Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "and you think that's where the next key is?" she asked, glancing at him again. "you said there were six of them right?"

message 652: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame nodded. "Six." He agreed. "The next should be here, but the... well.. my instructions as to where they keys are, are rather cryptic." He admitted. "Best case scenario and the key is actually where I think it is."

message 653: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "What do the instructions say?" She asked, curious and only half way expecting an answer "What if someone else has already gotten some of the keys? What do we do then? what are these keys even for?"

message 654: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments James sighed. "Something long and cryptic. I don't have it all memorized. I'm sorry. But it's better if I don't say where they are hidden out loud. You never know who will hear." He said honestly, glancing around them at the sailors who all looked like they were working hard. "The keys unlock a chest. I have no idea if any others have them. That would be a complication." He agreed.

message 655: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((The last key should be gone when they get there!))

why did you need six keys to unlock one chest she wondered? but she was ready to find the four remaining keys. She nodded in understanding when he didn't want to say. They'd all find out eventually she guessed.

message 656: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((sure :) Not really sure how to respond to this either, lol :P ))

message 657: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Skip to getting there?))

message 658: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((sure.))

Jame was looking through the spyglass when he spotted the island. "Land to starboard!" He shouted, grinned. Finally, they had reached the next island.

message 659: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella had been off duty when he called. She'd been watching for land her whole shift in the crows nest but had seen nothing. Now she rushed to the side of the ship to see the first glimpse of the island.

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365)

message 661: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame grinned. "There it is." He said softly "After weeks of travelling we've finally made it." He breathed. "Prepare the longboats!"

message 662: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella stared for a second longer before rushing off to help the others get everything ready to go on land. She knew some of them would have to stay back to guard the boat but she just hoped that she was chosen to go out and look for the key. Halfway there after this.... She had her sword ready just in case she was chosen.

message 663: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame nodded slowly when everything was prepared and the anchor was lowered. "All those on night rotation tonight, stay on the boat, the rest, come with me." He said, stepping into one of the longboats.

message 664: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Wait a second. Since she's off duty right now would that be her?))

message 665: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((she should be coming with I believe.))

message 666: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella gave a bit of a grin as she went with the others, climbing into one of the longboats. What would they do after they had all six keys and the treasure she wondered.

message 667: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame, as always, stood at the bow of his long boat, eager to get onto land and explore it. He jumped off the second the boat scraped against the sand, and immediately began the venture inwards.

message 668: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella and the others followed after him. "What exactly are we looking for her Cap'n?" one of the men asked, catching up to Jame and walking beside of him.

Adella had a hand near the hilt of her sword as she followed after them, ready to use it if they had to.

message 669: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame didn't look back as he answered. He kept his eyes on the jungle ahead, knowing all too well that it could be very dangerous. "We're looking for a-ahhhhh!" He shouted as he was drawn up high into the treetops by the rope around his ankle.

message 670: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) A few of the others who rushed forward to try to help were also strung up as they got close to him, cursing under their breath as they swung there. the others, Adella included, started forward more carefully, eyes scanning the ground for traps as they went to try to get the others down.

message 671: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame started swinging his rope, trying to reach a nearby tree. "Stay back." He commanded the rest of his crew. "There are obviously natives who set these up. We must be very cautious. " and hoped they're friendly. He thought to himself.

message 672: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "What do you want us to do?"Adella called up, not wanting to just stand there and do nothing. who knew how long it would be before natives showed up.

message 673: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame sighed. "Just go. Its too risky to lose half the crew. Adella, you're captain in my leave. If we can escape, we will join you." He said decisively.

message 674: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) There were about 8 of them including the captain who were now up in the trees.

Adella's eyes widened a bit when he said she was in charge. Sure she'd been on his ship the longest but still wasn't expecting that, she didn't want to just leave him and the others there. "There has to be a way to get you down without getting trapped ourselves...."

message 675: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame shook his head. "We dont know where thy have put traps. Its too risky trying to come over here... unless.... thrown rocks or sticks where you are about to step. That should set off any potential traps." He suggested.

message 676: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella nodded, willing to try that, anything that might get them down from there. "There are probably some rocks on the beach." she said, throwing one more quick glance up at them, "Be right back." she said as her and most of the others went back to see if they could find any rocks. A few stayed just in case whoever set these traps came back while the others were gone.

message 677: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame nodded and sighed, resigning to hang limp as he waited for Adella to gather rocks. He couldn't afford to lose any more of his crew. So if that meant just losing the nine that were in the trees, then so be it. He sighed. "If this takes too much time then it is best to just go."

message 678: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella heard him but didn't answer. She wasn't going to leave him there. Even if he ordered it she wasn't going to leave him. Back on the beach they gathered up as many rocks as they could carry, going back to where the captain was. "You'll be down in no time." She said as she started throwing a couple onto the ground nearby, hoping to find a path to get him down.

