((kay, what should happen here? Should the sailors try anything? or are we going to be nice to them and let them sleep?))

((ok))Jame's eyes snapped open and he writhed, trying to free himself, but unable to because of the hand over his mouth. A deep voice whispered in his ear, "This is nothing personal cap'n, we just want our turn with her." That just caused Jame to wriggle harder. He was roughly picked up and moved out of his cabin. Once he was dumped outside, the door was shut and locked. Jame pounded his fists on it in anger. "Open up you thieving bastards! Open up or I'll blow it open!"
Adella snapped awake as the door slammed, jumping to her feet as she saw the three men standing there, none of them the captain. Crapcrapcrap...... "Stay away from me...." She said, backing away from them, they were blocking the door. From the corner of her eye she looked around the room, looking for a weapon. there was a knife on the table....Taking her eyes off them for a split second she ran over to grab it.
Denver took two quick steps and wrapped his arms around her from behind, pinning her arms. "Don't even try it."Sam grabbed the knife and scooted it away from her, tucking it into his pocket.
Another large man, Jack, grinned maliciously down at her. "Been waiting a long time for this." He said softly, chuckling.
Jame kept pounding on the door and shouting at them for a long time, until he realized it was no use. He sank down against the door, sighing. "I'm sorry." He whispered.
She struggled in Denver's arms, and got an idea, not sure if it would work but it was worth a try anyway. She let herself go slack for a moment before slamming her head back at his face and trying to elbow him at the same time.
Denver groaned and grabbed his face, holding his nose which was now bloody. He cursed loudly, groaning. Sam immediately leaped on her, grabbing one of her arms, and Jack grabbed her other. "Oh no you don't. You aren't getting away from us."
Jame got up quietly, and decided to sneak in from the back. He lifted himself over the rail, and started to scale the outside of the ship.
She was struggling in their grips, just trying to get away. If she could just get her hand on a weapon....something. She was lashing out with her legs as well, trying to kick them away from her but she didn't have that great of a range of movement right now. She was scared. Terrified of what was going to happen to her.
Sam and Jack smiled, carrying her over to the bed. Denver had recovered slowly, and he walked over now, a look of utter rage on his features, and a coil of rope in his hands. Sam and Jack dumped her on the bed, and Denver quickly tied her hands together, before doing the same with her ankles.
Jame pulled out his knife and put it between his teeth, his muscles shaking from the effort it was taking to cling to the slippery, wet beams on the outside of the ship. Climbing upwards, he grabbed his knife, pulling back to shatter the window with it.
"Let me go!" She was shouting, struggling as they dumped her on the bed, she tried to shoot to her feet again but started to panic more when the tied her up, still trying to kick out at them. When she heard the window shatter she wasn't sure what to think. what was that? Were they under attack?
The men froze in surprise, all three of them, looking around the dark room to try and see what happened. Jame used their surprised to his advantage. He quickly knocked Sam and Jack out, sparring for a couple of second with Denver before he knocked him out as well. He ran over to Adella and began sawing through the ropes that held her, snapping the ones on her wrist before moving to her ankles.
She relaxed when she saw that it was just Jame but was still shaking. What now? Staying in here obviously hadn't worked. Seemed like there was no where in the ship that they couldn't get to her. And that scared her. They were in the middle of the ocean. How long could she really avoid them for even under the best of circumstances?
Jame snapped the ropes on her ankles and sighed thankfully. He gave her a knife, just in case, and pointed his small pistol at the men, who were slowly starting to wake up. "Get out or ill shoot." He growled, his eyes glittering dangerously.
Her grip was tight on the knife. as she watched them. Of only one of them had attacked her she might have been able to handle it. But it was obvious she couldn't fight them all.... What if.....she started to get an idea, it wasn't great but it might be worth a shot....she didn't say anything yet though. she'd ask Jame what he thought in a bit.
Denver, Sam, and Jack got up slowly, groaning. Denver was the first to rise. He shot Jame a dirty look. "We just wanted her for one night!" He exclaimed. "Why wont you share?" He grumbled, leaving before Jame could answer. He kept his gun glued on the other two until they had left. Sighing he walked over and locked the door. "I'll remember to lock this door tomorrow night." He walked over and sat on the end of the bed. "I wasn't too late, was I? They didn't do anything to you?"
