurts my heart).
Hope Rowan dies in the final book (so bad) and that she ends up with chaol.
Honestly I loved Aelin with Chaol the whole first few books, even though she had a thing for Dorian too. for whatever reason Chaol just understood her. Then we met Rowan and honestly I really don't like him but then I don't like any of the main guys really anyways. Dorian isn't really bad actually, but he needs to be firmer in what he wants, Chaol just pisses me off beyond words and Rowan is a dick! He has his moments of being ok and I think he gets better through the books, but I don't want her with any of them honestly.
I'm not quite finished reading, but the more i read, the more and more i dislike Chaol. I was a Chaol advocate hardcore in the first book and the second, even the third book, but the Chaol in this book is just......... He never does the right thing........ He's so full of ......disgust and anger. It has really turned me off of his character.
Rowan all the way, even though I haven’t finished all the books yet but I so love Rowan and Aelin <3
juliana wrote: "Well, I've always liked Sam the most... :("I haven't read any of the pre-story yet. I started at Throne of Glass and read the second, third, and now fourth. I plan to leave those until last.
Anyway, all that to say, I don't really have an opinion on Sam yet, but he seems to be the best choice so far knowing what i know of everyone else. :)
I liked Rowan in HoF until he became a horny teenager in QoS...I didn't mind Chaol but I guess he's out of the picture now.
Same with Dorian, who I still really like. Looks like the love of his life will forever be Sorcha. I'd be surprised if he has any room left in his heart for Aelin.
I was rooting for Chaol in Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight, but after that *sighs* disaster... I realized that I don't really care for Aelin and I just want Chaol and Dorian to be happy no matter who they end up with. (I'm so glad they are such good friends!) Anyone who has read Tower of Dawn... ;)
