Lara and Elizabeth 3
Jame's breathing had grown even more shallow, even in the last couple minutes. He looked way paler than he should be, and he was just staring at the ceiling. There was a small permanent frown fixed on his features. He was determined not to get this weak, and he was trying so hard not to be. His eyes followed the swinging lantern handing from the ceiling as the ship rocked. ((np :) ))
Adella cursed when she aww him, sitting the food she'd gotten down on his desk. What was she supposed to do now? without that plant what cpuldbshe do? God she hated feeling helpless.... What had gotten them all sick anyway? "Capt'n?" Anything I can do?"
Jame looked up at her slowly, his eyes filled with some unidentifiable emotion. He sighed softly and looked down. "Tell the carver to build me a coffin." He said miserably, looking away. His heart was heavy. He knew he was dying, and he would be leaving his ship behind. Not only that, but he would be leaving Adella behind.
She scowled, crossing her arms and coming over to stand in front of him. "Are you really just going to give up that easily?" She demanded. "You're not even going to try to fight? You can't be ready to die yet." She was mad. Maybe a bit at him but mainly at life in general. Why couldn't anything ever just be easy? and if he did want to die nothing she did would help anyway.
Jame sighed, shaking his head. "I have not given up, and I never will. But that will not stop death. I can feel it seeping into my bones." he said, shaking his head slowly. "If we do not find land soon, I will not see land again."
It sounded to her like he was giving up. And quickly too. Still. She was debating whether she should see if she could do anything here or go take a turn at the crow's nest. see if there was any land nearby that might have the plant they needed growing on it.
Jame sighed. He wasn't giving up, he was just stating things how they were. He didn't believe in clinging to pointless hopes. He could almost feel her wheels turning as she thought. "You can go. If you wish." he offered, coughing feebly and turning onto his side. "Don't feel like you need to stay here."
((Haha, I don't know what she would do :P It's honestly up to you. She can take care of him more, or find land. Whichever you prefer.))
((Not much she can actually do to help him....))Adella frowned, hesitating for a minute before heading back onto deck and climbing up into the crow's nest. Sure it was still a bit early for her shift up here but oh well. The one up there didn't complain of being relived early. She scanned the horizon in all directions, hoping that there was some sort of land out there.
Jame sighed, closing his eyes as he left. It was getting increasingly hard to breathe, and he was worried that if he fell asleep he would not wake up. So he tried to keep himself awake, even though he was dead tired.
((Let's say its an island they find)She wasn't sure how long she'd been up there when she finally saw a speck on the horizon. She straightened a little more, taking a moment to be sure..... "Land ho!" She called down, her heart picking up a bit. Would they find what they needed there? She hoped so... "Port side!"
((ok))Jame heard the call and he smiled a bit. Maybe he would survive.
The ship was anchored, and the men who were well swarmed the boats to try and get to land to search and help their mates as soon as possible.
((So what's up there?))Adella went with them, determined to do what she could to help out. She'd asked someone what the plant even looked like and now that she had at least a bit of an idea was scanning the ground to see if she could find it. Come on......it has to be here somewhere......
((With the story. Or are you just asking me in general? lol))Jame's eyes could no longer stay open. They fell closed, as he was barely breathing.
The crew were searching everywhere, scanning the forests and fields in hopes of finding the plant. Unfortunately, it hadn't been spotted as of yet.

((In general XD))Is that it? she wondered as she saw something tat looked like what had been described to her. she wasn't sure but seeing nothing else to do she dug it out of the ground along with the others like it around. She'd have to find some of the others. See if they knew. Plant in hand she rushed back off the direction she'd come from.
((well, back from my trip, so I'm just chilling pretty much, and editing another one of my books :P ))One of the men looked up. "Did you find something?" he asked her hopefully, standing and inspecting the plant she had in her hands. "She found it!" He bellowed "Everyone! Come! We must collect it!" He shouted, and the rest of the crew swarmed around Adella. "Show us where you found it!"
((I haven't had much time at all to read lately but will try to read yours once I can get the kindle edition.))This was it?! She grinned, running back the way she'd come. She couldn't believe that she'd been lucky enough to find this when she didn't know exactly what it was. "Over here." She said, coming to where she'd found the ones she brought to show the others.
((Great! Thanks :) ))The men followed her, shouting excitedly as they dug up the plant by the bucket load and started to carry it back to the ship.
Jame's breathing slowed and he lost consciousness. He was barely alive now.
As they got back she quickly ran down below deck to get the ship's doctor. He's best know how to make this stuff work She just hoped they'd gotten enough. that they'd gotten here in time..... ((No problem! :)))
The doctor beamed when he saw the plant. He quickly ground it up, having the men line up to hand plants to him as he needed them, grinding them and then throwing them into a cauldron of boiling water. Once the cauldron was at the right concistency, he handled Adella a ladel, and handed other men cups. "Start giving it sparingly to the sick. No more than a cupful for each person and make sure they drink the whole thing." He instructed, before he went back to grinding the herbs to make more of the stuff.