"I'm fine." She told him. "You got here in time." She wasn't sure how much good a locked rood would do though. What was to stop them from coming through the window as well? Or breaking down the door? "If it was just one of them coming after me I'm sure I could handle myself but when they all do...." She shook her head. She did love the sea, didn't want to be chased off it because of this. It just wasn;t fair. And how could they even do this? They knew her! Had been sailing with her for months now.
Jame shook his head, huffing slowly. "I know. I'm sorry. I should have been more careful." He sighed softly and looked over at her, glad she was alright. What were they going to do now? How on earth would they keep the men away? They had to think of something.
"I have a bit of an idea..." She said, chewing on her lip, really not sure if it would work, not sure if she should even try it. At least it would give her a shot at being able to walk freely around the ship again....right?
Jame looked up in surprise. He was open to any ideas at the moment, as he had none himself. "Ok. Shoot." He said, folding his hands and leaning forwards, waiting to hear this idea of hers.
She took a breath before beginning. "I know I can only hide for so long. That it will only be so long before they find another way in and they eventually get to me. And like I said a minute ago....if there was only one of them coming after me I'm pretty sure I could defend myself against them but when they're coming at me from all sides I don't stand a chance. What if I fight one of them one on one? If I was able to beat them do you think they might leave me alone?"
Jame nodded. "Yeah, they would leave you alone... if you won." He looked over at her, dead serious, "If you lost, there'd be nothing I could do to keep them from raping you." He said seriously. Her plan was a risky one, but if it worked...
"I know." She said, letting out a shaky breath. "But if I don't do anything they'll get to me eventually anyway. at lest this way I'll stand a chance. And I'd only be facing one of them...." although they'd probably give her the hardest one to fight but she would still try. "I don't see what else I can do."
Jame nodded. "That's what's frustrating. We don't really have any other options." He ran a hand through his hair. "Even if you did win, they still might go after you. The only way to ensure they wouldn't would be to make it a challenge." He looked over. "If you win, you get something say the right to never be touched by any of them unless you ask. And if you lose, you promise them something, say the opposite." He explained. "They'll keep their words. If you win, they'll leave you alone."
She let out another breath, steeling herself. "I'll do it." she said, she had to win. There was no other option. "As soon as possible, I don't want to give them anymore chances to come after me if I can help it." Was she nervous? Definitely. When she had first thought of the idea she had known what would happen to her if she lost, but she had to try.....
Jame nodded slowly. He admired her guts. "We can let them know first thing in the morning." He said, sighing softly. He sat back in his chair and relaxed some, but didn't go to sleep. He felt almost sick about this deal. He hated to see how it would turn out. If she lost, there wouldn't be anything he could do to save her.
"Guess I should try to get some sleep too." She sighed, leaning back again. Her mind was racing too much though to allow her to sleep. She had to win...had to stay calm tomorrow and handle whatever they threw at her. She'd trained a bit with most of them, trying to think about what she'd seen from how they'd fought, wondering who would be the one to fight her?
The next morning came way too quickly. Jame got up slowly and stretched his stiff muscles, yawning. "Wake up. You need to be the one to tell them of the challenge." He said gently, looking down at her.
Adella didn't know how she'd fallen asleep last night but she nodded as he woke her, closing her eyes for a minute and taking a breath before standing and stretching. Pleasepleaseplease let this work.
Jame walked with her outside. The crew was already up and about, working on their usual duties. Some glances were cast at Adella, and he frowned. "Attention! There is an announcement!" He shouted, and the crew went silent, turning to look at them. Jame nodded to Adella, indicating that she could speak now.
((Adella ;) You said Adella then Jessica :P))She raised her chin, trying to keep her voice even and calm as she explained the challenge and the terms of it. If she won against whoever they sent against her she'd be left alone. Otherwise.....She could help the slight tremor that crept into her voice as she explained what would happen if she lost. She had to win....
((haha! oh gosh. I'm bad at this. We use Jessica more often... its been lodged in my brain! lol))The men in the crew all grinned maliciously. This would be all too easy in their eyes. The one who was to face her didn't even need to be told, he just stepped forwards. He was a large man, but still agile and quick on his feet, by far the best fighter in the crew. He had grey streaks in his hair, evidence of his experience.
