Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Well since no one else heard him call her that they could just say she's lying. And Adella will get the ship's doctor to come in to see him. ;) He can't die.))

"You certainly don't look okay." She muttered under her breath as she got him to his cabin and over to the bed, helping him sit. "I'll go get the ship's doctor. He's looked at everyone else now, it's your turn." She turned to head out, wondering why he had to be so stubborn about this. What was wrong with accepting help?

message 802: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((sounds good :) ))

Jame shook his head. "Tell him not to bother, he needs to get himself cared for first. He can't have seen everyone." What's the use of healing someone who can't be healed? He sighed and lay down slowly on his bed, a soft groan escaping his lips as his wound reopened. He lay back and tried to get the world to stop spinning around him.

message 803: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Next time they go somewhere I want her to be the one to almost die. Want to see his reaction :P)))

She ignored his last comments. Well the doctor had seen the majority of the people who'd been held captive at least. She went down to where he was with the last person of the crew. "The capt'n is up in his cabin. He's been injured too. He's trying to protest but I think he needs to see you. He collapsed a minute ago."

message 804: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((I think we can make that happen *rubs hands together evilly*))

The doctor nodded, in agreement. "I'll be right on may way up." He promised, finishing up with stitching a crew member's wounds. "Make sure he's lying down would you? What do you think is wrong?"

message 805: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((haha >:D can't wait to see what he does.))

"I'm not sure." She said, shaking her head. "He just seemed to collapse. Exhausted maybe, but I think it's something more.

message 806: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments The doctor nodded and packed up his stuff, "Alright. I shall go see him now." he agreed, walking up to the top deck. He moved into the captain's cabin, frowning when he saw Jame. He was shivering, and sweating at the same time. The doctor immediately got to work on trying to find what was wrong.

message 807: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella was exhausted. Knew that she should try getting some sleep, but wanted to check up on him first to make sure he was okay. So she followed the doctor bak to Jame's cabin, frowning when she saw him. "What's happening? He wasn't doing that before."

message 808: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments The doctor shook his head, lifting Jame's shirt to reveal the wound that had black veins running through it. "Poisoned blade." he breathed. Jame shrugged away, not liking the way they both were looking at him. "I'm... Fine... fine..." He mumbled, his breathing heavy.

message 809: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Poison?" Her frown deepened, she was ignoring Jame. "Do you know what kind? Is there a cure for it?" Why wouldn't Jame tell them about this? Why hide it? Why was he such an idiot sometimes.....

message 810: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365)

message 811: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments The doctor's brow wrinkled in worry, not saying what he feared. "I'll do my best." He promised, starting to mix up what he would need for an antidote.
Jame shook his head. "Stop... no..." He mumbled weakly. "help the others..."

message 812: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella shot him a look. "Stop arguing. He's trying to help you so let him." Why was he being so stubborn about this? "Do you want to die or something!?" What was his problem? Then to the doctor. "Can you do anything?"

message 813: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments The doctor chewed his lip as he emptied the concoction into a vial. "If this works, then yes. If not, I'm afraid there's not much else I can do." He said, coming over to inject Jame.
Jame moved away, pulling the covers over himself like a stubborn child. "Of course I don't want to die, but I already am dying! So leave me be and help someone else who needs it!" He coughed violently and curled up deep in his blankets, acting much like a child as he grew more sick.

message 814: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Would you just stop it! Stop fighting! You need help more than anyone right now so stop arguing with the doctor and let him help you! He's already seen to the people that were injured so let him help you. Maybe then you won't die. Stop acting like a was little kid." He being an idiot. She turned and left the room, climbing up the crow's nest even though it was too dark to see anything. It was slow going with her shoulder but she got up there.

message 816: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame poked his head out of the covers, a little stunned by her display of anger. Maybe he was acting foolish, but hey, he was poisoned, he was having a hard time gaining sense of anything right now. Sighing, he turned his face away as the doctor injected him, made sure he drank something and left again. He fell swiftly asleep, exhausted from everything that had happened.

message 817: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) She fell asleep in the crows nest that night, waking as the sun started to come up. for a moment she didn't remember what had happened last night, wondering why she was up here instead of down below. Then it all came back to her. She wondered if Jame had cooperated after she'd left? Was he alive now? Only one way to find out. She climbed down, her shoulder still a bit sore but feeling better than it had th day before. She went to his cabin, knocking on the door.