She knew there were a lot of sick people below deck, but the captain was sick too....She took one of the cups and used the ladle to fill it before passing it off to one of the others, taking the one cup to the captain's quarters. "Capt'n....We got the plant..." She said as she pushed open the door.
Jame didn't have the strength to look up or respond at all. His heart did lift a little when he heard her words however.
She cursed when she came in and saw him passed out, not sure what to do now. Could she still make him drink like this? She hoped so at least.....going over to the bed she tried pouring just a small bit into his mouth.
Jame choked as a reflex, and then his body started to slowly swallow the concoction. His eyes opened slowly, staring down at what he was drinking, and his nose wrinkled in disgust.
When she saw his eyes open up she let out a relieved breath. "It's the cure." She told him. "We found land and the plant was growing there."
Jame's shoulders relaxed and his eyes softened a little, the worry leaving them. He accepted the drink a little more eagerly, finishing it quickly and sighing as he felt his strength stop waning. It would take a while to recover, but he would be ok.
Jame shook his head, relaxing back on the bed and closing his eyes. "No. I'll be fine." He said, "Thanks."
She gave him a nod before heading back to the main part of deck, seeing if there was anything else she could do right now to help the others.
((Another island is all I can think of. But sometime during this we'll need to kill Jack off and get Adella as first mate. Then whenever he gets new crew let her come with him so their isn't a repeat of last time. Let everyone joining know from the getgo that 'there's a woman on the ship but you have to leave her alone' maybe a few of the keys are guarded? the others were easy to get to))
((Ok. So how to kill jack... hm.... XP alright. Gaurded keys. And a near port. So they will stop soon?))
((Just saw that none of my last comments on ours saved! O.O GR must have hated me that night.....Sorry. I thought I was waiting for you and it was my turn....))((but yeah,...or we can skip a bit until they're getting close to where the next one is. ))
((sounds good.))Jame was standing at the bow of his ship, one arm leaned casually on the rail. His eyes scanned the seemingly endless blue expanses, looking for what should be the Anatea coast. There would be ports there. Ports with men willing to help for a cheep cost. This was the last stop before open sea the rest of their journey, and Jame needed a new crew. On regular days, he would have liked this port most for the women that hung out in bars. But this time, his goals had changed.
Adella was up in the crow's nest again. She couldn't get enough of this part of the ship. She'd stay up there all day if she could. You could just see so much more of the world from here than you could on the deck. It was relaxing in a way. Still she was keeping a sharp eye out for any land or other ships. anything that could cause trouble for the crew. She squinted a bit as she saw something, waiting another moment before calling out. "Land ho!"
A slow smile crawled across Jame's face and he immediately started shouting out orders for the ship to be slowed and turned towards harbour. His men would be let off here, and with a whole new crew, he might have better chances for the dangers that lay ahead, for, the adventure was only beginning.
Adella watched as the land grew closer and closer, coming down on deck when they were almost there. Since they'd found the plant she hadn't been on land. That had been what. A few weeks ago now? As much as she loved the sea it would feel good just to be on land for a little bit at least. She wanted to get back out to sea though. She hoped they wouldn't be here long.
The ship was anchored in port, and Jame slid down a ladder to a nearby dock, not waiting for his crew to lower the boats. He immediately strolled into the nearest pub, knowing his crew would know what to do. He had already paid and released them.
She bit her lip as she got off the ship, watching the rest of the crew broke apart in some groups and headed throughout the streets. She however followed Jame into the tavern. "I want to join back up. I'm not ready to leave the sea yet. And it's not like I have anywhere else to go."
Jame turned, surprised to see Adella following her. "Why don't you join a merchants ship? You'll stay in the harbors so you can get off if you want to. And there's more quick cash on that job." He offered, walking inside the dimly lit tavern and to the back, where he sat with other captains looking for crew.
"I don't care about the cash. Sure it's a nice bonus but I love the sea. A merchant ship wouldn't be the same." She insisted, following him over to the table though she stayed standing. "I want to actually be at sea. Not just following the coast." She lowered her voice then, leaning closer. "And I think I'd have better luck with your ship too. If any of the other captains found out my secret...."

Adella went down below to deck to where the kitchens were. The only others there right now were really the cook and one or two of the other crew her were looking for food as well. She grabbed some stuff for the captain before heading back up on deck, seeing Jack over at the wheel. Part of her wanted to just climb up to the crow's nest, see for herself if there was any land nearby but whoever was up there now could handle that. Instead she headed back to the captain's quarters with the food.