((I've done it before too!))Adella took a breath, again trying to calm her nerves. Of course they chose him...she should have known that. "Alright then. Just give me my sword and let's do this." She kept her gaze focused on the crew, on her opponent, not looking in Jame's direction as she went forward.
((whew, I'm not the only one then :P ))Two swords were thrown at them, and Ronan, her opponent, caught his easily. He smiled at Adella, swiping his sword through the air a couple times to try out its feel and balance. "I'll try not to scar up your pretty face for later on darling." he taunted softly, smiling at her.
((Nope! :D))She didn't catch her's didn't even reach out to try, just picking it up from the deck. She didn't say anything to him, trying to ignore his taunts and the taunts from the rest of the crew. She got in a defensive stance, waiting for him to make the first move. come on Adella.....you have to win this..... she had a plan. Neither of them were facing the fun right now, but she was going to try to get where it would be at her back. Hopefully the sun would blind him a bit, giving her a bit of an advantage.
Ronan grinned and stepped forwards suddenly, stabbing at her left side. He nicked her gently, but not enough to cause real damage. He didn't want to damage a toy he was planning on using later. He grinned at her and stepped back, laughing softly. Stepping forwards, he lunged to attack on the other side.
She blocked the second one, stepping a bit to the side as she did, beginning her plan to get him turned towards the sun. She tried to go in for a quick strike as well, aiming a slash at his chest. ((I want to know what Jame is thinking during all this ;)))
((lol ok :) ))Ronan easily shuffled back a couple steps, dodging her. He brought his sword up to meet hers at the same time, and the steel clashed against steel. He then swiped at her three times in succession, his blade moving quickly so it was just a blur.
Jame sat on the stairs up to the top deck, his elbow on his knee and his chin on his fist. He was feigning indifference, but his whole body was tense. He knew there was no danger of either of them dying. The fight was not to the death. He was just worried, flinching a little each time Ronan lashed out at Adella.
She was able to block the first two, the third giving her another shallow cut, but at least during those blows she had moved a little, the sun more at her back now. Just a little farther around..... and if that plan didn't work she didn't know what she was going to do. Again she moved to strike him, this time aiming a bit lower at his legs.
Ronan squinted in the sunlight, cursing. He realized too late what her plan was. He was able to shuffle back and miss her blade, but just barely. He raised one arm to try and shield from the sun, no longer balanced. Jame saw what she did and smiled, shaking his head slowly. She may not be near to as good of a fighter as Ronan, but she was smart. He'd give her that much.
Her confidence rose a little bit as she slashed at him again. He might be the better sword fighter. Was the better fighter. But now that she had this advantage she was going to use it.
Ronan wasn't able to fend her off this time, and she left a long bloody slash over his chest. Jame grinned, she was doing well. He watched her carefully, hoping she would take that chance to end it. "Pin him. Pin him!" He whispered.
She grinned a bit as she finally landed a hit, taking another step forward and pressing her sword against his throat. Was that it? Was it over? Had she won or was he going to try anything else...
The men went silent. Ronan smiled and held out a hand. "Well done lass." He said, lowering his sword and putting it away. Jame grinned. So she had done it after all. He sighed thankfully. Well that's a relief. "Adella won!" He said, standing. There was a brief pause, and then the crew started clapping, slowly, but steadily joining in until everyone was clapping for her.
She let out a relieved breath, glad that was over. She lowered her sword as well, hesitating for a second before reaching out to shake his hand. She was still a bit weary, would be for a couple days at least but hoped that they upheld the deal. She had done it....she had actually won...
Jame got up and walked over to them, patting Ronan on the back. "Good job you two." He said, smiling at them both. He hoped this would unite his crew again. They really were nice men, they just lacked well... self control sometimes. Jame smiled down at Adella. "Both of you should rest for a while." He looked up. "Everyone else. Back to work!"
Adella just headed straight for the crow's nest. She liked it up there already, it was relaxing for her. And even after winning that fight she wasn't ready to trust the crew again yet, figuring she could avoid them for a little while up here anyway.
((Sure, but she's in the crows nest... Maybe make the crew mad at Jame because of this whole situation?))
