I seriously loved the movie based on this book. It terrorized me and it nearly gave me nightmares. I adore the show Bates Motel. However, this book was just average. And I get that it was the source of inspiration for both the movie and the show, but it didn't really get to me.
I think the book had a lot of info dump and it just felt more obvious what the big twist would be. I thought everything played out too easily. I also hated Norman which is probably the author's intention, but I think the movie and show Norman has a bit more humanity. I couldn't find any redeeming quality in book Norman.

I read this book fast so it wasn't so bad.