message 818: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame woke to soft knocking on the door and he turned his head to look. Swallowing his parched dry throat, he sighed and mustered enough energy to call out, "Come in." It came out as a scratchy whisper, but it was all he could manage with his current strength. The poison was leaving his body, yes, but it was leaving him very weak.

message 819: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella poked her head in the door. He didn't look that good but he looked better than he had last night. She guessed that meant he let the doctor help him. "Hey...how ya feeling? Do you need anything?" Other men were starting to get up now, getting everything ready for the new day. where were they heading next she wondered. Te capt'n was the only one who knew where all the keys were.

message 820: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame groaned as he hoisted himself slowly onto one elbow so he was half propped against the headboard. "Not too well." he said honestly, sighing. "A little weak, and really thirsty, and my ears are ringing from your shouting last night." he said, smiling a little softly.

message 821: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) She gave a tiny smile at that last part. "Well...sorry about that. Guess I was tired...worried. Anyway, I can go get something for you to drink. Is there anything else?"

message 822: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame shook his head, chuckling softly. "No. Don't be sorry. I do believe I deserved it." He insisted. "You had your excuses. But yes, a drink would be nice." He said honestly. "That is all."

message 823: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) She didn't say anything to the first part, still feeling a bit weird that she'd yelled at the Jame. He was the Captain... "I'll be right back with your drink." She said, hurrying down below to the kitchens.

message 824: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((so... what should we do with this one? I don't feel like we are going anywhere with it, so I have no idea how to post a detailed reply for it, lol. Any suggestions?))

message 825: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Maybe we can skip awhile like we did in 1? And I'll try to reply to the others tomorrow. Going to bed tonight.))

message 826: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((ok sounds good :) I probs wont be able to reply to the others till tomorrow too ))

message 827: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Okay. and can you start twos one back up?))

message 828: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) *this

message 829: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((I've tried to come up with ideas for this one, but I'm dry, sorry. XP Don't know what we can do...))

message 830: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Maybe getting the last key?))

message 831: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((yeah, but not as far as plot ideas, more just writing up a reply. I've tried a couple times, and haven't come up with more than a couple sentences. It might be better if you try to start this one, lol. I don't think I'm getting anywhere with it.))

message 832: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((I'm horrible at starting. doubt I'd get much either. it's okay if it's short though. maybe we can build it up.))

message 833: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((kk))

Jame frowned at the map, his hands splayed on the oak table that sat in his quarters. Why was it so cryptic? The first couple keys had been easy locations, but dangerous. And now there were just this insufferable scribbles that he couldn't make any sense of. How on earth was he supposed to get to the next key, when he didn't know where it was? Jame let out a long heavy sigh, tugging on his earring. "This is hopeless." he growled, pacing the length of his room.

message 834: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((So before I do my actual post she's first mate at this point right?)

message 835: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((yup :) ))

message 836: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella was climbing down from the crows nest. Even with her new position she still liked to take a shift up there everynow and then. It was the first thing she'd actually been good at on this ship. The past few months had been interesting for sure, and sometimes she still couldn't believe that she was first mate now. Some of the men had grumbled about the fact that she was a woman when Jame had first appointed her but by now most of that had blown over. She glanced around the deck quickly, things were going smoothly at the moment at least. After that she went towards his quarters, knocking once and waiting a moment before going in. "Any closer to figuring it out?"

message 837: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365)

message 838: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame didn't bother opening the door when he heard the knock. He didn't even bother telling her to come in. He knew the knock, and knew who it was, and he also knew that she would just let herself in anyways. He looked up as she entered his cabin, and he huffed out slowly, deciding to tell her the truth. "No." he admitted. "No closer to figuring out this confounded thing!" he whipped out a knife and threw it, the blade piercing the table and sticking there, handle up. "None of it makes sense." He growled, impatient and frustrated with himself.

message 839: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) She just raised an eyebrow when he threw the knife. "What exactly does the clue say again?" She hd asked before and remembered it vaguely, but maybe there was something in the wording of it that they were missing. Whoever had written these clues had probably made this last one even more cryptic purposefully, not really wanting someone to actually find the treasure, at least not without trying. Jame still hadn't even told her what kind of treasure the keys were supposed to unlock. She went over to the desk and pulled the knife out, handing it to him as she waited for him to answer.