message 680: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame sighed, shaking his head slowly. He realized that there would be no way she was going to listen to him anyways. He would just have to wait, hanging there, and hope she didn't get killed because of it. He folded his arms and huffed. "Fine. But don't cost me the lives of the rest of these men please." he said, partially serious, partially joking.

message 681: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) She glanced up at him then, shoulders slumping a bit at the tone in his voice as she met his eyes. "At least let us try to get you down....If we can make it to the tree we can climb up and cut the ropes. It shouldn't be that hard." She said, starting to throw some of the rocks, a few other traps went up as she did.

message 682: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame nodded, a slow smile crawling across his face. "Alright." He agreed. "You have my permission." His eyes followed her path, throwing rocks down as she moved. So far so good. The rocks were setting off the traps as he had hoped.

message 683: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) A few of the others were doing the same, all trying to get their buddies down while the others remained on watch in case whoever set these traps came back. They might be friendly but you couldn't take chances. It was time consuming but Adella was almost within reach of the tree now. "You'll be down from there in no time...."

message 684: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame was starting to see red spots in front of his eyes as blood flooded his brain. He could feel himself passing out and he groaned. He also thought he heard a distant sound... almost like footfalls.

message 685: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella was up in the tree about to cut him down when she heard the footsteps. She muttered a curse under her breath but still took out her knife to cut through the rope holding him up. A few of the others had already been cut down. There were three people still hanging up. One of the men hadn't been careful enough on his way to get one of the others down and had gotten tied up there himself. What were they going to do now though? Whoever it was was close. they didn't have time to get the others down before they got there. And they still had to get back to the ship without stepping in any traps. Something that would take too long. She hoped Jame was still awake enough to know what to do because she had no clue.

message 686: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame had almost passed out when pain suddenly exploded in his head and the world seemed to swim. He blinked and groaned, lying on the ground for a long moment before he gained enough sense of the world to sit up and look around. His whole body was tingling as if it was all asleep. His feet were completely numb. He got up slowly, rubbing his temples for a moment before he noticed that the footsteps were getting louder. "Run!" He cried.

message 687: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((so are we going to have them get caught?))

message 688: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Hm... idk. I'm fine either way :) ))

message 689: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Well we had said they were cannibals and they still don't have the key so....))

message 690: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((So captured? Maybe they keep them all somewhere and one of the group gets killed that night and that's when they realize they're cannibals?))

message 691: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Sure! That works! And maybe the cheif's got the key on a chain around his neck or something...?))

message 692: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Yes! We both play some of them? can you start?))

message 693: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Yeah sure.))

Abazar hollered at his men to advance. There were pirates on his island! Stupid rats were caught in his traps. He grinned to himself. He would make short work of them.

Jame's eyes widened as a bunch of dark skinned natives burst from the foliage, shouting and pointing spears at him. He swallowed slowly. "Oh crap." He muttered.

message 694: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) (( So are all the pirates caught now in the traps?

message 695: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((no. Just the ones who were before))

message 696: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella cursed when the natives came out and she drew her sword. Her heart was pounding. What were their chances of making it out of this? he glanced at Jame from the corner of her eye, trying to see what he thought. If he thought they could make it.

Rocco was following Abazar's orders. His eyes gleaming. from the sound of it there were a lot of them out there. they'd eat well for awhile....

message 697: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame knew there was little chance of them getting out of there. They were surrounded. But he wouldn't go down without a fight. He pulled out his revolver and pointed it at a native.

Abazar growled and pointed, ordering his troops to attack and disarm the invaders. They would get what was coming to them. That was for sure.

message 698: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Adella attacked the one closest to her, the others starting to fight as well. She saw who she guessed was the leader. If they could take him out would they win? The only problem was he as to far away. She cried out as one of the spears got her shoulder. Luckly it was her left and her sword was in her right hand but she still almost dropped it, forcing herself to keep fighting. They had to make it out.

Rocco was fighting as well. He'd already disarmed one of the pirates, knocking them out as well.

message 699: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Jame jumped into the fray the second the battle started, shooting with the gun in one hand, and stabbing with his sword in the other. When his pistol ran out of bullets, he threw it into the masses as hard as he could and leaped at it with the sword.

Abazar held up his hand and shouted for his men to retreat. They backed off, waiting in the bushes where the pirates could not see them.

Jame looked around in confusion. Had they won? His brief sense of victory was banished when a heavy net fell on them.

message 700: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Rocco backed up when the order was given, watching them, just waiting for the net to fall so they could go collect them.

Adella was breathing hard when the natives retreated, glad that they'd won. Now to get out of here... before she could say anything though the net fell, the weight of it knocking her to the ground where she landed badly on her injured shoulder. She let out a small cry, trying to bring her sword around to cut through it.