message 840: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame sighed, taking his knife from her with a nod of thanks. He ran his thumb over the handle and then sheathed it again, leaning his hands on the table and just staring at the map. "It's just a cryptic message about the sea and lights and…" he shook his head. "It reads: 'Shine brite', but bright spelled wrong, then 'starlight, lead the path to further shores. Dark night, cat's bite. Don't find thyself beneath its claws." He shook his head. "And that's it. Nothing of sense what so ever. Just a nursery rhyme." He growled.

message 841: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella bit her lip, starring at the floor as she tried to think of what the cryptic message might mean. "Maybe the lights are referring to the northern lights or something else similar?" She suggested. "I don't know about the misspelling of bright though, or the cat part, but maybe the last key is hidden somewhere that we can only reach at night?" Yeah the idea didn't make too much sense, even to her, but maybe it would get them thinking?

message 842: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame closed his eyes, his brow cinching in thought. "Northern lights…" he repeated. "Or maybe… a bright star of some sort. Something to the north? The north star? The northern lights? But it says nothing about the north…" He shook his head. "I know there's a place called The Cat's Claws. It's a popular inn on the southern shores. The riddle might be referring to there. But I don't know why it would be relevant at all." he said, sighing. He was losing hope of ever finding this last key.

message 843: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Well maybe it's a place to start?" Adella shrugged. She'd never been to the inn. Never even heard of it, but she'd never been that far to the south. "How long would it take to get there from here?" She asked, moving to look at one of the maps as she spoke. "Where is it exactly anyway?" She asked, throwing a glance over her shoulder at him. It was the best lead they had.

message 844: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame nodded, glad that she could help put hope back into his plans. Maybe they should look there… just in case. He pointed to a spot on the southern ridge of sea. "Right there." He pegged. "Its in the town of Ather." He explained. "Should take about a two day sail from here, only one day if the wind's with us." A smile spread across his features. "But only a few hours with this ship." He patted the wall fondly and then disappeared out onto the deck. He shouted orders to his crew then, and a deep creak stirred up in the timbers as the vessel turned and changed its course for Ather. Many of the crew were thrilled to be able to visit the town and rest for a few days.

message 845: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) She rolled her eyes at that last comment but was still smiling as she followed him back up onto deck. "You know..." She said, coming up to him a little bit later after they were underway. "You still haven't told me what all these keys are supposed to be for anyway. I still don't get what would need so many keys to open it and why the locks can't just be picked." That would be the simplest solution she would have thought. But if it would have worked someone would have done it years ago.

message 846: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame turned to look at her when she came up, and he sighed softly, shaking his head. He had not told her… had he. Well, maybe that was for a reason. Maybe that was because… he shook the thought away. "Yeah. I know. If only it was that easy…" he murmured. He turned his eyes to the frothy grey sea again, swallowing. "The keys open a chest." he said simply. "And the locks on that chest can't be picked, because there is a magic sitting on them that prevents anything but these many keys from opening it." He explained.

message 847: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "What do the legends say is in the chest?" She asked. What type of treasure took this much protection to guard it? She assumed that it was a magical artifact or something but what? What could it do? She was also a bit annoyed that he hadn't told her what this thing was. Of all the crew he had now she'd been here the longest. Been her since he found the first key and she still didn't know anything.

message 848: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame had not expected that question and in truth, he had been dreading it since the beginning of the journey. They were at a point now that it was almost stingy to not tell her, but he also… well… he was reluctant to tell, for certain reasons… "Probably just gold." he said simply, knowing that his words sounded like the truth. He was a practiced liar. And in this case, lying was very important. He couldn't tell her. Not… not yet. Hopefully not ever.

message 849: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((I'm very curious what this thing is XD))

"Who would put so much protection on something that was just gold? It has to be more than that." While she didn't think he was lying, she believed that there had to be something more valuable than gold if it needed this many keys to open it. It didn't make sense. "If the chest is protected with magic there is probably something magic in it." She pointed out.

message 850: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Lol. I'm still juggling ideas :) ))

Jame shrugged. "I'm hoping its a whole lot of gold. If I was some old rich man with a huge fortune, I'd probably have a lot of fun making this huge protection thing around it too." he smiled lightly, leaning his elbows against the ship rail. "I'm not positive that the chest is protected with magic. That's just a guess, cause all these keys are pretty crazy." He admitted, fingering the rings on his fingers.
